20:39 This is why my brother, doesn't want to loan his 580 Super K. The investment is high enough, without rookies blowing hoses, busting parts. I was on a Ford backhoe, and I wasn't told that neither it, or the bulldozer, had any brakes. Apparently they like to steer with the brakes, instead of the torque converters. They were just too cheap to fix the Ford. I tried to lower the bucket quickly, but it was too late, for the bus. Being informed, having experience, and maintaining equipment, is a safety thing. The 580D, looks like a lot of work, and even more money. I'd pull the injectors ASAP, as well as blow each cylinder out. Hope nothing is bent or cracked. Wish him luck with it. The processing plant, had left the keys in the ignition on a semi tractor. I needed to pull a tanker, so I pulled out into the dark yard, they removed the lights already, the sanitation crew was wandering in, and Bill came running, jumped up on the tank, and screamed, "No brakes!", could've pulled the keys, or left a note, just saying.

You have neighbors similar to me, I've had to go rescue one multiple times from getting him just un stuck from the mud to getting him out of a ditch where he nearly turned the tractor over.
Gday Howee Great job Mate, Awesome of you to help your neighbor, I best you will be eating a lot of beautiful Thai food free for a while, knowing the generosity of most Thai people Great video
What a great neighbor 👍
At least there is no water in the carburetor. Thats the good news.
Anywhere else that is a scrap machine. In AK you give it hell before giving up. It's a simple machine so there is hope. Glad nobody was hurt or worse. Anything with a cabin going through the ice is less than ideal.
Drag it on shore?
Sadly, even with your patient explanations, it appeared and sounded like the backhoe owner did not understand what he was supposed to do. He might be able to handle one step at a time...certainly not the sequence of steps you explained.

I just said the same thing, LOL. Scary, you would say that if you knew me, "Scary, we think alike." LOL
Yeah sheared it right off. Kid.was trying to drag it out on the roof. Well we are about to find out how tough a case really is......
Reminds me of when my amish neighbors blind horse ran out into the swamp. I pulled it out with a long long tow strap. When it popped out of the muck it looked like a giraffe. It lived another few years and died of old age. It could pluck thistles six feet on the far side of the fence.
Good work
I think beer had something to do with how it got into the pond
Good thing electronics are pretty simple on a 580d. It can be saved but better work fast now that its out of the water.
Really nice job for your neighbor.
One step at a time. Not that hard to get one back running, but it takes a lot of time and materials to get there, a lot of time and materials .
They should have called it how to rig improperly and make things worse
Part 2 would be interesting
I get the feeling that dude is not gonna folloow all Howeex advice, more than likely, he'll try to start it soon. I hope he listens but when he sees the price of all the 5 gallon buckets of oil he's gonna need he may change his mind. I'm surprised he didn't pump it out sooner.
The bucket on your excavator needs to see a dentist get some implants🤣
I’d love to see it brought back, but I bet it’s done for.
That right there is a BIG project that will take some time and money to get it back to working order....all you said PLUS all the electical and any electronics it may have. But I would enjoy that project...if it was someone else's money...lol.
Speaking from experience a diesel engine will shoot water up for miles when cranked with the injectors pulled when water is in the cylinders lol.
I was going to say this guy is a brute with that excavator and then he tells the other guy he should do it as he has more time in the machine.... He might be great at digging but he's about as gentle as nuclear bomb when it comes to doing anything else with it.

I think Howie was in the machine for most of the extrication. They both are newbies and neither claim expertise. But that could have been extricated much, much, much more gently. I'm not clear if that roughness broke the bucket off or not? I think so, I may go back and read. Howie can help fix that however.

@@brentbarnhart5827 If Howie is as much an expert in repairs as he is an operator, that machine is toast. I was very surprised the boom wasn't snapped off. Be really surprised if it isn't bent.
could a been wore ..... could a been mine ...
Fuck yeah!!! Awesome work!!!
That backhoe arm is probably messed up a little bit 😮.
Hay, man, this guy should have a roll back take this to a mechanic. He will have a better machine if this is done right AND done NOW before rust sets in. Yeah it'll cost but the machine looks like it would be worth 'saving'. He should have already called to find a mechanic.
dang a case 580D is about $130,000 new...

Well i can tell you this at the beginning of video ... if any one can get it out it you your a verry smart man and good video
I had to laugh my ass off at this video. Most of the comments are just as funny. I'll just leave it at that. Carry on and have a great day.
When you were talking to that guy after you said that beer in the same you must have been talking to a cow that tractor will never run again as long as that guy is working on it
liveleak logo popped up 4.30 mark...nice
I bet Charlie is gonna Craigslist is as soon You´re gone. Or even get it going and then sell it. I don´t trust this at all.
I doubt that this guy's got the capability to do this kind of work. Seemed a little bit a space cadet about him trying to describe what he had to do.

My family is Asian (Japanese) and it is hard to say..... I am leaning on agreeing with you, he doesn't seem the mechanical type, but I might be wrong. I wouldn't say it is OVERLY difficult, but then again, I'm both an engineer, and mediocre machinist. (Actually I'm a machine designer and inventory.) And I HATE, to work on vehicles or motors or anything of the such...... but still, its just engineering.
I hope you can help him get it running

Not sure how it got on the ice, in December/January , when this happened, most ice around here would hold a d8 bulldozer, but I was not there to see it. I am very glad He got out OK.

That was a lucky escape if that thing went under water while they were in it.
And don't forget the fuel tank which probably has water in it. Purge it and the fuel lines. Same for the hydraulic oil tank. This machine will run again, no doubt.
Yeah that's trash, unless he's got big pockets
I hate it when this happens.
So you let that piece of equipment sit in the water for a year,,, doesn't look like a big deal to get that out
I bet if you make a video helping this guy out getting it run for free, you get several hundred thousand views on that.
Chain surprisenly strong
Poor case
Play over on all four wheels towards the land where the machine is the excavator
Just a Question? couldn't the pond be drained
@HOWEES
17 күн бұрын
Yes, but way more cost/work. It would have allowed a better look, but everything else would have been the same.
Once you get em out tell them to go home?
That's probably scrap, if he didn't get to it right then the engine is already rust welding together. Rings and valves , bearing surfaces, whooof! Complete teardown.
Algorithm booster
👍😎👍
I would consider that machine for scrap.
Alot of work in the future...
The pepole i work 4 logging have a excavator same as yours but it has a blade wich comes in great as a stabilizer and if u on steep ground you can hold yourself
Haha "carbon dating" 🍻👨🏻🏭🇨🇦
I don't think he should park it there. The EPA might complain.
He should do it for the guy and charge him
Judging by the condition of the back of that excavator the operator had 0 experience lol

Sometimes we don't fix all the problems with machines that get used only occasionally. The boom was broke in 2 when I purchased it.
Find someone who knows what the're doing he's half right half wrong.
What a mess.
pads to be used. i would put timber pads under the excavator when close to water like that. like they do on Let'sDig
That was painful to watch
Might as well scrap it
Hey can't park there

Tell to put some Red Bull in it and it will have wing's

go get a skycrane, that might get it out
