    How it started: 1973, Dolly begs Jolene with the "flaming locks of auburn hair" not to take her man. How it's going: 2021, Reba with the "flaming locks of auburn hair" now begs Dolly not to take her man. Straight up savage, Dolly. :D

    This song is mature as hell. My first husband's mistress is one of my best friends now. after I left him when I was 7 months pregnant with his child because he was messing with her. She got two kids by him and he abandoned them. I realized it wasn't her it was him all along. She didn't owe me fidelity, he did. Also, she didn't know he was married. We had long talks and I found out all the lies he told her. Our kids love each other very much. We made sure to put our kids above all. 14 years later I met the man of my dreams and he treasures me and I treasure him and the special bond we share together for 5 years now. The woman who I thought was the cause of all my pain when I was so young and naive, was just another victim of our ex. I love her as my little sister. She was very young when he started messing with her. I'm there for her as she has been there for me. She would watch my son in order for me to finish college. I would watch her babies when she had any type of emergency. She is like blood to me.

    I enjoy when two betrayed women can bond through the realization that the man with whom the loyalty was promised is the one who deserves the blame. May God bless you for the maturity and forgiveness you've shown this woman, and may you find a lifetime of happiness with your new & improved man. He sounds wonderful.

    I hate to say it, but your friend is to blame as well. She DID owe you respect as your friend and she violated that. I was in almost the identical situation so I speak from knowledge. Also, as women, we need to stop all the backstabbing and sleeping with married men and support one another.

  • @toniray5938

    @toniray5938

    @@michellepertle10 Valid Point. If women would join to make the commitment to the sisterhood to never be inappropriate with a taken man, this world dilemma would basically be solved... but unfortunately, we human beings can become selfish to our own needs. Personally, I have never *knowingly* been with a man who was spoken for by another, but men (and women) are quite capable to deceive not just their partners but their prospects. I'm not sure whether the original commentator meant the other woman was her best friend at the time the infidelity started or is her best friend now. Regardless, I was commenting that I appreciated and respected her maturity, as too often, the other woman is blamed and the cheating partner gets depicted as the victim. Ugh! I understand all too well the pain of being cheated on, and I am sorry, Michelle, that this happened to you as well. I completely agree with you that both are to blame... but I enjoy when women come together to fully realize the manipulative, narcissistic ways of certain cheaters. Wishing you the best as you move forward... 🙂

    This song was ALWAYS meant to be sung from a mature woman’s viewpoint. These are not lyrics for some broken hearted young girl, this is a song for women and the fact these two Grand Diva QUEENS of music proves it. This song was always waiting for these two Grand Dames of country music to come together and put the soul to the words

    Cheating affairs, infidelity, human needs, desires and jealousy happen at all ages. It doesn't take 3-year-old to have sexual "experience" for them to know that the person of their affection is interested in someone else. This could even be said for a kid wanting attention from their Dad, when all the Dad does is give attention to the Mom and visa versa. We learn these relationship dynamics from day one when we are born. Do not be ageist or ignorant.

    You've described what my 25 year old mind struggled to put into words. I don't even like this genre of music. I prefer Nicki and Taylor, but the Reba Show was on at my job this morning so I clicked this video. I've listened to RnB/PoP songs with the same scenario as this but the older generation just has a certain quality...you said it best. I don't have the right words. I really hope more young people get a chance to listen to this song.

    Dolly's voice gave me chills when she first came in. She gave an entirely different vibe to the meaning of this song. I always understood it to mean the two women knew they were obsessing over a man that didn't deserve them and how they danced around the truth that they were fooling themselves into thinking they needed him. One from the wife's perspective, one from the other woman's perspective. And it still means that, but the fierceness and fire of Reba's voice and the soft, sweet melody of Dolly's voice is so powerful. The Queens of country music making a legendary collaboration. A gift from God, surely...

    Always loved Dolly and her attitude. Love her well known saying how, “you wouldn’t believe how much money it costs me to look this cheap!” A billion bucks she’s worth from writing over 700 songs. When we lose Dolly my gosh, there’s nobody else out there who can come near her status. We’re almost out of the true legends. Reba is a legend in her own right but Dolly is a music deity.

    It’s a wife and a hooker having equal voice about the husband. That’s pure evil ! And it’s had its affects on society, stuff like this. Blanche Devereaux ! Yeah, just a comedy, a sitcom. Look at what they’re doing to Young America in the porn industry today ! This is how they prepped that evil trafficking.

    Dolly has always been someone that they put in the south to corrupt Southern Women. And the young folks. And the men as well. That’s why she had to look “that cheap !”

    ❤ The two greatest women singers in the whole world. Absolutely.Both stunningly beautiful and their voices will never be outdone by anyone! They are the women that then open the door For the women country singers of today To be able to sing and be proud to follow in the footsteps of Dolly.and Reba. Thank you, beautiful, ladies.Forgive enough.The ability to hear all the great new country women singers. No one will ever compare to them or me.Their abilities But now we get to hear new female artist and we can judge for ourselves.❤❤❤

    the perfect duet has finally happened. Amazing. Reba is just absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and her voice is better than fine wine. So perfect. Dolly adds the delicacy and femininity this song has needed since day one. I'm absolutely so blessed to be alive to hear this magic. Great job, 2 legends 4 ever. Bravo. ♥♥♥

    I love the changes Dolly put into this song- it gives her 'character' another dimension to it that makes you think of the role of mistress differently. Having the two women sit together and 'talk it out' ......

    This brings back all the memories from half a lifetime back. My first husband had a much younger little blonde, tanning bed sweetie that he left me and our two little daughters for. It broke me, but the girls and I made it through, and now they are both happily married with little girls of their own. I waited until they were grown to even go out to dinner with a man who was a widower. He was a wonderful man and we had nearly 8 years together before he died. The funny part... that little blonde left him exactly a month after our divorce was final. My ex remarried 20 years after that and his current wife is a good friend of mine. I have shared lots of stories with her.😊
