Someone once described Woody’s soloing as painting himself into a seemingly unrecoverable corner, and then extricating himself with equal brilliance. I always loved that description of Woody, one of my favorite soloists ever!

Great work. Been a Woody fan since, well a long time ago. It's a shame many of his recordings were poorly done with a couple of exceptions. A true genius who has certainly inspired my playing.

This is great Richie. Very insightful to know and understand the thinking behind this and the importance of incorporating such lines into one's own playing. Now, if I can only learn to do that.

Calling this complex is an understatement, but how do you explain these kinds of substitutions? At one point it looked like he subbed E flat minor 9 over the A minor 7.But the other ones...whew!!(wtf?) Thanks so much for sharing my friend, hope you are well God loves you deeply Shalom 🎸 🔊🏞️🏔️⛰️🎊🎇🎉🎆✨🐕🎈📯
