    There's no right and wrong. You may find that you're happy with the results that you get when recording a performance with just one microphone, for example. Recording the vocal and direct signal from the electro-acoustic guitar separately like this, ultimately provides more flexibility in the mixing stage, giving you the option to process each recording separately.

  • @FocusriteHelp

    There are two ways to direct monitor, both through your interface and through your DAW. Direct monitoring through your interface will result in zero latency, but also zero effects or processing on your inputs. When direct monitoring through your DAW you will hear any FX applied to the track, but you may experience latency. It sounds like you may be directly monitoring through FLStudio which may be creating echo.

  • @FocusriteHelp

    Why are you hoping to do that? When selected as the audio device in your software, an audio interface will essentially replace the computer's internal soundcard. Generally speaking, it isn't possible for the operating system to access and use multiple soundcards and audio devices simultaneously. As all audio is passing through the audio interface, you will need to connect headphones or monitor speakers to the audio interface.

    Usually you want a dry recording so that you can change effects of your instruments later. For instance, if you record with reverb on channel 1 that reverb will be there forever, unless your record it again without reverb. Perhaps you are in the middle of mixing and then you realize that "wow, I do not want any reverb during this part of my song" - but then you can't change it. I didn't look through the whole video but I'm guessing that this is what you meant?

  • @antwannn111

    @antwannn111

    @@viksweden Nailed it ^. No regrets & endless creative posibilites if done this way. Also, if you are using direct monitoring and muting the recording mixer tracks then you cant hear the effects while recording so you definitely dont want to just gamble and record with effects on. Lastly, if you record with effects on the recording mixer track it will use much more comp resources which may lead to latency. The key is to download or save a template. Then you only have to do this all once! Most daws have this pretty much setup for new users but FL Studio is very proud of its extremely customizable interface so they want the user to setup the way they prefer.

  • @viksweden

    @viksweden

    @@RaghuRoxx Okay, if that's the case then my answer is you can apply the effects straight into 1 and 2. Though, if you want to go back and record something else with the same presets you would have to re-create the recording channels. Sometimes when I'm recording vocals I like to add just a little bit of EQ straight to the input since my recording booth has a bit too much low end - so I always try to separate them. Perhaps you have inserted a noise gate if your computer has fans that sound loud - then you would have to recreate that as well. Also if you have someone that want's a bit of feedback with reverb etc, you could link your input channel (1 for instance) to your mixing channel (3.. or whatever) and then the person get's a bit of reverb in their headphones without actually effecting the dry recording.

    Somebody please help me out with this.. I connected my cable in input1 to record an instrument but I'm getting a signal /a harm/disturbance without even connecting anything on the other end! Tried 4 different cables as well input2 , it's the same. I get the same harm even when I connect my instruments, initially i thought it was my instrument problem but then even after disconnecting Im getting a thin signal/disturbance and when I increase the gain, the harm increases... is this normal? M I supposed to get any signal at all without anything being connected?

    Hi there, when you connect an instrument cable with nothing attached to it, it's likely you'll get some electrical hum. This is normal. A hum when instruments are connected could be caused by a number of things - we're happy to help troubleshoot. Reach out at bit.ly/FocusriteSupport.

    Yes, if you want to import karaoke tracks, and input monitor your microphone to use FL Studios effects, this would work. Although there are dedicated Karaoke programs which may be easier for this purpose.

    If you are using the Direct Monitor feature, you will want to mute the audio track that you are recording to in software as that can cause the kind of delay that you're describing. Alternatively, you can disable Direct Monitor and monitor from your DAW.

    You can monitor what you're recording, in real-time, without any noticeable latency using the direct monitor feature or you can monitor from your DAW. If you need help, please give us a call or use LiveChat - bit.ly/CallFocusriteSupport

    Scarlett is plug-and-play on Mac, no driver is required. You just need to select your Scarlett as the audio device within FL Studio, as shown here - kzread.info/dash/bejne/hISVma-anK6ocsY.html

    Can i plug my headphones into my computer instead?

  • @FocusriteHelp

    @FocusriteHelp

    2 жыл бұрын

    That won't allow you to hear any sounds that are passing through Scarlett. When connected to your computer via USB and selected as the audio input and output device, all audio passes through Scarlett, essentially replacing your computer's built-in soundcard. You will need to connect monitor speakers/headphones to Scarlett in order to hear sound from your computer. Your computer operating system isn't able to access and use multiple soundcards/audio interfaces concurrently so you can't select Scarlett as the audio input and your computer's soundcard as the audio output.

    how to record VST with keyboard midi controller?

  • @FocusriteHelp

    @FocusriteHelp

    4 жыл бұрын

    Afraid we don't fully understand your question. Can you elaborate? If you're hoping to control and record a performance using a plug-in, you will need to open the plug-in in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) or Plug-In Host software. Our devices come bundled with a suite of software options that will allow you to do that. To access this software, you first need to register your Focusrite product on our website using your included 'Bundle Code'.

    @@FocusriteHelp I use FL studio as my DAW and keyboard korg kross 2 as my instrument. Now I want to record sound from VST plugin like The Grandeur (Native Instruments product). In other word, I am not record sound from korg kross 2. Before I bought my focusrite scarlet 2i2 3rd gen, I used midi to usb cable to make my keyboard become a midi controller. But I have no idea to do that whit focusrite soundcard. Sorry I am bad in english. Thak you in advance for your response.
