I don’t they quit, I think they were exhausted & lost to a better team; it happens. I’ve been on teams (non-pro) that we gave everything we had the game before & we knew if we didn’t score the first goal? We didn’t have the energy to chase the game all night. Just my humble opinion.

It’s almost like Vegas was just waiting for Benn to come back so they could embarrass him and rub his nose in it. Looking ahead to the final, I’m concerned Florida has had too much time off and will be rusty for the first two games.

I’m a Blues fan so I remember this very well. If you remember in 2019 Boston swept Carolina in the Conference Finals, while the Blues beat the Sharks handily in Game 6 of the conference finals. Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Blues went up with a 2-0 lead off of mistakes from Boston…and then Boston took game 1 4-2. Different teams of course, but I think that rust gets shaken off by the mid way point of game 1 for most teams.

Literally as soon as Carrier scored I thought of how u said “he was due for a big goal” in your preview earlier. I was like well, Shannon called it.

@@rickgrimes. Benn use to be considered clutch. He was way back off Crosby and Tavares and somehow won the Ross in the last 10 secons of the season.

All year long I have credited Coach Cassidy. He didn't win every game but he got the team to learn from mistakes. He took risks and controversial moves with players. He figured out ways to win. So he and the Vegas road record has been remarkable.

Very considerate of the rest of the stars team to make sure Benn had to shake Stone’s hand today instead of sit in the press box

Did Dallas know there was a game tonight? I feel bad for fans who paid good money to see whatever that was.

I was at game 5 in Vegas and after the game Dallas fans were understandably happy. I heard one saying to another, "and now we get Benn back for the next game", like that was a good thing. I said to him, "why do you want him back, your team hasn't won a game against Vegas with him playing, be careful for what you think is a good thing". I rest my case.

But if Deboer sat him and they lost a close one, he would've taken a lot of backlash for sitting a guy who was your 2nd leading scorer with 75 points during the season. He's had a lot more good games this year than bad so I definitely would take my chances with him in the lineup

As a Dallas fan, Tough loss to take. Congrats to Bruce Cassidy and the Knights! Their forecheck was insane, and I look forward to seeing who wins the Cup. Proud of our season and players, because they really pushed it far. Glad it was 6. I look forward to seeing what Nill cooks up, especially in the defense, because it was bad a whole lot of the time. Proud of the run.

I’m glad we’re going to see a first time cup winner and a very interesting matchup on the ice. Funny how Vegas feels like the underdog despite facing the 8th seed as the 1 seed. I personally think it’s a great thing

Vegas came to play and put a butt whooping on Dallas. Vegas knew they had to win tonight and played like it. Dallas, I think they have to move on from Benn. They need a new captain. Congratulations to Vegas. Looking forward to Shannon's Stanley Cup Finals preview when it gets posted.

Called it. I didn't think we were gonna see a reverse sweep, not to discredit Dallas and what they've done, they certainly had a great season, but I knew Vegas was going to be desperate for a win tonight and come out strong. And that they most certainly did. Honestly, I think this is Vegas's year.

In VGK's first Western Conference win in 2018, they touched the Campbell Bowl. The guys that are still there from that team know better.

Stars were seeing such as they just looked mesmerized by the onslaught that fell upon them. Vegas has another level and this might be up there with last years Finals.

Flawless victory by the Vegas Golden Knights, who will appear in the Cup Final for a 2nd time in 6 years. What a story. And many would say that this team is much better than the 2018 one.

You should do a video of teams that won their conference final fast vs. teams that grinded out to win their conference. If you can. It might be very interesting.

Defense was optional for the Stars tonight

Great recap, Hockey Guy! As a new Kraken fan, I realized that “winning” is all a matter of expectations and perspective. They were the third worst team in the NHL first season. Now they are the third best in the Western Conference! That’s quite an improvement and lots of winning! We beat the best team from last year. That’s quite a confidence boost for this new team. Dallas Stars is the third best team in the NHL right now. That’s pretty great! At the same time, I do understand the “that’s not how this works” vibe when there’s only one Stanley Cup winner per season. For me, this is how I enjoy being a fan and minimize disappointment.

