How to replace your rear NOx sensor on a class 8 truck (Peterbilt/Kenworth) this is on a Paccar but almost all of them are very similar.

    ,This is a very entertaining video even if you don’t ever intend on changing sensors. “The Lights Went Out in Georgia” was GREAT! BTW, Snap-On flush cut cutters are the DEAL for zip ties. No sharp corners!

    I keep getting a P3973 Nox after catalyst data erratic. 2014 Pete with a 2012 epa10 Paccar . Clear it and sometimes it stays out for a week or two other times comes back within a half hour. Replace the sensor?? Or do you think it’s like a doser issue?

    If you don't have an o2 socket you can bash the end of the sensor off with a hammer and use a regular socket or box end wrench on the sensor. Another trick is to heat the welded bung in the exhaust on one side only.

    I missed this one. Awesome stuff. Where would you be able to buy the laptop with Davey software? The only place I have seen them is the Diesel Laptops website. Is there somewhere else that may be cheaper?

    2:50 Grab that bastard with both hands and yank up on it. The steel tangs will bend and distort, but you can realign them with needle nose pliers and cram it back in when reinstalling. Crappar (paccar) owner here too... I like the engine, hate the wiring and exhaust.

    Stephen Stegall I had those codes for a wile, my mechanic told me is lambda sensor, so we changed it and now is off.

    If the NOx sensor did not come out with just a wrench. Would wild bill use his new torches to heat the mount to get the sensor out

    you would be better off with CRC Freeze off w/ penetrating lube trust me been there done that got the t shirt using high heat and cold water can crack the welds and have a worse day Freeze OFF will literally freeze while allowing the penetrating lube to get in just like PB Blaster

    Clay who do you use for Alignments? I have a 1995 T600, that wearing both steer tires on the inside. Going to have to get new Steers And get the issue taken care of. I'm north of you about 35 miles or so.

    We take all our trucks to either Southern Tire or Summit in Tupelo MS that’s the best places I know of for alignments. We usually put new tires on at our shop and take them straight there and have it done

    Those places clay recommended are very good. If no one else can figure it out, look up Leland Sowell Frame and Alignment in Memphis, I've seen him fix alignment and tire wear issues no one else could. Just another suggestion.

    Do you ever check the faulty components afterwards just out of interest to see why it failed, was it a broken wire to the brain etc. When I do jobs it annoys the life out of me when I replace a part and it fixes it but don't know why it happened.

    I think this is wrong with my Peterbilt 579 I keep getting Dpf status high but it will go off then will come back on will go off then come back on the truck never lost power or did it start losing speed let me know if any one had same issue

    I’m doing this job myself on a 14 Peterbilt 579. Can you link to the scanner you used or a similar one that I can plug in and clear codes? I have the road relay unit and it pulls codes but doesn’t clear them. I was told the code would clear itself most likely after 3 successful starts. Not sure that’s true though

    The best on the market and affordable is this one otrperformance.com/?ref=claykoon It will clear codes and force a regen and get you off the road vs having to pay a tow bill.     Koon Trucking Just plugged in that OTR reset/regen tool and let it do its thing. Thank you so much for recommending this. That 3226 code so far was a false positive so I’ll wait for the code to come back to confirm before I change out the outlet NOx sensor. Just finished a 45 min, 1000 degree forced regen and it says to do that once every few weeks. This thing is so worth the price! Thanks a ton!

    I have changed out my Inlet knock sensor three times I have bought from the dealer and it still throws a code for erratic signal??

    Honestly w a paccar engine you are much better off to purchase the DAVEY system the Snap On ProLink is a great tool but they are still behind in the Paccar game. There a bunch we have to use the davey On because prolink can’t and won’t do what we need

    Shane Rasmussen no you can buy the DAVEY with laptop cheaper than the ProLink and just Paccar software. I can promise you. I have them both I know and you can do MUCH more with Davey. Snap On ProLink is great for different engines etc all on one platform but at the end of the day if you just own a paccar then hands down 100% go with DAVEY !

    koon trucking, does kenworth dealers sell parts to the public like sensor egr cooler i would like to change all my sensor and egr cooler will they sell me those part, looking to get 2014 kw t660 but i want to do all that at my house

    Hope you are replacing due to a heater element fault and not a drifted high. If its a drifted high fault it will most likely come back due to an actual scr issue. I Work on kws with mx13s regularlu and see so many mis diagnosed outlet NOx sensors.

    I have fault code saying poor def quality scr/def then my def light started flashing I cut the truck off let it sit. 30 minutes later started it up no lights recently had a regen done what sensor could that be

    @@johnmclaughlin757 Most likely the DEF tank sensor. There is a TIB on them for replacing the coolant control valve to the tank with the new sensor.

    Don't guess there is any other way to clear codes without a scanner is there?????was gonna change mine myself but not being able to clear it afterwards so light goes out will not know if that fixed my problem or not......it is throwing the code for the outlet nox sensor.........

    You will have to have the codes cleared and it may even require a regen for it to go away if it is derated

    It's sad companies have to resort to that I just changed 1 oxygen sensor on a john deere 8.1 cng almost 1000 just for that not including labor and I bet it cost them 50 bucks to manufacture in Japan

    Take your truck to Peterbilt they are going to charge you 5 hours for a half an hour job .

    I just changed my inlet nox sensor. Kenworth wanted 3 hours labor of $579.. it took me 2 hours tops and I’m not a seasoned mechanic.. worst part was the two 13mm bolts I had to remove and put back on. Other then that it wasn’t bad.
