If it helps, every colossus is introduced through a cutscene, and the only one that drags you under water is the eel with the glowing horns

"Oh it's beautiful I fucking hate it."

One of my favorite details about the Forbidden Lands is how this setting manages to be so lush and beautiful, yet so utterly *lifeless*. Save for the lizards you can hunt, there is not a single native animal to be found for the entire game, in spite of how much the land itself seems to be thriving, until the end credits. It's a detail I hadn't noticed right away while playing, but once you dis it added this wonderful sense of melancholy and subtle sense of wrongness to the landscape. And the fact that its only after everything is said and done, when the colossi are all dead and Dormin is sealed away seemingly forever, that the natural wildlife starts to return, opens the way to a lot of fun questions and theories for the player to consider.

There's something incredibly satisfying about hearing the casual Shadow Fandub (Bing Bong you're doing a bad job) and Tom Cardy (Let's never go back to Dinosaur Island) references and just going "oh, they have the same media brainrot as me. neat."

Maybe you figure it out later in the video, but you actually can pet Agro.

In fairness, while it was not the first (Ocarina of Time is substantially older; it's the first I know of), it's the first time I've played a game where a horse has felt a: like I'm not driving a semitruck without power steering and b: it's the first and best time I've experienced the feeling of riding a *creature* with *intent* as opposed to just a horse shaped car. Having done horseback riding as a kid, there is a huge difference between handling a horse and handling a vehicle. The vehicle will go exactly where you tell it to go and will only stop doing that if something major breaks, the horse will interpret your instructions as strong suggestions, then consider if there's a reason to not follow them. For instance: if you get a car up to highway speeds, point it at a brick wall, and just keep it going, your car is gonna smash into that wall and be destroyed. (Please don't test this, odds are you will also be destroyed, even with modern crumple zone tech, there's limits.) The horse, on the other hand will gallop hard toward that wall until you're fairly close and then either take a very sharp turn to one side or just stop. (And unless you're a very good horseback rider, you will probably find yourself flying towards that wall, just not with a horse under you. So please don't test this either.) But my point is, this is very much a thing even in less dire circumstances. If you're riding a horse on a forest trail, the main thing you have to watch for is branches hanging low enough that the horse can get under them but you can't. The horse can follow the trail just fine. (You also have to keep the horse moving, because it might just go "oh, that looks tasty" and wander off towards some nearby plant at any moment). Honestly it's more like walking a dog than driving a car. This is, by the way, why infantry discipline was so extremely important to defeating cavalry charges - an unruly mob of frightened soldiers is porous enough that a horse can find a way to gallop through...and will do so, probably bowling people over and generally increasing the chaos in that group to the point where they rout. A solid formation presenting a wall of shields, pikes, bayonets or the like, on the other hand looks very much like a wall to a horse (with the possible addition of being a very spiky wall), and each horse in the charging line will try to stop, turn left, or turn right, at which point your cavalry charge becomes a tangled mess of horse, a bunch of riders who are either struggling to stay on or have been flung into the infantry formation and are currently in the process of being stabbed by said infantry...and another several rows of horses riding full tilt into it having not anticipated that the horses right in front of them would suddenly become the aforementioned tangled mess. This is why cavalry kinda stopped working as well when they were turned on solidly trained professional armies...though that training had to be *rock solid.*

I do love how in every colossus death clip, while you see this giant strangely beautiful monstrosity plummet to earth or the depths, often with far too much grace for a being of its size falling limply to the ground....you see Wander just *flung* off as the game takes away control and thus causes him to stop holding on for dear life. The contrast makes replays and such far, far more hilarious than they should be.

Note for anyone struggling with Pelgia (aka #12). you can swim faster by holding the grab button. it also allows you to avoid its lightning shots.

Another method, though it's a bit risky, is to wait until it gets close, wait until after its lightning shots, then jump and grab its face. Seriously; its face consists of climbable ledges, so one can climb up Pelagia's face rather than swim to its tail.

One of the most beautifully animated horses I've ever seen hands down. The entire game is gorgeous, but I could mistake that horse for a video of a real life stallion galloping. So freaking good!

Important addition to the OSP lore: the way they usually play games is the same way they sound like when they think they aren't recording.

That jump off the ramp at the third colossus took me so endlessly long the first time I played the game. I hadn't had much experience with game controllers. It probably took well over half an hour.
