Red Wings reaction to not advancing to 2024 NHL playoffs, recap on season

Спорт

"It's hard, it's gutting," Dylan Larkin said after the Detroit Red Wings came up short in their goal of making the NHL playoffs after a multi-year absence.
We spoke with Larkin, David Perron, James Reimer, and Patrick Kane to get their reaction to the Capitals getting the final spot in the NHL Playoffs'; Eastern Conference bracket instead of them and to recap the Red Wings 2024 NHL season.
"There's so much potential," Kane said. "There's no quit in this team."
0:00 - 3:19 Dylan Larkin
3:20 - 6:42 David Perron
6:43 - 8:44 James Reimer
8:44 - 11:59 Patrick Kane

David Perron speaks from experience. Red Wings weren't really ready for the playoffs, allowing too many goals and like David said, maybe players weren't playing as a playoff team what comes to shift times etc. It's a lesson, Red Wings have a bright future, and I hope that Kane sticks to the team, I'm sure he'll have the playoff games next season. Raymond great season + clutch, but Red Wings need a winning playstyle, good D, good goaltending, you don't win playoff games if you play like Wings did, for example against Canadiens allowing 4 goals against but outscoring them in ot, it's not smart play. You win cups with defence, so don't allow opposite guys to score. That's what the Caps did, they won Detroit 3-2 couple weeks ago, they won against Boston and also Tampa last week. Caps also allowed only 1 goal against in their last 2 games, they won both of them. It's a lesson to be learned.

A lot of "what if's" here in this story. At the end of the day the Wings needed to play better in the games that they got blown out in and lost to horrible teams. With that being said, I do think it's kind of crap that Washington made it and we did not when we were tied for points, and we had one more win than they did. Washington also has a -37 goal differential LOL. Yes, I get the tie breakers and how the math added up but I do wish the NHL would examine these tie breaker rules again. Why would you measure regulation wins over just wins? We had 41 wins and Washington had 40. Plain and simple.

Incremental improvements are there and we've got a young core and exciting prospects in the pipeline and good things WILL HAPPEN to restore former glories. These stupid overtime loses but the loser still earns a point is crazy. You lose a game you don’t get a participation award. Either losers in overtime get no points or winner gets 3 points and loser gets 1. Much rather see Detroit in the playoffs than Washington. Seem like the refs in that game see it differently. Hope Rangers knock the capitals out in 4 games

It's hard not to point the finger at management for not bringing in help at deadline time. Both this season and last had potential to make the playoffs, and yet at trade deadline nothing happens🤔. Would have been different if Mr I were still alive. Spend some money this season and give this city what it's been begging for.

I think the most disappointing thing is that we got a look at what kind of playoff team this would have been in the second half of their games these last two weeks. idk that they upset a 1 seed or anything but coming in hot, full of excited youth, already in that do or die mode would have made this team a tough out if they stole one of the first 2 games and your goalie wasn't 100% dialed in. The growth was there before this hot streak and this just kind of unified them. now we just need fans to not over react. Yzerman was brought in A) for having a proven record of building sustainable success but also because B) they knew it wouldn't be a quick turnaround and Yzerman has a name and record that would allow him to do it right with his decisions and not be pressured constantly in detremental ways like some pro teams (aka NY Jets)

Don’t put yourself in that position and expect help from other teams. It’s very simple. You had your chances to beat Washington and failed.

Coach should’ve been fired during that late 7 game losing streak. I get you’re rebuilding but that was an absolute train wreck. A message needed to be sent to players and coaching staff.

two nights of absolute mediocracy by the canadians ! ive never seen a team blow leads like they did and especialy give up goals with seconds to play ! thankfully the caps put an end to the nonsense ! montreal shoulf be ashamed of that display but they are probably excited to go golfing instead !

It’s alright. Anyone saying the Yzerplan is dead and he needs to go is an idiot. We haven’t been in this position in YEARS. We’re finally getting over the hump of the shit show Holland left behind. I now firmly believe we will be a consistent playoff team within a year or two. Just need to find our true goalie tandem, and keep working on developing the defensive core. First step is locking down Seider and Raymond on new deals this summer. LGRW.

Veleno tried to end a guys career last year. Perron tried to end a guys career this year. Holl was a self sabotage pickup. And Reimer is a garbage idiot. So a little cleaning up in the ranks and you will make the playoffs next year.
