Rebuilding The Rear Brakes on the Suzuki Bandit 1200! How-To EP4

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The rear brakes on the Bandit 1200 absolutely did not work when I got the bike so it is time to dig in a fix them! Without spending any money on new parts I was able to simply disassemble the entire system, clean thoroughly, and reassemble back to working order. The dust seals were blowing out causing the pistons to stick. The Bandit takes one step closer to being the ultimate asphalt assault vehicle!
Tools/Materials used:
- Ultrasonic cleaner (30L) with some Mean Green and water mix
- Clear hoses for bleeding the system
- Dot 4 brake fluid
- Gunk Foam cleaner (the foam is what you want!)

I like that you mention JIS often. Phillips drivers are a great way to mangle JIS screws. ESPECIALLY master cylinder reservoir cover screws. Like the one for your clutch. Adding the disclaimer about the rear caliper dust seals was a good idea. It should slow the flood of abuse.

Dot 4 is water soluble. If you drop some on paint or tires, just wash immediately with plenty of water....but it's best to protect surroundings carefully before you start

Yea man the last you mentioned the engine was locked up. That's crazy to hear and really unfortunate. I'm guessing your Bandit is a different story?

Hi, just ran across your channel, and since I’m considering purchasing a lo mileage 2016 Bandit 1250, I’m interested in what your doing on your lo buck Bandit. Not familiar with the Japanese screwdrivers you’ve mentioned in the 1st Lo buck Bandit. Cool, you still can teach this old dog a thing or two. Thanks for the great videos 🤗👍😎.

Hey you will have fun for sure! The screwdrivers are JIS(Japanese industry standard) and you must buy a set if you have a Japanese bike to make your life easier.

@@BrickHouseBuilds Got the order in for the set, with a couple others that were linked and a stubby. (stubbys can reall come in handy in my experience.. :-) ) Sorry your Bandit project fell apart. That sucks, but, ya never know, another one might appear. God is good :-). The one I wanted, which was low miles, like almost brand new, and within a 100 miles away, I just couldn't afford it. I'm old, and my 401k had been raided enough this year for a new roof for my home... . Oh well, life will goes on, and another MC might come around the bend... . :-) I'll check out some of your other projects. Stay strong. (2002 Kawasaki Concours ~ 21.6k on the odometer)

I've seen lots of ppl complaining about the design of the calipers. The fact that it's attached to the bottom... I'm curious do u think it can inverted so it faces down or sideways like the front brake? Couldn't u jus adjust the caliper bracket to make it work?
