You can do timing curves in your launch control. Like, just an example, the button pulls 3 degrees of timing out, release the button and it puts 1 degree back in a half second, another degree after a full second and another in 2 seconds. This will help manage horsepower with your limited control of boost. Just spit balling. You can even do this on the throttle position sensor. I know you like tinkering in the software. Just maybe giving ideas to think about.

Instead Wrap your exhaust with aluminum backed hvac tape . 7 layers is a fantastic thermal insulation that works off radiated heat reflection . The glue carbonizes and you have black -shint -black -shiney -etc . Hot gases flow far better and it dampens tone . I love this stuff !!!

@@Taylordrifts yeah, the cateye front clips have more room between the grill and the radiator than these 99-02 fronts. Everyone is saying to get a 40k, but I think the tru-cool 30k would fit better where you have it underneath the front. It's still the superior plate\fin type and has side fittings rather than at the bottom\top as it's 6"x 23"x .75". With the 30k you could probably get rid of the one near the exhaust in the back and maybe see if they make some fans for it, or if you have at least 1" between your intercooler and radiator it could slip in between so hot air isn't being pulled through the intercooler.

I am loving this truck! A common mistake that I have also done (smoked the trans) is to zip-tie the cooler lines together for nice tight clearances. This effectively negates the trans cooler because the hot fluid in one line heats up the cooled fluid in the other line by the time it gets back to the transmission. The simple zip-tie wire spacer trick works perfect to keep the lines far enough apart so the cooler actually works as it should. Also check out Cal-Tracs or Slide-a-links to help traction and eliminate wheel hop, a must have for leaf sprung drag vehicles. Looking forward to seeing this thing progress!

I've got a setup in my crawler like you ran with a cooler in the back as space is tight up front but I used a 25 pass Derale unit and it still doesn't keep my C4 cool after extended beatdowns. True Kool 40k up front in good airflow and you'll never have cooling issues. The 3rd gear "spool mod" from experience puts soo much heat in the trans and fast. And if I'm not mistaken is a fast way to burn up some clutches. Maybe something to look into more. Also it doesn't sound like the transmission shifts are very noticable at all when making a pass.

05:36 Could have had the pieces against the side of the table to stop them from spinning or clamp a piece of angle iron on there to rest the pieces against that

Would love to see some interior work on this unit. Custom black headliner, maybe paint the rest of the trim black aswell. Did it on a few of my cars and loved it. Needs some tint too

A heat shield around the trans where the exhaust heat radiates might drop your Temps. Also an easy lit fab project. 👌

I would recommend a advance table to pull timing on release of the 2 step to help fight the traction issues over a length of time. But definitely look like your heading in the right direction for practice on the new build.

I have a 4l80e in my 03 Chevy with the same cooler mounted in the front of the ac condenser and it stays cool as can be unless your absolutely beating on it but even then I’ve still never seen it over 210

For boost control I went with a Motion RW dual MAC valve setup and a 1gal Viair setup instead of having to fill CO2.

trucool 40k trans cooler is pretty good mounts right infront of the radiator so it gets some good airflow

Also might be kind of cool to get like a Denali style steering wheel to use that for your 2 step/trans brake/launch control etc buttons.

You should get some cal tracks for the rear endand then talk to s. R. C on what to do with the settings and everything. Since you just did a deal with them , they could help you out on getting the Cal tracks and everything else for the rear end of that chevy

From experience i can say if you get rid of the cooler above the exhaust and just run the one up front with fans it would definitely stay cool enough. Hi comp 6.0 Nitrous Chevy 2500, 4l80e, triple disk hughes converter and a 40k trucool cooler never gave me any overheating issues even for daily driver.
