Luis Revilla It's a game made by the creator themselves. Lack of color is basically every UE4 game with default lightings ever. Upcoming Shonen Jump game, every UE4 demo ever, and all those UE4 games on Steam. The default lighting in UE4 is the problem. Unless the devs decided they want to write their own lighting codes, UE4 games will look dull and shitty. Fortnite was initially made with UE3 I believe. And it's a game made by Epic Games... if it looks like shit, Epic might as well kill themselves. Why bother releasing an Engine that they had no idea about then?

Funny to think in 2010 we were gushing over red dead redemption graphics and here we are doing it again 8 years later. Makes me wonder what games will look like in 8 more years. Can games actually get any more realistic looking????

Games from 10 years ago still look really good....I think we are hitting a wall with graphics and now developers are focusing on little things to help make the game feel more realistic...if you looked at a game from 2010 and a game from 2002 you would see a huge difference but a game from 2018 and 2010 the difference is much smaller.

I believe videogame industry is reaching a top when it comes to visuals, graphically speaking. However, that doesnt mean they cant keep getting better. I think the idea from now on is to stop trying to just "pretend to look real" and start trying to actually "feel real". For example: Making every building in a city enterable, every cloud in the sky not a texture, every single spectator on a sports game highly detailed, every single leaf, every stone and every grain of sand on the ground an individual object and not a texture on a huge polygon, etc. Games will now start to get better not visually, but phisically, slowly decreasing the use of textures to fool the eye and increasing the information that it can be procesed so those objects actually become part of the game's world.

Don't forget Red dead 2 is designed for the base PS4 and Xbox one, which are about 1.5-2 terraflops. My gtx 1080 I s 9 terraflops, imagine what they could look like with that power. Roll on PS5.

@Joshua Shank exactly they never get bad. That's the only studio that can accomplish that yet. Rockstar games are always legends in open world no matter what. They always gave a variety of things to do in every single game. Not just pasting boring collectibles and that's it, no they add a layer on top of that with different side missions like all GTA games and that's lacking in other open world games that are not made by rockstargames. At the end of the day rockstar will always win no matter what. They know how to create an open world game and they even accomplished in these hard days for the gaming industry to get a masterpiece right here. Ubisoft, all other developers never managed to get that level.

Maybe it’s because in the time period of red dead redemption 1 (which was further in the future) , explosives were more powerful than in rdr 2 ( which is why the explosion is “worse)

I was up in the Grizzlies for a stranger's mission and, out of curiosity, had Arthur walk on one of the frozen lakes. What surprised me was whenever Arthur slipped, the lake made that cool booming sound frozen lakes make in real life. It was that attention to detail that blew my mind. Also, I love how the snow tracks look different depending on the kind of snow you're walking on; the fresh snow looked fluffier and the older snow looked dirtier and slushier. Unlike the first RDR, I didn't feel the need to get to where I wanted to go as fast as possible because traveling doesn't feel tedious in this game. I spent several real-world hours slowly trekking to Amberino and back and enjoyed every minute of it. At one point, I stopped near the border of Amberino and New Hanover and could actually see one biome merge into the other. I wanted to take a picture of it, but by the time I got the camera out, the view of New Hanover completely misted over as it started to snow. It was fucking awesome.

Your horse was unrealistically fast all of the time in RDR. It makes sense that they slowed it down a little in the sequel.

We need a RDR 1 remaster after 3 months

The heat wave effect is definitely in rdr 2. I've seen it many times now.

Nonetheless, RDR1 was so ahead of it's time. This is a such a quality game series by Rockstar.

You can upgrade dynamite in rdr 2 that's probably how you can get a bigger boom

In 2010 rdr1 looked STUNNING, I remember being blown away by it. Now in 2018 rdr2 continues the legacy with its stunning graphics.

A great comparison. The sound comparison for the revolver also showed how far Rock Star has come with the animation. In the original RDR, John looked like he was shooting a double-action revolver, just pulling the trigger. In RDR 2, Arthur looks like he is firing an authentic single-action revolver, having to actuate the hammer with his thumb first before pulling the trigger for each round. Reloads look more authentic too.

