Rebounding without a Trampoline

In this video, Tim talks about the benefits of rebounding and how you can do it without a trampoline.
It's silly. BUT it could be worth exploring. Just a little bit each day can go a long, long way.

Don't recall ever having a doctor mention the lymphatic system to me -- but the more I read about it, the more it seems to be "key" to many areas of health. The up-and-down affect of bouncing (or rebounding) is another way of making gravity an ally. Great addition, Tim!

I used to do this instinctively as a kid, especially when I was in front of the TV. My mom thought there was a psychological reason, that I was autistic or anxious, but It simply felt good. I'm doing it now, feels even better when you're older.

I used to jump up and down a lot when I was a kid, too. I’m glad to know that I wasn’t the only one. It used to help keep me slim. Since I’ve gotten older and became I mom, I don’t do it anymore. I’ve been thinking that if I go back to it, I’ll finally lose these stubborn pounds. This is my confirmation!

I jump on my rebounder every morning without fail. It's the perfect way to start my morning workout. I work with the geriatric population doing physical therapy and 99.9% of them are not rebounder material. I incorporate a lot with Qi Gong moves such as shaking of the LEs and UEs to help remove toxins and increase mobility. I will add this gentle non-rebounder rebounding to the mix. Thanks, Tim!

I feel refreshed, get some energy out of it, and once i had a bit of bloating and i did it for 3 min straight and i got so relieved. In the long term this may be very good for health. I will be consistent with this because it seams pretty healthy. And the fact that is a thing that we do trought the day, and not 1h thing and we stop. And the more i do it, as i need to be there with my self, i work on relaxing what is tense. I work on staying in good posture while doing it.Because i tend to drop my neck to much, or relax the pelvis too much and round the back...And forcing those parts to go into place is a good reminder for the body to stay in a good posture. And i saw too that this is great for bone desity, lymph drainage, blood flow, and many other things... Sorry for the long reply but i think is a good thing to do @@OriginalStrengthSystem

This is excellent!! I just tried it and it feels very good; and it's not hard on the joints. I think it may be a good addition to my warm-up before exercising. I read somewhere that plyometric movements, such as jumping, before a workout help fire-up the nervous system. I found that to be very useful for strength training and noticed that it "wakes up" the body, especially on days when one feels not sufficiently switched-on. However, jumping is harder on the joints, so, your method may be a great alternative. Thank you, Tim.

Yes even though I have weak ankles this sounds much better than jumping in place or jump roping and much cheaper than buying a heavy-duty rebounder that will last for a plus size body on a limited income. Thanks @Original Strength this is what I been needing for a few yrs now and didn't think to look up substitute exercises for rebounding. Of course I sorta had an idea that you could just do something like this instead! Now what suggestions do you have for unaligned spine and hips besides a chiropractor what do you think about Essentrics exercises or do you have something better for alignment, strength and stability and also for weak ankles? I guess it all comes with the unaligned spine and hips but I had weak ankles I knew about the unalignment probably from my childhood feet not being properly pronated can't remember proper name I was told about my feet always had feet that went inwards not till I was about a teenager when my step dad told me to try to remember to walk with my feet out as much as I could remember to do and with high arches of course if I didn't have good shoes my feet always roll inwards but keeping them straight now I know why I tripped in gym so much as a child. My mom did have a chance to get me braces to correct it but she couldn't afford it so I went without that help. Just like I went without braces for my teeth as a child, etc.

I learned that I can rebound using the force of my body slightly bending my knees back and forth saving my calf muscles. It's as if my feet on my toes has become a makeshift trampoline. Kind of like when I was a kid not using my legs to swing but body if this makes sense. When doing this I must grab onto a fixed object however to keep my balance.

No real prescription. The best thing would be to do it often, every day, throughout the day if possible. 30 seconds to a few minutes - whatever fits your mood and situation. I like to do it for about a minute if I need to wake up, loosen up, or want to get some energy flowing.

  • @OriginalStrengthSystem

    @OriginalStrengthSystem

    Жыл бұрын

Yes, there are differences, though I wouldn’t know how to quantify them. For example, the springs of the trampoline could allow a person to rebound longer or jump higher with more force and less consequence. But if I’m just trying to flush out lymph nodes and activate the vestibular system, the floor is pretty accessible!

Perhaps the difference will be found in the intent in which they are approached? Jump roping tends to be for specific time and duration and purpose, like exercise. Rebounding tends to be aimed more towards restoration and relaxation and health. Both are good, but typically their aim is different.

It seems like it would, but probably not as “good” as rebounding in that the bounce and recoil is quite different

What about bad knees? I walk every day and would like to bounce too. Not on trampoline but like you are doing. 75 year old knees don't like it. :😢😢

Can you bounce without letting your heels come up and down? Using your hips, ankles and knees as cushions?

That’s a worthy experiment! Maybe 2-3 minutes or One minute several times a day. I like spreading it around

If walking is ok, this should be. Just remember, don’t move into pain. If it hurts, don’t do it. Also, feel free to check with your trusted medical professional about anything you’re unsure about.

Are you saying I can save $700 on a rebounder and still get the same basic benefits for free? Works for me!😆

yeah me too and space. My house is small and a rebounder would take up precious space. Thanks Tim.!
