He said he doesn't like the rubber-toughened ca glue but that's what he's using. The black ca glue is rubber-toughened, it's the rubber particles that make it black. It's used on the spider landing because the rubber makes it more flexible and able to handle higher temperatures. It also makes it able to resist cracking from vibration and shock. Using too much accelerator is what makes it turn white and it also makes the bond weaker. This is closer to a drop-in than it is to recone.

He didn't actually say what product he was using because it was a proprietary mix especially made for their company.

@JasonWW2000 He said it was ca and was black. The rubber particles are what make it black. It's all the same. They just order it in big quantities and have their logo put on it so they can sell it for twice as much. They probably get it from the same build house in China that they get all their parts. My point was that guy doesn't even know what kind of glue he's using and if he did recones he would know. He probably doesn't have much more experience than the people he's teaching and that's why he's doing a drop in not a recone.

​@@rubenmejia942 No, you can let it cure at it's normal pace if you want. In fact, it would probably be stronger that way.

I recently did my Z18V3 Sundown. I got the CA from EM Audio. Used E6000 from the hardware store. My tinsel leads were not done. Tip-if your leads aren’t done, trim and solder them before gluing the cone in. It was so difficult to solder the terminals in the sub. I applied the CA and the E6000 before setting the cone in. Just my preference.

Something I have yet to try. If I ever get more expensive subs I'll have to give it a shot.

Just fyi Home Depot sells good clamps for 99 cents they have good hold pressure. Doing 6-8 on a recone would be sufficient instead of bunch of smaller clamps

I often wonder why they use glue rather than a solution that uses a screwed-down ring to hold the spider, and perhaps the surround, in place.

Right, and the cheap subwoofers are not worth reconning, even if you can get a recone kit for them.

almost seems like cheating. i built mine from scratch. my cone coil and spider was all separate pcs.

Yeah recone kits are literally just plug and play(glue and set)
