Plus I love the interior and exterior design on the 3rd gen. I drove ALL of the midsize and full size truck offerings from all of the manufacturers when I drove for a rental car company for 3 years. The current Tacoma is the best of the midsizers hands down.

Hang on to it. An oldie but a goodie! At least for me, it’s just a reliable and worry free ownership experience. I get it, there are more technologically advanced trucks in the market with bells and whistles galore. But, I know I can get to work, play a little, and even take the kiddos to school without ever having to worry about BS warning lights and gremlins. And, it looks super cool even from an older guy’s prospective like myself. I sold my Raptor, bought a Tacoma and haven’t looked back!!!

Yes, but that was in late 2019. It was a 2018 model. I couldn’t live with it being such a difficult vehicle to park, to include my garage. That said, if those conundrum’s don’t bother you, a Raptor is still one the baddest trucks on the planet. For me, my Tacoma TRD pro was simply easier to live with. I sincerely chose that over the the sportiness and power that Raptor was superior in.

By the time I found out about all the issues (plus price and markups), which there are many, I couldn't get a '21 for less than 10K over msrp. These trucks keep getting bulkier but not better. My 2004 taco has as much interior room as the 2023 but looks tiny sitting next to it. Toyota has mostly ditched the idea of a midsized truck and gone for a small full-sized. And none of the gen 3s are showing the type of longevity and reliability that made the gen 1 and gen 2 famous.

What? Name these dire, God awful problems that are plaguing the Gen 3's. The Gen 1 and Gen 2 did NOT make Toyota's famous. The simple named Toyota pick up did that for years prior to being named Tacoma as a 1995 1/2 truck.

I've owned a 1990 Ext cab 4x4 22RE 5sp (that's the injected version), 1994 3.0L Auto (totaled in 96), 1995 1/2 3.4L 5sp (First called Tacoma), 2012 4.0L auto and 2016 3.5L auto. The BEST of all these trucks was the 1990. A friend bought a new 1985 Toyota pick up after joining the Marines, that was a great truck as well, but I never owned it. Your claim that the 1 & 2 generations are great and "none of the gen 3s are showing the type of longevity and reliability" is ridiculous and makes you look as if you don't know what you're talking about.

Let’s get started. When Tacoma came out with third GEN the 16-17 model had issues. They have built an amazing vehicle people say the best selling midsize pick up. Toyota tundra came out with a new model with issues. I do feel if anybody wanted to, they should buy this last GEN or wait a couple years for all the kinks to be worked out. The proof is in the pudding.

I have a 2016 I bought new in November of 2015 (very early in the Gen 3 production run) I have NEVER had a problem with this truck. And a suspect 99% of the 16 & 17 Tacoma's have had no problems.

What do you mean 2016, that body style has been around since 2005. All that was done, they change the front grille and the interior and the engine. Now we have to wait another year for a whole new look. Electric Tacoma pickup truck, keep it. Nothing better than a gas powered pickup truck like my old 1989 Toyota extended cab pickup.

50k is outlandish for a mid size truck. I traded a 2019 Tacoma for a 2020 F150 just because it was too small. Anyone over 6 foot with long legs is not going to be comfortable with that truck. Tundra is the better choice from Toyota.

If Toyota extended the bumper to bumper warranty from 3 years/36,000 miles to 5 years $70,000, then I would buy the 2024 Tacoma. The problem with all new generation of cars are they tend to be riddled with problems. It takes about two production years of the new model to work out the problems. Alas Toyota will not extend the warranty, affecting their reputation.

Both my current vehicles are the base models and I want better but not the best ( more things to break with expensive maintenance ).
