Red Alert 2 Has Heavy Metal!? Opera Singer Reacts
Ойындар
This is an interesting track. I don't know anything about Red Alert 1 or 2 as RTS games aren't really things I play, but it's interesting to hear how we invoke a sense of military might and fear and concern with instruments. In this case..Heavy Metal, which is pretty cool.

The Soviet campaign in RA2 immediately begins with a Soviet raid on the damn Pentagon lol. It doesn't get _quite_ as wacky as the third game, but it just holds nothing back and I love it. It's a cool contrast too, 'cause like, NOD is all about guerilla tactics and subterfuge to deal with GDI's superior might, whereas the Soviets are already a world superpower and they are not afraid to just slam themselves into the enemy head on. Also yes, the entire franchise has absolutely stellar music.

Frank Klepacki made so many bangers for so many Command and Conquer games, and he even came back and remixed some songs for some non-official modded versions of the old games. Man is really a legend.
The RA2 intro movie incorporates the elements of this track really well: - It opens with the ominous silhouettes of enemy airships and naval forces on approach. - "Westwood Studios proudly presents" - Air-raid siren blares as the camera pans up towards a cloudy sky filled with Soviet paratroopers and aircraft. - Missiles take to the skies as ground forces stage amphibious landings. - The track ends as a double-barreled Apocalypse tank swings it's gun towards the camera and fires. - Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2

Red Alert has a lot of banger soundtracks, glad that they're getting featured here! HM2, RA3's Hell March 3, RA3's Soviet March (I think you'd provide awesome analysis on this as there's a singer), Grinder (RA2 main menu music), and Destroy (where there's a French lady speaking some words) are my personal favorites from the series. There's also an entire concert collab by Frank Klepacki (the music guy of C&C) and the Tiberian Sons (a band that made covers of the Command and Conquer music) on KZread. My 8 year old self thought it's just a primal scream (I'm not a native English speaker though, so I was still learning a second language, let alone recognize a third), and my 25+ year old self was just so enthralled by the instruments to pay attention to the line 😂
Whoah. Didn't expect to see this in the channel. Absolutely stoked and hyped to see this, but never would have guessed in a million years it would be tackled. Hell March 2 was and is still my most favorite track in Red Alert 2: I had it looped while playing with friends, and it's still one of my go-to-tracks when I need to feel pumped up. But I admit that part of it's soft spot for me was because I also really liked the original Hell March back on the first Red Alert. I wouldn't spoil that song in the off, OFF chance you might tackle it (here's to hoping), but I do like comparing and contrasting both songs and being stuck on deciding which I like better. I'll have to say looking at it back, I did like Hell March 2 better as it feels like an evolution of the song, as well as it just ends in the proper note. I also feel that it's timed well, and the beat really feels like putting you yourself in almost marching mood. On another note, when you mentioned putting things that are not musical instruments in a song, the first thing that immediately came to mind (other than this) was Pokémon Sword and Shield's Vs Eternatus fight Phase 3. It just really encapsulates the story and puts an epic spin to the situation. Sword and Shield is actually pretty good at using non-musical elements in their songs to great effect, come to think of it. The infamous Galarian Gym Theme is almost unseparable from the crowd chants and cheers at this point, no matter what the version is.
There was an often overlooked game called Emperor: Battle for Dune. The soundtrack was awesome. For Atreides was arabesquish music by Frank Klepaki, for Ordos it was techno by Jarrid Mendelson and for Harkonnen it was some industrial by David Arkenstone. Yes, three composers, writing separate unique soundtracks for each faction. Definitely check it out.
One of the most recognizable and memorable video game tracks for anyone that did any PC gaming in the 90s and 2000s OG Hell March is amazing but 2 will always have a special place in my heart as Red Alert 2 was the first RTS I actually beat 100%.

@@Skourillo I like them both, though I much prefer RA2's more macro style and it really fit well with my casual matchups with my brother. Our matches usually start off with him being more battle ready than me as I just keep focus on expansion and decorating my territory and when he attacks it's either he crushes my forces easily or my territory is too big and my armies that were for decoration hold him off enough to have all the decoration bases pump a lot of units to counteract him in which scenario he'll start doing guerilla tactics, like with chrono legionnaires, mirage tanks, etc. It always felt like a cold war when we would first start because whoever attacks first disgruntles the other because we'd give each other time to raise our armies though as I've mentioned I'd be more on decorating my bases at first. Red Alert 3 because of its small maps and micro focused gameplay, made our casual matches a bit less casual because we'd have to fight sooner because of our close proximity and less space for expansion and stacking armies doesn't bode well for older PCs...
For reference, the Red Alert games is an alternate timeline where Germany wasn't a major power during WW2, but the Soviet Union moved in and served as the primary enemy of the Allied nations creating a new kind of WW2. When Klepaki hits, he hits extremely hard. Good analysis. Theres a number of in game elements with some of the sounds but those come across without explanation as youve successfully analyzed. Bravo, sir.
I can safely state that I probably have more game time in the C&C universe then any other franchise to date. And most of it is linked to the OST. I do enjoy you're perspective in the content you provide, and I'm eager to see what comes next!

