I guess I need to revisit Sparks. I tried getting into them a few years ago, but I just couldn't really gel with them. Because Hack suggests it, I will go back and give this album a fair shot.

Hey, Hack! I'll keep suggesting some fIREHOSE until you either do it, or tell me that you already know it, or that you just don't want to do it. Check out the first fIREHOSE album from 1986 called "Ragin' Full-On". After the tragic death of D. Boon, the lead singer/guitarist of The Minutemen, the two remaining members (bassist Mike Watt and drummer George Hurley) recruited guitarist/singer Ed Crawford to join them to reform under the name fIREHOSE. Although their new sound was very different from The Minutemen, it still had the punk balls, but they became more adventurous, adding more funk and "pre-grunge"/"post-new wave" elements to their sound. fIREHOSE was one of my favorite jams throughout my middle school years (1986-1989) and high school years (1989-1993), and I still listen to them today. Fun side note: The Red Hot Chili Peppers gave fIREHOSE a shout out (along with shouting out Fishbone) in their song "Good Time Boys" on the Mother's Milk album (their first album with Chad Smith on drums).
