    Hilux SR 2021. Dont use a lead acid battery with the caps, doesnt fit under piranha bracket. Get one with no caps. Also, when you feed the main cable through from grill to engine bay, go from bottom not top like video. Theres a cutout space in the plastic to fit. Hope this helps.

    Hey mate. We don’t sorry just because there is so many different options with a Hilux such as tub, tub with canopy, tray, tray with canopy ect so there is no one way to install sorry but we have plenty of install videos on other cars that you can use as a guide. The Hilux Acc harness is designed to run under the car along chassis rail and come up between cab and tray to mount sockets. Hope that helps mate.

    Great install video, that harness. 🙌 Question: Redarc recommends inline fuses over circuit breakers in this case, do you know why that is? I'd prefer the ability to disconnect if I had to.

    Glad you like the video mate. The midi fuses are far more reliable as they have no moving parts like a manual reset circuit breaker. They are also bolt in connection which makes a good electrical connection. That’s why Redarc say and we agree that midi fuses are the best and most reliable connection.

    Hey Kurt, just purchased one of these off your website after watching the video. Keep up the great work. As a matter of curiosity I’m placing a control panel in the tub to run a fridge and some lights, what size wires would you suggest I run from the 2nd battery to the panel? Have never attempted any of .this so I’m a newbie!!

    Hi Angel, If you are just running a fridge and some led lights then 6mm twin would do the job mate but if your running to a controller panel with extra sockets and you think you might add to it later it might be worth running bigger cable to future proof it. I would normally run 6B&S cable to an electrical panel that has 12v sockets and Anderson plugs ect. Hope that helps mate. Cheers Kurt

    Hi Damien. The Anderson for solar has the yellow wire from the Redarc in the positive terminal and the 2nd wire in the Anderson is a black earth wire.

    Hi Kevin, great vid! I'm Tony and I have the 2017 hilux. I have a few questions. (1) So this 'isolator' takes electricity from the alternator via the main battery terminals and chargers/maintains the auxiliary battery? (2) And using this unit stops the batteries from potentially drawing on each other in parallel? (3) I have two D31T optima yellow top AGM batteries (CCA 975 / AH 75) that I haven't installed yet so I'll need to know what kit to buy. (4) I have a Warn winch that I'd like to run using the auxiliary battery only. If I install this kit and buy a fridge, which battery would you recommend I run the fridge from? (5)...and lastly, is it possible to run the winch from both batteries using your setup? Thanks in advance. Tony

  • @AussieDrifterTouring

    @AussieDrifterTouring

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Tony, Yer thats correct the bcdc is a 3 in one unit. It's an isolator to stop the aux battery from being able to flatten the cars start battery, its a dcdc charger that chargers the aux battery while driving by effectively taking power from the alternator and sending it to the aux battery and it is also a solar controller. For your set up the 25amp charger would be the best option mate. As for the winch normally we would set that up on the main crank battery and advise that it is used with the engine running and allow the alternator to keep power up to it. if you want to use both batteries you would need an override solenoid usually controlled from a switch in the dash. That would be a system seperate to this as the bcdc chargers do not allow for a high current link circuit. As for the fridge that would be wired to the aux battery. Hope that has answered all your questions mate. Cheers Kurt

    Have you spliced the negatives together, noting there is one earth from the redarc, but you have an earth running to the aux battery, main battery and anderson plug

    Hi Kevin. The Toyota Hilux has what’s called a temperature compensating alternator and not a variable voltage alternator so you don’t need to wire up the blue wire in this vehicle. In our kits for the Ford ranger or Isuzu DMax we have the ignition wire as part of the kit but this one doesn’t need it mate. Cheers kurt

    this seems like a terrible place to install its gonna be dead from exposure to the weather no matter how weatherproof it is..., also there is no need for a dc-dc charger so close to the alternator and battery?!?!?
