Red Addict campervan

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Red Addict campervan was introduced by Dreamer, a division of Rapido, in January 2020 at the CMT trade fair in Stuttgart where this was filmed. Its main sales points appear to be its comparitively low price, the tent in the roof and the colour. So what do you think?
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my KZread channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Benimar, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow and others.
I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

The 5.4m length of the Dreamer means that it can be used as an everyday vehicle. 6m is just that bit too big for car spaces etc. Vans of either length are great in town too.

@@VanlifewithAlan Yeah. Why take up valuable space for something we use less than 1/48th of a day? A poor man's version (Sprinter Van) could be a wardrobe on castor Wheels. You'd simply roll it out and back in with all the clothing still hanging. This kind of learning and exchange of ideas is the good side of the internet.

Would it be possible to semi permanently mount a bike rack awthartships on the lower bunk? Suitable for 2 road/ touring bikes. As including oven it would be unique in under 2 metres in narrow van config.

I commented on the SkyDancer as being rather high for driving, abd more luxury than I would need. The second of these with the clever wardrobe placement is closer to my ideas. Looks like a comfortable size for 2 or three people for a touring holiday of 2-4 weeks.

I rarely read the description, so if I hadn't read the comments, I wouldn't have known there was a bit about the roof being a pop top bed, not storage, as Alan mentioned in the video. I don't suppose I'm the only one who doesn't read the description either, going by the replies. It was pretty obvious it was a bed up there though, so I was surprised by the mistake. Nice van for the size though.

Instead of saying 'tent' up there I said 'storage' - I am trying to avoid cleaners and security people trying to disturb me, copyright music which suddenly comes on - I think in these circumstances one is entitled to get words mixed up.

I think the wardrobe closing into the shower is excellent! It's a shame it's a fixed bed, a fold down from the wall with seats under it would be better in my opinion. Great small van😁

Simon, I have to consider who is watching, two thirds of viewers are not native speakers. When I started saying integrated and semi integrated, no-one else used the terms, now they are used in sales brochures. I might use these words now and again though.

I liked the second one best. The best thing about the red one is the colour, as you say. Not sure why "addict" - except for the alliteration of D sounds. Seems daft that more companies don't make a better range of colours. You didn't say why you don't like Dreamer.

The hinged cupboard in the D55 is a bit worrying. Bearing in mind of Dreamer quality I wonder how much weight that cupboard could carry. I can see those hinges coming off over time as they are supported only on plyboard. I think Knaus do a similar thing.

When I last looked the Dreamer/Rapido 55 was actually quite heavy compared to the German vans of the same size. I sort of liked the layout with the opposite shower/bathroom and combinations but for me the shower was not tall enough and the Globecar Summit 640DK did the arrangement better and with less weight. Also the low cupboards in the bed area force you to sleep heads one way, not always possible when parked on a slope. I was a big fan of the D55 Select, especially with the extra roof window when it appeared but the more I looked the less I liked it. The dinette table isn't that wide either (although better than the tiny Weinsberg ones!).

@@VanlifewithAlan one thing I don't quite understand (without having any hands-on experience with these vehicles) is why do they locate the access in the front of the car, which seems to me to be a bit in the way of someone being using the living area. Wouldn't it make more sense to access to the pop-up bed from the back, where the other bed is also located? Of course then the roof should be hinged in the front, but that isn't something never seen before (Westfalia I believe?). Do you know the reason for such a design choice? Thank you
