By their very nature, Pokémon are highly stylized, so reimagining them as biologically feasible lifeforms presents an exciting challenge. This concept is the idea behind the Realistic Pokémon project, a series by RJ Palmer, aka ‘Arvalis’ who is so talented he was hired to assist with the designs for movies like Detective Pikachu.
His art imagines what kind of biology a more scientifically grounded version of a Pokémon might have - often with fascinating results.
So, this entry into the archive will be a Pokémon nature documentary of sorts, examining Palmer’s redesigned Pokémon as if they were real animals.

This reminds me of when you translate a sentence into a different language, then back to the original, and it's something new, that's what this artist has basically done with these pokemon, translating what were originally inspired by real world animals back into realistical animals. Not gonna lie, turning Gastly's comical eyes into a pair of large bat ears is pretty smart. I'd like to think people from the ancient times mistook the ears for a pair of big eyes staring at them from the darkness in their panic, and thus Gastly's depiction as spectral floating heads came to be.

Yeah, I mean since the game/series is originally from Japan, I think they could keep the markings but borrow from some dog breeds, particularly soup hounds, that do have stripes and made it like a chow chow/lab mix or an Akita Inu--something like that. If you want to go for a huge skeletal form, go for a mastiff breed. I'm a dog person, so dog breeds are more my forte. This guy seems to be into lizards and paleontology.

Same, it pleases my imaginative brain. When i saw these realistic pokemon i just imagined a movie with the idea of a huge catastrophic phenomena occured around the planet. Massive earthquakes are happening all around the globe causing a tremendous loss of human and animal lives then tsunamis happened. After all of those events, some sort of interdimensional portals suddenly appeared on certain parts of earth in the visage of huge surface cracks and ruptures, like fault lines splitting countries and continents, on the earth's surface, products of the earthquakes. Then they appeared out of the portals, the pokemons. After 50 years, the appearance of earth is now quite different from that of it's former self, continents are split, and some countries are either split or severely damaged or sunk, only few governments are existing, barely 500 million humans are left trying to survive this new damaged world full of these mysterious, mythical and magical creatures that could either kill them or help them survive.

I imagine the Charmander family's fire attacks are made by a kind of flammable venom. It's either less potent as a Charmander, or they simply don't have great command over it yet, so you get weaker attacks like Ember, and their venom gets progressively more potent as a Charmeleon and Charizard, so you see more powerful attacks like Flamethrower and Fireblast. I figure since most actual reptile bites are infectious due to filth, corrosive saliva, or actual venom, that would kinda follow through to these guys haha

I’d like to imagine The Snivy line becoming more carnivorous as they evolve, with Serperior bing a full on Carnivore whilst Snivy bing a Herbivore. That’s if you look at them in the wild, but out in the place called “Captivity“ it is a lot different, since you can force a full on Carnivore to become a Herbivore. I also imagine that a Charmander can eat a Magikarp, while it is fishing with its parents at the closest river near its home cave. Tho, until we can get a full on Pokémon food chain, I don’t think this opinion will ever be fact, speaking of which, I’d like to see a Pokémon food chain, where each and every Pokémon is put in a food chain just like the real world food chain, and to make things less complex, it’s only will take place on the wild, there, done 😎

Magikarp is canonically eaten by Pidgeot, who snatch it out of the air when it splashes. Pidgeys also eat Caterpies, Chandelures eat souls, and Sandeghast & Swalot eat everything they encounter.

@@pistincup352 That would mostly depend on things. We can assume Totadile is a carnivore, and that Cynaquil is an herbivore, based on the animals they're inspired by. Any Pokémon MADE of rock or steel would have to be getting that material from somewhere, and Onix & Aron are known to eat rocks and steels respectively. Poison-types either make their own poison, or eat OTHER poisonous pokémon and absorb the toxins. Some poisonous frogs for example eat toxic bugs and fruits, which causes the poison to build up in their blood. Zubat likely makes its own venom, but Trubbish gains its poison from the rotten garbage it eats. Ursaring is a bear, so it likely eats both fruits and meat. Wabbofett lives in caves, so perhaps it eats cave moss or fungus?

Honestly, I don't get why Arcanine had to get feline features. Personally we had 3 dogs who had such so huge manes a lesser male lion's. They were brothers from a bedding of nine puppies. They were all glorious, huge members of their species, all of them lived long and healthy lives on our farm. Their father was a Kuvasz, their mother was a Newfoundland dog. I miss them so much, since the last of them died nearly 10 years ago. Personally, Scyther is my favourite. It's reimage looks beautiful! :D
