So govt wants to decide how long we can have our cars? Ridiculous. They don't have the guts to question the real source of pollution, and blame it on old cars.

Pathetic policies. They want us to buy coal powered EVs now.

@@SharkFishSF so true. Older cars are extremely reliable and fun to drive. I wish the solar flare destroys these stupid rulebooks first... 🤣

Nice video. Very informative and must confess is a need of the hour for India. Metal we see is crushed and made into these large cuboids. What happens to the car seats and seat belts? Any info on this would be highly helpful. We work with automotive waste like car seat belts to to create functional bags and accessories.

I sold my 15 year old Alto for ₹1.15 Lakhs and it can still run another 5 years without an engine rebuild and conforming to present pollution norms . Would I even get ₹50k back if I give it for recycling and go for a new vehicle? Responsibility is not something that the 90% have to suffer and bear with, the 10% piggy back riding on the 90% too has to take their share of the burden.

I did mention that people in Delhi NCR where rules for scrapping are the strictest, have the option of selling their vehicles before it's expiry date. But there are millions of vehicles that fail all tests, they are structurally unsafe etc., These have to go to the graveyard. Besides, when the govt frames a law, we need to adhere to it! Our video simply talks about the procedure of recycling, not the pros and cons of the policy!

@@roymastana yes I agree, but government has to ensure that the people giving up their cars to the scrapyard on compulsion get a better and fair deal. This scheme only helps manufacturers get cheap steel at the cost of the vehicle owner. Please see what a taxi cab owner invests and gets in return over 10-15 years of running it for fare. Fuel prices, taxes, cesses tolls, GST and various other cesses while getting a car serviced were already a burden on the average vehicle user, and now resale value even a year before the registration expiry has become close to junkyard value. People replacing their cars after 10-15 years used to get an amount good enough to use as downpayment for the next new car they were buying, now that option has gone. I had got offers above ₹1.35k for my car a month before the scrappage policy was finalised. Just talking about the cons of the policy which could easily be ironed out by the government. And yes I understand that this video was not about the merits of the policy as such.

@@roymastana would also like to add that compulsory scrappage policy regardless of the vehicles condition or fitness is unfair and outrageous. I mean would you say we have to adhere to laws without asking a single question if tomorrow some government brings out a law saying all 15 year old houses should be demolished regardless of their condition?

@@jalexrosh As much as you are against the scrappage policy, I too am against the policy. I do not drive much. My two old cars, a 15 years old Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Alto had barely done 50,000 km each after 15 years and I did not want it to be scrapped. Both were in mint conditions and I sold them to families in Uttarakhand at a decent price. Since the Supreme Court and the central government decided to put a time frame for cars on illogical parameters, I was shocked. Rather than years, it should be its condition that needs to be checked!

Useless policy govt is making rich people more rich and poor more poor... Ok we will scrap our car but u will give it to the person who will give us good price for scrap.... It is not mandotary and govt can't bind us to sale it to only authorised scrap who will buy our cars in 10 k Or 15 k