The themes to the Red Alert games were such a critical component to really cement you on the path to playing them. It was such a shift in terms of what video game music could be. They were accompanied with cinematics, but at the time, even at the time, the cinematics were kind of hokey. Personally, I love the concept of time travel in storytelling, but the music also left such an imprint on me. Every now and then I still seek some of these songs out and give them a listen.

Holy shit this brings back memories. My first ever rts
There is also Hell March 3, there is an robotic and electronic feel to it, which is fitting considering that in Red Alert 3, Japan was a playable faction, with super advanced technologies and robotics, and the Soviets are the ones being invaded this time.

Frank Klepacki is a legend, the original Hell March was one of the first songs I HAD to learn back when I started playing guitar
This is one of the RTS i grew up playing with (aside from Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires). althou i first heard Hell March with Red Alert 1, but they ramp up the theme in RA2 and RA2 Yuri's Revenge.
talking about rts games, my origin is definitely everything from westwood. i still remember back in 90s i was just a dumb primary school kid and was losing a mission in original c&c campaign, instead of anything i just ejected the cd rom and caused a bsod.(back then hard drives are small and game files are stored on cd rom for reading) and i get a hard beating session by parents since they believed that i had busted the pc, and back then pcs were really expensive even than now. nostalgic. the original c&c , ra2 and its expansion are in my opinion the prime work of frank klepacki had done for this franchise. have fun exploring.
So nostalgic. RA2 was my childhood game and this is my favourite bgm from the game.
one of my favorite games of all times. Such a fun and good RTS game. Loved the character Yuri :D
Whenever I hear a song using non-instrument sounds I recall the most overpowering example I know called 'Garage' from Streets of Sim City. The first few sounds you hear are things like a car door closing, a hiss of steam or a wrench. Over the next two minutes more and more sounds of things you would find in a car garage are added and you've got practically an entire orchestra of random objects before you hear an actual instrument. Jerry Martin is a legend.
How have I seen so many of your videos and JUST NOW Found out you reacted to HELL MARCH 2?!?!?!
Red alert was peak gaming in the past, we used to have lan parties and played for hours on end. I even got into trouble once when i skipped class just to play.

