Recovering Two Bogged D11s (And Tractor)

We managed to get both D11s stuck at the same time. Soil looks and feels solid but underneath it’s a different story.

    That has to be some next level mud you're dealin' with down there and ya gotta dig the brute strength of the machines, but the outstanding hero of the day has to be those frickin' straps. They must be made outta the same material as Batman's suit! Outstanding performance!

    Enjoyed this, great video, and videography.... I love watching these machines working. Spent my whole career in the construction industry, mostly roads, but you don’t see these monsters being used so much these days, it used to be D9s, D10s and the occasional D11, Cat 637s or Terex TS24s and the like doing the earthworks haul, but nowadays it’s backacters and dump trucks.

    Although my livelihood is in a completely different field, I was always under the impression that D-11s were used mainly in mining operations because of their immense size and weight. The video shows what looks like lowlands with bogs throughout. As one viewer pointed out, wouldn't it have made more sense to use lighter, LGP tracked machines instead?

    That placement allows some steerage, the frame carries the load, not the drive train.

  • @fredygump5578

    @fredygump5578

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@topixfromthetropix1674 The truck articulates at a joint, I said linkages...whatever...same idea. That joint isn't designed for these loads. An example is John Deere articulating tractors set up for construction have a heavy cable that runs under the tractor from the front to the hitch. If you need to pull it, you connect to that cable, not the frame. When this cable is used, the stresses on the pivots are the same as during normal operation. But these guys didn't have a cable like that.