That is the healthiest mindset to have. Whatever team you are rooting for will probably not win the championship as winning a championship is hard, so if you only consider this metric in your consensus, you will probably end up perpetually disappointed.

Maybe just saying this out of hindsight, but after that first goal I was thinking, "DeBoer should call a TO here, they're getting smoked." I'm not sure it would've mattered, but Vegas was just all over them right off the bat, and the team could tell, the building could tell - as soon as that first goal went it, the game was over.

I think we can all agree that Bruce Cassidy is a Stanley cup-winning coach waiting to happen the guy has really done a great job with all the teams that he's coached he came extremely close and helping Boston win the cup in 2019 but the blues were slightly better in that game 7 Bruce Cassidy finally gets his name on Lord Stanley's mug as while Paul Maurice is a decent coach Bruce Cassidy style is more similar to a Joel Quenneville or a Mike Babcock strong puck-possession hockey team that's responsible defensively and offensively and has good goaltending

Don't think any team could beat Binnington the way he played game 7. Don Cherry always said a hot goalie can change everything.

In typical Peter DeBoer fashion he takes the team on a deep run in his first year and subsequently everything falls apart after that so let’s see what the Stars make of this

I'm really sorry that you most likely didn't have a good day and hope one of your teams ends up winning the cup soon. With that said I'm so happy to be the SCF again. The first SCF I wasn't really a huge fan so I didn't get to enjoy it, let's hope I get good memories from this one.

Not a vegas fan but William Karlsson doesn’t get talked about enough. So smart, so underrated. Favourite player on the knights.

Last time was all the way back in 2018.

Vegas executed its game plan to a dominating victory. I lost respect for Jamie Benn after I heard his pathetic excuse for cross checking Mark Stone. I was happy Benn returned to the lineup because his presence inspired the VGK.

That was a perfect game from Vegas… LFG Stanley Cup!!

So sorry for the loss Shannon. Stars would have been better off sitting Benn and playing with an empty net and an extra attacker. You have shown us the love, though, for all the other teams and the game itself. As Chicago fan, we have been rooting for Florida and have the RAT altar to prove it! Thank you so much for what you do rain or shine.

WHAT A SLAUGHTER. Vegas was the better team, kudos to them they owed us one since 2020. Stars need some tough defense men and a bit more line depth.

I don’t really watch any other sports besides hockey. Even in the NFL or MLB playoffs, I will watch regular season NHL games 10 times out of 10 instead. Yet somehow Dallas had such an embarrassing performance that they made me watch Basketball instead… BASKETBALL!!!

I mean Pere Deboer has a habit of getting teams in deep runs then choking it away

As a Knights fan, the way PDB set the line up today was what drove Vegas fans nuts. When his mind is made up on a line up, he will never change it. He is not flexible, and cant adjust. He can lose 10 games in a row, but will not change a thing.

I think some blame goes on DeBoer, but there might've been little the Stars could've done to overcome such a hurdle. He gets too stubborn with his tactics as a coach and seldom learns from them.

DeBoer drove fans away from Vegas. Even when he wins, it's BORING. You think it's bad now, wait 'til next year. Dallas will be lucky to outhit a half dozen teams all year; they'll lose and nobody on the team will care.

As a Sabres fan, I’m excited to see Eichel and Reinhart facing off against each other in the final. Who would have thought when they were traded 2 years ago that they would be making it to the finals so quickly. Happy for them that they can finally showcase how good they both are.

I don’t get the eichel love and mcdavid hate. Connor isn’t vocal and leads by example and eichel’s sabres days were well documented as toxic

I think with Dallas that seguin and Benn are part of the old core. I could see those 2 getting shopped around.
