The way Rockstar is mistreating and disrespecting RDR2 and RDO, I'm starting to think that we got the game thanks to Dan Houser and the veteran staff. Now that they have left, Rockstar is a shell of a company with poor management

I'm still on my 1st playthrough of RDR2's story campaign. I'm sort of in this weird purgatory. I refuse to go see the guy that made Arthur sick. I've know about this games story mode for a long while. I watched lots of videos about the game since I couldn't afford it for the longest time. So, basically, I self spoiled. XD The Story campaign is an amazing ride. But I also enjoy the online mode as it means I can enjoy it with the company of some of my friends. I haven't had the game for very long, but for some people or a lot of people, online mode is where it's at for them after they've finished the story mode. And the longer standing veterans of the game are itching for some new content, like new DLC's that may open up Mexico or add some type of legit train heists, Native American DLC, opening up Guarma in its fullest, more horse coats, more horse breeds (there are a lot more American horses that they could possibly add), more guns, owning houses that you can customize that may replace that camp you hangout at. Some people think that the online mode should be free to get more people into it. And if more people get into it, that means more people will possibly buy more gold bars. And R* likes money. :3

@Sehajmeet Sohal how did it not gain enough popularity, it sold 45million copies, i get what your saying that bit just not so true at all. It started dying down because of the lack of content from the game. Alot of games provide continuous updates even if the game stops making money or doesnt make money at all. It is yet again still just a business trying to make money and thats all it will ever be now. Games are no longer the niche it was before that only a sum of people enjoyed. And because of that this is the beast we fed and grew and now look at rockstar. Not updating a game that sold 45 million copies. just a joke fr .

@Sehajmeet Sohal I think thats because gta 5 has been on 3 generations of consoles and rdr2 has not been out as long. In the years to come it will also be the same for rdr2 i believe. I truly believe rdr2 was made for more and the only reason it didnt generate revenue is because of the way the game was treated. Which is rockstars fault. Undoubtedly. I just think saying it wasnt popular sounds weird to me considering the average number of buys normal games get.

Rockstar really just abandoned one of their best selling games of all time and didn't even try post launch. I see so many gta fan boys say "well if you wanted to support the game more you should've bought more gold bars". Since when is it the job of the consumer to force the company to put out quality products? No-one bought gold bars because there was next to nothing to spend it on so why spend your hard earned money on in game currency when they don't even bother to give you an incentive to wanna spend money? Rockstar and take two just expected RDRO to automatically print money for them without putting in any real work and when it didn't they just decided oh it's a failure time to just say fuck It. Dude you're 100% correct. Rockstar does NOT care about it's fans or communities. They do NOT treat their customers/fans with any sort of respect instead treating us like a wallet. When they want more money they release some extremely repetitive dlc to GTA then make every stupid expensive so new or people with not so much money on their character have to buy shark cards. They tried to do this to RDO but since there's not much to really buy in the game people ended up saving all of their money. So now pretty much the entire fan base has the equivalent of millions of dollars and Rockstar knows this. So what it looks like they are pretty much punishing the fan base because they're not going to make any money off of us, so they're not going to release any new content and just let the game die since they can't immediately pay wall people and force them to buy gold bars.

You can't listen to people like that. They are the reason the gaming industry has gone down hill. They constantly reward these companies for sub par games, so nothing will change. RDR 3 online hopefully will get better treatment from rockstar. Considering that game will likely take place at the vary tail end of the wild west era 1914-1919 with Jack. Planes, cars, more semi auto and automatic weapons all exist at this point in time and are common enough in society (at least in cities). Hopefully that will be a separate mode though. So that way people who want a GTA online experience in western rural America can have that with planes and cars basically (Battlefield 1 tech as dlc) but you still have the traditional western aspects and normal stereotypical western DLC. Just with ww1 era technology in the mix. While more traditional western lovers will have a different online mode option that is still based on the western/frontier experience minus most of the planes and cars and ww1 era guns. I guess a more realistic take to the tail end of 1910’s wild West era lifestyle considering rural, remote areas usually are the slowest to want to advanced technology and modernize lifestyle.

"I gave you all I had, Dutch". That line still gets me to this day. That and Arthur admitting to the nun that he was afraid are the most memorable. I recall early in the game telling myself that I will do 2 playthroughs. 1st as good guy. 2nd as a bad guy. Then afterwards, I came to the conclusion that the good guy route was absolutely perfect IMO, and choosing a bad karma playthru would just tarnish the good name of Arthur Morgan. It still amazes me how before RDR2, seemed like everyone (myself included) were up in arms about the story not being centered around John Marston, who, at the time, was one of the most beloved characters in gaming. All credit to Rockstar and Roger Clark that Arthur is now more loved than John. I hate the conditions these developers had to go thru during production. However, I'm so happy that it wasn't in vain. This game is one of my favorites of all time.

The final act before the epilogue definitely had me in tears many times. The long ride back with the sound track playing after finding out the truth about Micah for example. I completely agree that Arthur becoming a better person towards the end is the best or my head cannon at least. I told myself I’d have an evil play through but after multiple replays I could never bring myself to do it. It’s awful the crunch Rockstar put its devs through to create this masterpiece… but it definitely showed in the end. I can’t think of anything that would have improved the game.

