This song is mature as hell. My first husband's mistress is one of my best friends now. after I left him when I was 7 months pregnant with his child because he was messing with her. She got two kids by him and he abandoned them. I realized it wasn't her it was him all along. She didn't owe me fidelity, he did. Also, she didn't know he was married. We had long talks and I found out all the lies he told her. Our kids love each other very much. We made sure to put our kids above all. 14 years later I met the man of my dreams and he treasures me and I treasure him and the special bond we share together for 5 years now. The woman who I thought was the cause of all my pain when I was so young and naive, was just another victim of our ex. I love her as my little sister. She was very young when he started messing with her. I'm there for her as she has been there for me. She would watch my son in order for me to finish college. If women would join to make the commitment to the sisterhood to never be inappropriate with a taken man, this world dilemma would basically be solved... but unfortunately, we human beings can become selfish to our own needs. Personally, I have never *knowingly* been with a man who was spoken for by another, but men (and women) are quite capable to deceive not just their partners but their prospects. Cheating affairs, infidelity, human needs, desires and jealousy happen at all ages. It doesn't take 3-year-old to have sexual "experience" for them to know that the person of their affection is interested in someone else. This could even be said for a kid wanting attention from their Dad, when all the Dad does is give attention to the Mom and visa versa. I've listened to RnB/PoP songs with the same scenario as this but the older generation just has a certain quality...you said it best. I don't have the right words. Dolly's voice gave me chills when she first came in. She gave an entirely different vibe to the meaning of this song. I always understood it to mean the two women knew they were obsessing over a man that didn't deserve them and how they danced around the truth that they were fooling themselves into thinking they needed him. One from the wife's perspective, one from the other woman's perspective. And it still means that, but the fierceness and fire of Reba's voice and the soft, sweet melody of Dolly's voice is so powerful. The Queens of country music making a legendary collaboration. A gift from God, surely...

I love both Reba and Dolly, but Loretta Lynn is the undisputed Queen of country music.

Not sure how I missed this for a a year. This is one of the songs that made me a Reba fan. Having it reimagined as a conversation between the two women is wonderful, seems like it should have always been this way. Absolutely fantastic work by both these legends.

That’s because they have. Both have been cheated on harshly in their past. Dolly had written “Jolene” after a fiery red head took the man she had been seeing from her, but has since been happily married to her current hubby of 50 years. Reba has had a couple of marriages that ended in divorce, so she’s experienced her fair share of rocky relationships. Both are quite familiar with heartbreak.

I doubt Reba would ever see this comment but she has always been my inspiration and her music always concerts me through rough times. I would have never made it through my rough times without her. Love the video but do not like this version the original is soooooo much better and I love both of these amazing ladies but not teamed up in this song

So beautifully done! Two amazing wemin with their own talents. The way this came out is pure art. They were able to showcase each star for their own gifts and then use them to accent each other. This is how strong wemin everywhere should treat other strong wemin...to build off each other and let each have her moment. Just perfect 😍💕☺️

I feel like Dolly's voice hasn't held up like Reba's, BUT the rasp adds a more heartbreaking feel to it. ❤ These women are the most amazing country music icons ever!

This is coming from a black inspiring rapper, country music is so essential in music writing now a day because no other music tells a deeper raw story. This song reminds me so much of Jolene by dolly. 2 legends, this was long over due Beautiful story telling here without a doubt

This song will forever remind me of Barbara,my first crush in High school.but i don't know what happened to her I was a gawky,slim 15years old and I never went out with her.bonnie Tyler was the best and the music of seventies was awesome and then some! Where do you Come from?

This version is much less powerful than the original, so it’s not expected at all. The soft harmonies bring so much more profound emotion to the story, and it’s heartbreaking. The original was more a tortured, angry pain while this one is almost a defeated acceptance of their pain. 😭. I love Dolly and Reba!!!

No. The original with Linda Davis was better.

Always loved Dolly and her attitude. Love her well known saying how, “you wouldn’t believe how much money it costs me to look this cheap!” A billion bucks she’s worth from writing over 700 songs. When we lose Dolly my gosh, there’s nobody else out there who can come near her status. We’re almost out of the true legends. Reba is a legend in her own right but Dolly is a music deity.

The original version is far superior.

I love the changes Dolly put into this song- it gives her 'character' another dimension to it that makes you think of the role of mistress differently. Having the two women sit together and 'talk it out' ......

This brings back all the memories from half a lifetime back. My first husband had a much younger little blonde, tanning bed sweetie that he left me and our two little daughters for. It broke me, but the girls and I made it through, and now they are both happily married with little girls of their own. I waited until they were grown to even go out to dinner with a man who was a widower. He was a wonderful man and we had nearly 8 years together before he died. The funny part... that little blonde left him exactly a month after our divorce was final. My ex remarried 20 years after that and his current wife is a good friend of mine. I have shared lots of stories with her.😊
