Great marketing by the Wizard in this video, shows he has the right diagnostic tools for pretty much any 2000's Lambo(and Diablo) Putting all that stuff in a cool orange case 😎
Wizard: "This car is really easy to work on." Also Wizard: "This guy drove all the way from Nebraska because he couldn't find anybody in his own state who could work on it. Also, you need a lift to access anything, you can't buy the struts anymore, you need special, rare, discontinued software preinstalled on a several-thousand dollar, used laptop that could die any minute to diagnose it, and the the OBDII cables needed to interface with it aren't actually OBDII and are not interchangeable with other cars, or even other Lamborghini models, or even the same model of a different year range. Like I said, piece of cake!"

The Wizard isn't a computer guy. If it was my laptop, I'd immediately clone the hard drive and keep a dd copy file on backup. Then, I'd install a ssd for better reliability on this computer. If it goes bad, I can a: buy a laptop of the same model and clone back the hard drive, to make it the same or b: make a P2V and use the same Windows setup and software in a virtual machine, running on any laptop. I did it many many times and it works quite well!
@houseofno
2 жыл бұрын
@@alexandrecouture2462 ssd's have a limited number of read write cycles before they go into a read only state. The average lifespan of an SSD (depending on usage) is three to five years. By comparison, I have seen hard drives still in use after a decade or more of regular operation. SSDs are great for performance but not a great choice for repeated read write applications. In some instances a 7200 rpm hard drive really is the best option if you're not going to replace the drive regularly. For a laptop that will not see that much usage, I would probably use an SSD on something else. How often do you see the Car Wizard servicing a late model Lamborghini? Especially on an older legacy laptop? Some older cars will not work with USB but still use serial bus interfaces. Laptops of that vintage (pre-2006) are not going to support the SATA interfaces most SSDs use. Another example in which a 7200 rpm IDE (not SATA) hard drive is a better choice than an SSD with an unsupported interface. Newer (technology) isn't always the better solution

When he mentioned the control to jack the front up for clearance, it reminded me of Clarkson talking about a car needing to clear a "sleeping policeman", took me awhile to realize he was talking about a speed bump.
Mrs.Wizard, thanks for the post-prod red arrow. That really makes things clear. I hope you'll keep doing that in the future. Your husband is great at vocally explaining what he's doing and why but it's not always clear *what* is being changed. You guys make a great team.

As someone who knows computer, it would be wise to use macrium reflect to make a backup of that Lambo laptops hard drive so if the hard drive dies, and that usually what goes first in old computers, you can get a PC shop to put a new one in and restore from your backup instead of having to buy another computer. Macrium reflect is free to download, just backup the C drive into an image file you put on a USB drive which you can safely store, I use it for all of my computers and my customers computers.

Hi Wizard, Interesting that you mention the O2 sensor fault, someone I know has the same model car in Australia, check engine light was always on, he took it to a dealer and a Lambo "specialist" and neither could find the fault, the owner was so annoyed with the problem that he was going to sell the car till I suggested he take it to a friend who is an electronics engineer who specialises in cars, fault was intermittent but eventually he found a faulty O2 sensor, replaced the sensor and its all fixed and the owner is happy. Finding the right people to repair difficult to find faults is the never easy.