The complete lack of single player expansions/DLC has to be one of the largest and MOST OBVIOUS missed opportunities in modern gaming. Rockstar treated RDR2 like it was going to be the next GTA5 Online and it didn't work because it's a completely different game. There was a sense of community built up around GTA 5 mixed with the style/setting of the game that made it the perfect candidate for an online experience. On the other hand, RDR2 was 100% built around enhancing the single player experience. Even with how the epilogue plays out it seems like at some point there was meant to be more. Charles and Sadie both have so much potential for expanded stories, letting us play as John Marston again, literally HALF THE MAP not being playable until the end of the main game and once you got there it had almost nothing for the player to do. I don't see how Rockstar could have put that amount of time and resources into this world without planning to use it. Undead Nightmare 2 would have been an automatic win, or imagine a remake of the first Red Dead Redemption built into this game. Honestly, with how much this game has dropped off the radar since release, unless Rockstar chooses the use and build off of what's already there, it's not likely we'll see another Red Dead game like this. Another 8 years and $540 million after all this wasted potential would be an insanely risky gamble at that point. Please let this prediction be wrong.

If the micro transactions are your hang up for online, you may be releaved to know (the main reason they abandoned it) THERE IS NOTHING TO BUY. I played the online off and on for years, and never once found myself in a situation where I needed gold for something (basically like 1 good horse, some cosmetics, and unlocking roles) and didn't already have enough of it from just doing missions. It's depressing that they added just enough micro transactions to turn people away, but not enough to make any difference in the game, and couldn't make money because people won't pay much for something that does nothing. Most of the fun online was just riding around with your gang, going fishing, hunting, wrecking cops in st. Denis, and Rockstar couldn't figure out how to monetize that. Most of the aimless wandering I would do in single player was just as fun online. I'd recommend giving it a shot. You progress pretty quickly for a while, and you won't run out of new content for a long time, but the best content is the friends you make along the way

Everything you do holds weight and the open world is alive and without realism this could not have been achieved to this level of masterclass. 4 years after and it is still a masterpiece Damn! This video actually made me replay it again. I have it on PC but did not finish it. Excited to get home from work and start over… thanks LegacyKilla. Awesome video

My biggest problem with the game is the inconsistencent realism/realism in what I belive to be misplaced areas. Imagine a game where all the resources spent on shrinking horseballs, jacket mud animation etc went into having a truly innovative law enforcement system. No more teleporting psychic cops like in any other rockstar game, but a system of lawmen patrolling the map, ala nemesis system from the mordor games. Don't get me wrong here, I love these graphic details, they all add up to a mind blowing visual simulation. My point is that I wish more of the effort went into furthering game mechanical realism, like a patrol based law system. When I get hunted down by teleporting lawmen, it kind of breaks the illusion that the visuals are working so hard to maintain.

Wow - that was great. RDR2's single player was such a great experience. I had missed the RD games that came before it. It was interesting to learn about them. One super minor thing. @42:49 that looks like a wolf. Not a coyote. I only know, because our neighborhood has had an influx of coyotes coming through. They are a problem for people with outdoor pets.

It's a wolf call you hear in the background when you choose bad deeds as well, not a coyote yip/cry.

RDR2 is a masterpiece. It has a plot comparable to Leone's and Tarantino's movies, original and amazing soundtrack, amazing graphic, physics and AI. This is not only a game, it is an art experience that can be loved also from people who hate video games. I wonder when we will be able to achieve this quality again.

amazing is a big word. it doesnt add up with rdr1, the epilogue is a fan service instead of what it was supposed to be, john left the gang and never looked back. so him returning to camp after the train robbery is non cannon, him doing the revenge thing is non canon, the epilogue is non canon. they had 8 years and couldnt even get this right, and you call this amazing bro? repetetive npc quests are amazing? really bro?

46:25 I always wondered why Dutch got so crazy even with Arthur and John around, but looking back, all of Dutch's missions were so much fun! Why go to Tahiti and farm mangos when we can fight the federal government in ever increasingly insane plots and schemes!

Loved RDRevolver, RDR, and RDR2 but if R* made a game set in the same time or a bit earlier with a completely different set of characters I'd wanna play it. It doesn't have to be an extension of this story for me. Don't get me wrong I'd also play another RDR installment as well.

When I put my horse on auto-travel, it would routinely walk into the side of moving trains (getting flung like 20 feet neighing loudly and launching Arthur off its back) instead of stopping at the crossing and waiting for the train to pass. It was kind of hilarious, but also disappointing -- for a game which put so much emphasis on realism, it seems like they missed some pretty obvious flaws.

I’m on my second play through and it actually makes some sense to me why this happens. It’s annoying as hell but you’re really meant to explore the world and it doesn’t stop existing because you’re in cinematic. I’ve gotten attacked by wolves and ambushed by gangs while in cinematic. It’s not really meant to let you check out while traversing.

To sum up my feelings over a 70 minute video without typing a college thesis: I think RDR2 has one of the best singleplayer campaigns in video game history I think it has *THE* best open-world map in video game history I don't like how, like true Rockstar fashion, they made people crunch under development I hate how they handled the launch of Red Dead Online and how they abandoned it so quickly Red Dead Online is the worst and blatantly the most boring multiplayer open-world experience I have ever played. I'd rather play The Division or Watch Dogs multiplayers than play Red Dead Online Rockstar is honestly a fantastic video game studio when they create singleplayer experiences, but they *always* flop hard when it comes to multiplayers

Yeah it makes no sense to me that they would invest half a billion dollars and almost a decade to make a game then just abandon it immediately. You'd think they would want to milk it for as much money as possible like they did with gta 5.
