Stoked for this. Also, just replacing the headlight housings would do this thing such a favor.

I'd want this setup with the current look, it looks sleeper af which is perfect imo
I can't wait to see the passes this combo does. Ever since hearing about sloppy mechanics, I've always wanted to see a full build series on it and see what it can do in street form.

Same, I just started doing a sloppy style build on a datsun over on my channel. dying to hear that first startup sound!
You could cut the end of the exhaust back a little bit and give it a slight angle cut so that it looks like the factory exhaust for more of a sleeper look
@audiarayz

For a single exit I agree that would be most ideal, imo

Also I'd try tucking it closer to the frame after the axle
Straight 90 out the side looks best in my opinion just clean doesn’t matter what size pipe you got! Good work man!

I would have liked to have seen him keep it tucked up higher with a turndown just before the bumper. Mostly hidden. But yeah, that will work too
@supersport1986

@@danielgarrett1155I like what he did bringing it out over the axel and out to the back. Personally I would have had it tucked it up as high as possible then drop it down right at the end with like a 30*-45* turn down with the end trimmed to match the bed side angle but let it hang below the side about an inch or so just to keep that sleek look. I am so jealous of the sleeper build I love this truck! I have an 05 2500hd 2wd crew short bed with the 6.0l which I should build like this!!
I think you need to make a garage door section to install in the bottom with some cutouts/tubing for exhaust extraction!
Never seen someone so excited to create their own automotive space and truly live in it the way Taylor does. Top tier content.

I enjoy the videos of you enjoying/racing your projects... but I LOVE the videos of the builds!!!!!!!! This is the stuff.
I discovered you (my favorite KZreadr) by watching the build series building this truck! Glad it’s finally back in the shop!!
Thanks for going quiet with this one. An extra couple HP isn’t always worth the noise.

I think the new setup allows for much better flow and this better horsepower. Because the old setup went down in diameter before it split to two pipes.
So glad it has a tailpipe now , it always makes all the difference
Welding Engineering student here: The reason tacks will take the v-band off is because EVERY weld will shrink about 10% at the weld, with the metal cooling. Clamping can help but especially with stainless, it has such a low heat dissipation rate and high distortion rate that this effect is very much amplified. If you ever are doing a T joint at 90 degrees, try to either tack the opposing side first or simply make it roughly 8 degrees off (10% of 90). Another thing about stainless specifically is that REALLY quick high amperage is the way to go, high travel speed and high amperage will mean that the overall heat input is lower than a lower amperage and much lower travel speed. Once the puddle is formed, really just gotta start bookin' it.
The new exhaust is so much better! I love street style pickups, so I am very excited for this build! Taylor, get some stainless rod and bend your own hangers. Instead of the bumps on the end like a factory hanger, drill a hole through the rod and secure it to the hanger with a push clip, like a hood pin.
Sounds sweet, I have similar set up on a 01 sierra. I used 3.5” from turbo into 4” cutout and a pypes 4” muffler from a 2017 f150 3.5l ecoboost after cutout. Nice and quiet when closed but can get rowdy with a flip of a switch. Love it
Taylor, The LS Truck is sounding nice and mellow. While I didn't fabricate it, I did install a 4 inch MBRP Turbo back exhaust on my Gen 3 Cummins 3500 two weeks ago. Really love the tone it has with the open diesel muffler and the Turbo noticeably spools up faster now.
Yay!!! Been waiting for this since the 4>3
This is probably my favorite build on the channel due to anyone can do this build in there driveway. I did a flowmaster 50 on my Silverado and the sound level was perfect
That thing deserves some attention, bed liner and a hood refresh. Maybe even some dent removed would make this truck minty fresh 👌🏼
If you dont want to kill your $120 saw blades on stainless, would it be worth using an abrasive cutting disk for the chop saw instead, works pretty well and much much cheaper. (Though a bit slower and creates some dust) Also, idea for garage upgrade. Mount a fan in the wall between the garage doors and use flexible, heat resistance tube (like a dryer duct or something) to vent exhaust when you need to run something for a little bit and not open the doors. Bonus if the duct collapses/extends easily for neat storage + use. Would have loved to have seen you at lz fest. Saturday's comp was ridiculous, the story of Grant in a stock 350z, 15 yr old in a 700bhp s15 and a 17 yr old in an old Datsun (300 bhp sr20 drive train) show/demo car all making it to the final 4(of that days comp, top 3 advance to overall top 16).. It was ridiculous and awesome.
Always been keen to see what you do with this truck! I did like the rowdiness of the last exhaust but it definitely wasn't suited to the build you are going for. Sounds incredible with the new exhaust setup!
Hey Taylor, just a suggestion. Install a dryer exhaust vent on the side of the building and put an exhaust fan there, too, with a shrout to put in the back of the truck when testing to avoid opening the gate and losing the cold air from the AC.
Sounds so much better, one last thing I'd do is recirculate the wastegate
@NovemberFoxtrotRC