No my friend.. THIS is the beginning of the next-next-gen graphics. Graphics did greatly improve after the One/Ps4 released. But we're seeing some PS5 graphics or at least a something like it.

With 8 years difference, RDR1 did a very great job!!!!

@mabbohabb Depends on a chamber size, the length of a barrel, the amount of charge etc. The sound of a weapon being shot is much more dependant on different factors than the sound of an explosive device. That being said, the subject matter is not the sound, it's the visual side of the explosion. Dynamite is a nitroglycerine based explosive, its components were not massively altered since its inception so the effect of the explosion should look the same, especially given the fact that the amount of time passed from the second game to first is not that great.

@@retropolis1 were both still kinda wrong. The actual OG XB1 is only 720p while the Xb1S is 860p. Most ppl disregard the launch XB1 and refer to the 1S as the base model making it hard to find spec reviews for the launch xb1

by the way, the heat effects ARE still in RDR2. i saw it yesterday when i played. i was in a hot area and you could see distortion from the heat.

@@cwpss because more and more kids do these comparisons, and it ends up in rockstar only caring about graphics and the size of the map, which is so empty there barely is anything to do. look at gta 5. great graphics, big map with nothing to do on it. thats pretty much where gaming is going. and its not gonna get better in the future. rdr2 confirms what i say. its a game with great graphics and a big ass map, but the game itself is pretty boring. the emphasis is on the graphics and size of the map. because of comments like the one of ghosttea. im not disagreeing that it looks good because obviously it does, but to keep praising that nonstop back to back? if i made a game and i read comments like this, i would litterally stop caring about content and make nice looking games with big maps. because it will be praised for that anyway. thats exactly what rockstar is doing. and again its not gonna get better. sorry for being bitter, but i hate to see my beloved hobby going down the drain because of stupid casual gamers who care about graphics. have fun with the game though.

InsectBrad Also that statement should be relative for example in AC Origins you could say that since it is a prequel to the series it would make sense to say that way the hidden blade works would be different to the other games, that makes sense. However you couldn't use that line of logic to explain certain lore changes.

well i know for a fact that the gun sounds in red dead 2 sound a lot more "real" the reverb you get after the gunshot has been heard is audible in red dead 2 as opposed to red dead 1 where its just the gun shot and no ambient changes in the air/world afterwards.

I hope that Rockstar Games will remaster red dead redemption for the next gen consoles and for the PC

I enjoyed the video, thank you. I did want to say that you can craft higher tier dynamite so maybe that's why the explosion in your video is smaller, due to it being the lesser Dynamite. Just a thought.

Could you compare red dead redemption 2 to assassins creed Odyssey as they are both good looking games and both heavily feature horses, wildlife, plants, etc

AC Odyssey is not really that good looking. In fact, I'd argue that the best looking AC game is AC Unity to this day.

@@dc6191 What you think does not matter. Unity is technically much more advanced than Black Flag and even Odyssey lacks some of the features that Unity had. It's not a matter of subjectivity.

RDR2 is a masterpiece the only flaw I saw was the dynamite which should be more powerful but that’s so subtle compared to everything else

If anything I’m even more impressed with the first Red Dead Redemption. These games are ahead of their time, respectively.

Great video. I love Red Dead 1 and my copy of Red Dead 2 arrives today!! Can't wait to dive in.

So in the bit where you show a clip of the sounds, one thing you didn't take into account is the sound of the bullet in different environments, in the new game, it'll echo in significantly different ways determined by your environment (such as biome) and the surface you shoot at, this adds a significant amount how realistic the sound is in the new one.

I have seen the distant heat shimmer when I was near the oil fields in the sequel, I think it's just less prominent in the starting areas because of the cooler temperatures

I replayed about many times now.. still not get over it!😘 luv everything about it😍

I whistled for my horse and kept running, thinking she would come up alongside and let me just jump on in a continued stride like in the first one. Instead she stops about 8 feet away and I have to run to her and hop on. I have the white arabian with the current best stirrups and bonded level 4. It doesn't feel like she goes any faster than my war horse. Handling is a little off during ambushes, she's ran into a tree twice already when i was aiming... I still don't get this all seeing, all knowing wanted system. I keep getting pinched for crimes no one saw me commit.
