    Just throwing in a thank you as I just put rox 3's on tonight and this was super helpful. I ended up having to take the headlight out and re-route the brake lever/master cylinder and parking brake (totally not enough length on mine to keep the p-brake routed how it was, same for front brake lever).

    Thanks for the video! I ordered a rebel 1100 but having second thoughts now as I have lower back issues and I’m concerned about the riding position. I’m considering getting a new nc750x instead but I’m sure it won’t be as much fun as the rebel. How do you find the comfort with the risers? And please can you share any thoughts on the comfort of the suspension, in particular the rear shocks and how it handles potholes? Many thanks and safe riding!

  • @ontherebel11

    @ontherebel11

    3 жыл бұрын

    This topic is near and dear to me, thank you for asking this question! I initially wanted the NC750x obsessively, not the rebel! Due to the delay of the 2021 NC and the earlier release of the rebel 1100 with DCT, i was tempted to consider the Rebel. After extensive research and reflection, i decided to risk it and get the rebel, mind you i had a lot on the line as i had taken a 10 year break from bikes (track only rider R6). The bike had to be something very special and had to impress me in more ways than one in order for me to get back into my lifelong passion. i'm 5'7", 165 lbs with short arms and short legs, 48 yrs old, dislocated shoulders and a bad back. Comfort is of utmost importance to me, hence why my initial research brought me to Honda's DCT, as i suffer from arm pump and left wrist pain, but wanted to tour and travel long distance, i'm an adventurer at heart. I had concluded that the NC was the best fit for me and was going to lower the bike to fit me. I had months of internal arguments between choosing the rebel or the NC. To help ease my anxiety, i reassured myself by saying that i could always trade in the rebel when the NC comes out. I "settled" for the rebel so i thought. Let me tell you, boy did this freakin bike blow my mind! WOW! One of the best decisions i've made! I can go on and on about the rebel 1100 and talk your ears off. It is sooooo much more than i had ever hoped for, simply brilliant, an amazing piece of engineering, the power is intoxicating, the handling is mind boggling! like i said i can go on and on about the bike! However, due to my unusual physique, the back pain i was experiencing due to the forward lean because of my short arms was unbearable and was quite depressing tbh, it was either fix the riding position or sell the bike..... i hate to admit. I concluded that the bars need to be brought back asap, visited my local shop to see what new handlebars could work on the rebel as well as lots of online research, at that time nothing was available, so the only option i could consider were risers. I bought both the 2 inch and 3 inch and hoped that i would be able to make the 3 inch work, and let me tell you, what a difference it made, pain free! I was so happy that i decided to share my experience with others on facebook, due to so many having the same issue, i was motivated to make this video so that others can feel the same joy i do now. I even took it a step further and have since installed the 4 inch risers! Another issue you will have is the seat, plain and simple it is horrible! An airhawk made a world of difference for sure! I have since taken my seat to a local upholsterer and reshaped the seat to my shape resulting in no more pain ($150), that bought me time to wait until i find the ultimate solution with a comfortable seat. The suspension is adequate, you will definetly have to add preload specific to your weight and riding style, but it is not a dual sport bike. I added 10 clicks of preload in the rear and 1 full turn in the front, that's the sweet spot for me. To conclude, if i had to make the same decision again between the NC and the rebel, it will take me less than a second to decide on the rebel knowing what i now know. Still, in an ideal world i will eventually get the NC as well so i can have both! Might have been very tempted to get it this year in addition to the rebel had the NC come with cruise control. btw, absolutely in love with the cruise control on a bike! Moving forward, any and all bikes that i will get will have a DCT and cruise control! Sorry for the long answer, but it is honest and from the heart.

    @@ontherebel11 thanks! That's what I ended up doing too with 3 inch risers. I was commenting yesterday while doing that and the batwing. I've noticed the clutch gets a little tight and the friction point and pull tension gets tight when I have the bars locked to the right still but that's only going to be for slow speed parking lot maneuvers so I think it's fine. The 3 inch rise is such a much needed change! Your batwing install video was a massive help too btw. Very happy we have your info out here for us.

    Btw I know you toyed around with the cut puig windscreen and all that...after I got the risers and batwing on, the wind direction ended up being right in the worst spot for me. It needs to either be a little higher where I'm under the wind, which I would want for long trips, or a little lower where I'm over the top but the wind that hits me is steady and constant instead of a high frequency buffering. I'm 5'10". Did you keep the stock windscreen from the batwing? I'm planning on getting a seat too which will raise me a bit with the options I'm looking at.

    @@StillGrayProductions the size will be hard for me to estimate as the angle you will have the risers set to will deterime the length of spacers and screws needed. Not a dumb question at all brother! The best way to measure what you need is to sit on the bike at the angle you want your back to be in, then extend your arms to the bars and rest your fingers on the bars. Then measure the distance from where the bars rest on your fingers to the palm of your hand. That will tell you quickly how many inches you need.
