2 ascents one stock one not. little info on what we did to the ascent with about $400 in upgrades and what we did and how it compares. if you're interested in building yours like this, here is a list and links to get everything you'll need.

Looks good. What wheels are those? BTW, i bought the Fusion. That Fusion motor is AWESOME. Such great low speed control.
Im enjoying mine, with the underdrive gears and 1080 im happy for now.

That's 2 big things there. But u got to admit the stock motor needs a bit more kick.

Definitely a good platform for a budget comp crawler build.
Neat you got it working ok. In my experience, going from a mediocre tire to a Proline predator compound tire will help a lot with performance, and some decent shocks will help too. Rather than putting 700+ bucks in a Redcat, wouldn't it be better to just get something like a Vanquish VRD Stance for less money though, a rig that is nearly comp ready right out of the box? From what I have seen, the Vanquish has better ground clearance, better geometry, better tires, better electronics, way better center of gravity and all around better performance for like 500 bucks. :)

That's a good rig out the box. And definitely a good rig if your serious about it. But we know 500 is the start. Definitely not going to tell someone not to get a vanquish.
Can you tell me what springs and oil weight you used in the shocks set-up?

I used the soft short springs on top, 1 hole, 50wt. If you feel the droop is to much on the front throw a medium short spring on the bottom.
If it were me I would take the stock truck and install a QUICRUN Fusion SE (2-in-1 FOC system) - 1800KV motor and it probably would do as well or better than the one with all the upgrades.. The Fusion SE will cost about $80.. It is a brushless motor and the modulation is very precise and the crawl can be extremely slow.. you can check out some videos on the motor for more info..

fusion pro 2in1 is my go to for brushless crawlers motors. Just did brushed for the brushed guys out there. The stock tires are to hard to really bite so a nice motor won't help without a soft grip tire or softer foams.
Buddy says $400 in upgrades. I see $75 🤷🏽
