These newts arrived along with the black knobby newts that I got from Wharf Aquatics. I tried to sex them by spreading their cloacae, but my attempts weren't terribly successful; I need more practice at it. After trying for a bit, I let the newts go, since both the newts and myself were getting stressed by the endeavour.
They were supposed to be Mandarin newts (Tylototriton shanjing), but they turned out to be Tylototriton kweichowensis. I've no complaints about how things turned out; Tylototriton kweichowensis a rarer, lesser-known species than shanjing.