Red alert 2 was one of the few games from my early childhood I played all the time. The C&C games just have amazing soundtracks especially the Red Alert games. The Soviet March from Red Alert 3 is another great soundtrack if you haven’t checked it out already. it’s the reason why I got hooked on the Red Army Choir.
Rightfully excited, I didn't expect to see you react to Frank Klepacki's music composed for RA series, so I was caught off-guard, much to my enjoyment. Tracks "In Deep" and "Drok" are also wonderful if you ask me, so feel free to have a look at them. Frank Klepacki is among my favorite composers along with Yu-Peng Chen/HOYO-MiX, Damjan Mravunac and many more. Speaking of Damjan Mravunac, since you just reacted to Frank Klepacki's music from 2000, I believe that the chances of reaction videos for older games got even higher, which includes the much-beloved and nostalgic-at-this-point Serious Sam series. I advise you that, you should definitely take a look at music composed for Serious Sam: The First Encounter/The Second Encounter and Serious Sam 2, composed by Damjan Mravunac from Croatia. He is skilled at ethnic music much like Yu-Peng Chen as far as I am concerned, with his earliest works for the series in question predating the initiation of Genshin Impact's development in 2017 by 16 years. In the event that you "seriously" put this little request of mine into action, expect to come across genres ranging between Ancient Egyptian, Mesoamerican, Ancient Middle Eastern and Medieval European, along with their rock/metal-infused revival-whatever variants, with the second game of series containing much more genres that I am, sadly and simply, unable to name at the moment. It gets out of hand from that point onwards, as there are at least 6 main categories of genres in that game, probably much more in reality.
Drok was my jam as a young kid , played during lobby waiting.
5:37 Starts what I refer to as the "Command and Conquer" motif. I'm not sure if it's a thing. Or if it's in the earlier soundtracks, but I recall noticing it in a few places. One of which is in Tiberian Sun's song "Approach" at 3:37.
Gotta listen to the main theme of Red Alert 3 and it's expansion dude, they're real good
Frank klepacki is a genius artist, all of this tracks go hard to this day, even the most recent one that don’t have anything to do with command and conquer, in a whole command and conquer is Such a great series
I do remember playing c&c red alert java on my Nokia 2700 Classic And unironically listen to this for years.
God, this is my childhood. Been playing the game since my brother introduce it to me when im 12 n even till now I play it
Hell March is imo one of the most iconic and important pieces of video game music to date. Instantly recognizable, unique, intense, creates a sense of urgency and action. Absolute masterpiece. Even though Red Alert 3 was not that great, Hell March 3 definitely carried the torch and is an awesome version as well
I find it interesting that you attribute the aggeession to the enemy, whereas personally i attribute it to MYSELF. maybe thats something that came from learning the game while listening to these songs amd eventually becoming better at it amd the aggressive tones are able to fit both my enemy and myself, in conflict.
The original Red Alert and C&C were my first games. And Frank Klepacki, as a teenager, made the music for them. The man is a legend.
Pretty sure they used that drill sargeant shouting orders in Caesar 3 as the sound effects of the legions deploying.
Yo this is my childhood game. love this video
Hellmarch 2, and later on Hellmarch 3, were based on the Red Alert: Retaliation remix of the original Hellmarch. It doesn't get as heavy as Hellmarch 2, but you can hear the barebones of it in the remix. Fun fact: The original Hellmarch was originally written for Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn. It was a Nod track, but they realized it didn't quite fit, so it was shelved until they were working on Red Alert (which was originally just another expansion like Covert Operations and Sole Survivor, until it became a full game). Frank and the higher ups at Westwood realized this was the perfect Soviet theme.
Hell March 2 is my favorite Red Alert 2 song so far. First time I introduce this game from my friend. But because of language barrier make me do not know how to play it, then my friend show me how to play and what to do in game. What a good time.
There is a song I would really like a review off, is the Homeworld version of Adagio for strings. infact homeworld 1 and homeworld cataclysm have really good sound tracks.
well better watch the video for it its just the best start to a game. btw that little melodie starting at 5.37 is the sorta intendet theme for command and conquer over all but i am sure they dropt it from later itterations.
way back in the day i had my friend get me a pirated copy of the sound track so i could listen to this song over and over
The C&C RA2 Soundtrack is a fucking gem. Frank Klepacki is a god for his work on the C&C series, especially the OST for C&C Remastered. You ought to check out Act on instinct, both the OG and the Remastered. They're an excellent showcase on how Frank managed to just masterfully improve on his original work.
While we are at C&C the original had some real bangers: No Mercy, Act on Instincy ans In the Line of Fire are great!
ah the memories, this game made me a RTA fan !
The soundtrack of this game was quite wild for 8 year old me when I got this game. Frank Klepacki is a god darn genious.
Love C&C so much, especially Red Alert 2! Still hoping for a RA2 remaster 😭
Man, the OG Hell March was my childhood. Red Alert was my jam next to Starcraft: Brood War. ♥ Hell March 2 was just an improvement on the original in every way.
So if you want more fell lil bit orchestral Hell March 3 from Red Alert 3 i recommend although the music kinda same but feels a little bit different (for me at least).
There's actually interesting stuff if you search up the "line said in hell march 2". If you browse around apparently it can be interpreted ambiguously by listener as military orders of several languages. However there's an actual thread on the steam discussions forum for this that talks about the actual line spoke and its source. Apparently it's not Die waffen leicht an, as it is not a command found in any German Drill manuals, and Kelpacki has admitted to not knowing where the line was sourced from in later interviews. But he mentions particular sampling a particular instruction video for the marching noise then mixing the command shouted from that video in. Turns out the line being shouted is Reform Line, Quick march. An shortened version of Reform Line, Remainder, Quick March. Which does exist in canadian manuals and was the nationality of the video in question. That thread points to DrillMilitary 1019_13_2.mp3 and DrillMilitary 1019_13_3.mp3 on stockmusic as the source clips.
Red Alert 3 also has a great soundtrack, even the credit music is great it gives off victory but at cost, like it’s over but you need time to heal, like a wounded knight, winning a duel with 2 other knights by the skin of his teeth
i want more RA2 music, i didnt know it was an option and now i need it XD
Now you need to do Hell March and Hell March 3.
Well, since you're listening to some Red Alert 2 tunes... Perhaps look at the soundtrack for the Red Alert 2 mod,Mental Omega? The crew tapped World Beyond and Black Ice 9 to make the soundtracks for two of the mod's factions.

Iron and blood, courage and sacrifice, glory and honor to sacrifice for the fatherland and die for the lives of others, these are the slogans of the war that take the enthusiasm of young people and soldiers to the mill of the Black Death. I enjoyed watching the video and was inspired to write this review thank you.
You should check out the remaster version Frank Klepacki and the Tiberium Sons did were they melded both RA Hell March 2 and 3, well worth a listen too