I also think a more aggressive cam will make the loudness much more bearable. The truck motor sound is still very much there and makes the loud sound bad. A bit more aggressive cam at idle especially would make this thing sound so much better.
@hechmech6289

It's recirculated to atmosphere, as it should be 😅😂
Exhaust hanger, clamp tools are awesome and a tip is always spray a little lube on the hanger first they slide right off n on
I have a turbo ls for the last year myself . Cracks me up how relateable this has been to my real life . I spent the last week redoing the down pipe and doing dual mufflers exhaust so I can actually enjoy this thing .. ironically was probably the exact same time you were doing the same
Hey Taylor... you should buy and build another Porsche 944. You've grown so much as a builder since then, think what you could do with one now? I'd like to see it.
I honestly love the sleeper look, I wouldn't touch it. Its not so rough that it's trashy, but just enough to be unassuming and humble. Stock wheels really sell it
That thing sounds like my old Ram. When my son would come to pick me up from the bar, you could hear him make the turn 3/4 of a mile away. (Hey, don't judge me!) Just enough time to pay my tab and head for the door. It was so loud inside the cab, we couldn't even talk to each other. Neither of us minded. He didn't care what I had to say and I didn't have anything important to say, either. Wins all around!
By far my favorite series, keep up the great work. Been building my turbo 2000 silverado and this series has helped me soooooo much.
I had reg cab long bed 2500 just like this. Same color and it is absolutely my favorite truck I ever owned. Love seeing this build.
So excited to get the truck looking good , it's perfect mechanically, just needs the looks now, 3/5 or 4/6 drop on wheels with new headlights/taillights etc and the paint n body looking fresh it'll be a killer street truck.
Besides the vette this is my favorite vehicle on the channel. I bought an 03 Silverado as my first new vehicle and I miss it. I need to build one but it's hard to find a clean 2wd single cab here.
Hanger pliers are a game changer. Worth every penny.
So glad the last video wasnt just a teaser. This truck should go drag and drive
So after ive replaced about 6 blades I learned that you can get the sharpened. I dont know if i was taking it easy on the regrinds but they lasted way longer.

Second this. They'll end out being so much more economical
I'm so stoked to see this thing being worked on again and getting closer to making some hits! I can't wait to see it lowered with some sporty wheels and tires!
the sleeper style is part of what makes this truck so badass...
Man I need more turbo ls truck. Need wot rips, clips, tire melting mayhem. Update the intake! Weight reduction. Brakes, and maybe a cage! Give us more hahaha
I remember the first time I used those pliers, and it was like a moment of clarity, like where have they been my whole life. A little penetrating oil makes it even better!
Taylor, have you ever thought of fume extraction with an exhaust/tractor like flap to the outside? Could be very handy for welding fumes, exhaust gasses and general dusty work. Dude use Steel-it spray paint on your hangers, you can weld over it and retouch it over and over again without any hard lines or blend marks. Honestly this shit is just gold in a can!!
Got a 95 4x4 ram that I want to pro charge eventually and this build has inspired me to get my truck. Want to replace the solid axle with a Chevy independent one and get the truck a little lower. Always appreciate Taylor’s inspiration!
Your next project should be openers for those doors!!
Maybe in person its different but it sounds very similar in the video. I'd imagine it sound a ton better in the cab since you moved the noise to back. Very well crafted and honestly looks way better than the side exit. Looking forward to see where this truck goes project wise.
Taylor rocking some Rhymesayers in the background always makes my day!
I am glad you're finally catching up with and finishing off all your project all your vehicles making everything 100%
I’m super excited for this build. Can’t wait to see it looking good on the outside.
Nice to see this truck taking the stage again! This things a beast!
love the look of these trucks. especially in that classic green, such a nice color
FINALLY! Been reading so long for this content! Awesome work!
You should look into adding exhaust hose vents. A lot of shops up north have them. It's essentialy a dryer hose vent that you clamp to the exhaust, and it goes to an outlet on the door. That way, you don't have to lose any valuable AC in that florida heat.
So satisfying to see a muffler on a high horsepower application! Came out amazingly well. High stall TC's can be a pain on the street, but this mitigates it a lot!
When they lower the trucks usually that bed crossbeam/support get cut and shield gets removed and it allows more clearance.
Try some no-hub plumbing bands without the rubber for mockup. Modify them by removing a few areas where the seam meets and you can tack after mock-up and just undue the clamps.
Nice work man. Love to see the good craftsmanship.
might be a nice idea to recirculate that wastegate, should give you some leeway when go full throttle before it gets too rowdy
Looking forward to see the trucks finished look and performance.
I remember when the plans for this were "drag and drive" sure wish youd get into those, the content is great.
I’m pumped that it sounds good. I literally have that same setup I’m putting together for my 18 rcsb
Yep Stainless exhaust looks awesome and sound awesome too. Nice job
Have you considered an exhaust pass-through in the wall between the roll-up doors? Flex hoses and boots are available that attach to the tailpipe. You could possibly use an aluminum 6" dust collection system blast gate for the wall penetration. It's all available on the jungle site.
I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab, lowered 4/6, and my stock 2.75" exhaust interfered with the axle, so I'm gonna assume you'll have to get creative with that big ole 4". I ended cutting the giant stock muffler off and putting a Total Flow 2.75" straight through muffler with a turn down pointing at the ground. Sounds good and it is completely out of the way of everything.
You gotta step up the hat game, homie. I'd rock a GBCO hat any day, but I'm a Flexfit snob.
I'm am stoked to see you working on this!.. I do wish the screamer pipe was routed back into the exhaust though!
Most large diesel mufflers have no baffling and are straight pass through so even though they seem bigger prob not as muffling as a gasser muffler.
i love truck builds. also was super into trevors diesel stuff. keep fixing this up!!!
I built almost identical exhaust for my sons truck. I went 3.5" off the turbo down to the cross member area. 4" after the cross member to a straight thru diesel muffler. Up and over the axle with a stock 4" duramax after muffler tail pipe. Its nice and throaty, but not loud at all.
Little tip for smaller zip ties, sqeeze the latch with needle nose pliers, releases it the same as a pick would on the bigger ones
Watching you work got me totally exhausted! I guess getting that quieter was a pipe dream. Dream realized, check!
@Taylordrifts was about to leave a comment asking how the trans cooler was working for you and you answered my question at the 11 min mark lol. I’m running the same one. Trans won’t stay cool. About to switch back to the trucool up front. Friend of mine switched back to the trucool for the same reason on his 1500 hp Silverado and and it’s working great now. I believe I’ve seen a couple people running them remotely as well with small 6 inch fans under the cab and they work great.
Living in the north east those exhaust hanger pliers are an absolute life saver. I’ve used them for like 10 years and never leave home without them lol. Also you should wrap the truck to match the vette for a garage built co shop truck. Love it as always man 🤘🏻
I'm soooo pumped for the monte bro! Bucket list car for me and my man Taylor never disappoints!
Sounds good, Great job on the setup.
Man if he gives this away like he said, the winner is a lucky man
those rubber isolator plier things are a game changer. I spray silicone on the tip to make getting it back out easy
you need to put a old school tractor tip with the flapper through the tin sheeting between the roller doors to a piece of convoluted hose from exhaust pipe, this way you won't need to open the roller doors .
Love the better tone and sound. My only complaint is the slight upsweep of the tailpipe, and no turn down before the bumper to keep it all somewhat hidden. Over all, top job. 👍
I've been looking forward to seeing this truck get to the final stages and I can't wait to see what's coming for the Monte Carlo!
I went the other extreme when I built the exhaust system for my truck - 3 mufflers. Two Dynomax bullets, then a 2 in/1out big case Magnaflow. I have a 3.5" tail pipe, and it's a bit tight on a lowered truck. I'm at a bit of a crossroad currently, I almost feel like the truck isn't loud enough somedays, then others I think it's perfect. Maybe I just need two electric cut outs between the bullets and the Magnaflow...
Have you ever looked into having those chop saw blades sharpened it is usually inexpensive and then you can get more uses before throwing the blades out
@russellkeller5791
11 ай бұрын
We get wood saw blades sharpened all the time and I have had a couple of blades for a saw like that sharpened too
Nice work Taylor!
Taylor if you put a 4” dryer vent through the wall and use the flexible aluminum tube you can just slide the flex pipe over your exhaust boom no more opening door to start a vehicle
those band clamps on the muffler are designed to be impacted down so they form fit the pipe they should seat down is the saddles on both sides it makes it leak free and alot stronger but sounds good
This is the exact exhaust I wanted you to build when you initially built the truck. Lol!! My LS swapped OBS 1500 has a similar single 4 inch too.
I love that you want it to sound awesome. In order to get the best sound you'll have to sacrifice a little flow. Forget the H pipe and go true duals. Dual 3" would probably serve your turbo setup better, but on a stock 6.0, dual 2 1/2" has the sound with a couple cherry bombs. Just passing it forward. Thanks for the content!
I like the way you worded that it’s loud but not the good kinda loud. I like them to make noise but it needs to sound good. Also I would like to hear myself think while I drive.
When you’re ready to upgrade that transmission cooler, I make kits to put a shroud and dual 6” or 8” fans on a trucool 40k. They work awesome in remote mounted situations like this
I cannot wait for the glow up of thos truck .Been my most anticipated thing waiting on the background to watch
Ngl the angled single exit makes my inner jdm boy happy, from one taylor to another great job sounds awesome 👏
The idle sounds just like my work truck. Stock headers to 3 inch straight pipe, then a short 8in single baffle (sadly 2.5 inch) that the PO installed. It sounds great though even crakles in tow/haul.
I remember saying you were gonna have to put full exhaust on it to enjoy it. But hey I’m an old guy now so just like a quiet turbo LS street car that buggies!
Buy a horizontal bandsaw, straight cuts and blades last. They are so versatile.
Been waiting for this one for so long! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hangar pliers are one of my favorite tools I own. They’re kickass
Man I’ve been missing the fab projects it’s good to see it!
Need an exhaust port for the door then you can keep it closed and exhaust will go out side 😊
@Lloyd973

Was thinking the same thing.
That's awsome brother. I love the 4 inch muffler. Next time try splitting it to duel 3" and run 2 mufflers so it doesn't restrict the exhaust. Similar the way the Gen 3 camaros and such.
Sounds wayyyy better. It went from demolition derby truck to turbo street truck. Can't wait to see the rest of the build.
Just a tip use dryer flex tubing to mock up exhaust routing cheap and efficient
