An excellent video - I have come the same journey with an Air 2s as a stopgap before the 3 arrived as I needed better active track than the Pro 2. I agree with pretty much all you have said although I would add that despite all the problems/frustrations I would find it very difficult to go back from the quality of the Mavic 3. BUT, the way the Mavic 3 has been presented to the market half finished is shameful and something I won't for get in a hurry DJI 😏 However, there simply isn't another drone that compares - If you want/need the bigger sensor quality in a fold up easy to carry drone then this is the only one. Like you I am loving the low light performance and look forward to playing in that area. So many things need improving and DJI probably will over the next few months which is good but damn annoying at the same time. The tracking released earlier than suggested is all over the place (literally) again simply not ready. Overall I'm happy with buying the 3, in an unhappy way, if that makes sense..... I look forward to following your progress - fingers crossed. Have a good 2022, Cheers, Chris

This was great! I’m coming from the Phantom 4 Pro v2 to the Mavic series. I do a lot of above the mist type shots, and hate those magenta blobs and artificial streaks. Your review was the first I’ve seen to mention this. Spot on about the decision to go with the Fly app. Yuck. Going from the Go 4 app to the Fly app is a serious downgrade. Hopefully DJI will keep improving the Fly app, plus add new functionality and controls via firmware and software upgrades. They’re pretty good about that. Thanks for this post. My finger is hovering above the purchase now button for the M3.

Thanks Mike, glad to hear you had a similar experience with the P4P + M2. Some people told me they never noticed it on theirs. Makes the footage look so cheap! Agreed though, those misty fog shots are amazingg

I'm super pumped for the Mavic 3s 😀😀. It's supposed to come out end of 2022/early 2023 with a one inch telefoto lens, better GPS performance and increased flight time 😀😀.

You can do control Ev comp with the dial.

So, I bought the Mavic 3 and I’m very happy with it. The photos are gorgeous and it’s easy to fly. My last drone was Mavic 2. Do I think I paid too much for the Mavic 3? Yes, but it’s one of those things where you want the very best at the time. I’m a photographer and appreciate the larger sensor. Truthfully, I think there is too much bashing just to get viewers. On KZread.

I totally agree with you James! The M3 is pretty much 25% better in every category. Absolutely worth the extra price. However whether to upgrade to the Cine is a much harder question

A full frame sensor in the Mavic 4 would be great, but that would significantly drive the price up. If we're lucky they'll go with an APSC sensor which will still provide stellar results.

yeah.. better medium format.. or even more. a flying 1x1meter box please.. As you can see even 1 inch sensor is similarily capalbe. No really need for anything like a full frame . Lens would be too havy.

unlike people, not all pixels are created equal , cause the better the pixel the better the detail the better the sharpness the better the low light is you can see in the darkness my god I like you since 496 subscribers to hopefully 1-5mil

I have had a pretty rough experience with my mavix 3 so far. I have had to have 3 replacements due to various different issues (horizon tilt on the first, dead pixels on the second, and broken gimbal out of box on the third. After all the trouble, I definitely see an improvement over the mavic 2 when stationary, however movement at 24fps seems to give more judder than any of the other drones. Super odd.

Please tell me why is my Mavic Air 2 4k video is sharper (has more details) than my 2nd drone Mavic 3 (4K and 5K videos are not so sharp as Mavic air 2)? i have tested 2 different Mavic 3 and they are taking the same unsharp video with wide lens camera. is this specification in all Mavic 3 drones' cameras?

Wow, only 10 seconds comparing the M3 telephoto lens with the M2? Otherwise great video but I came here mainly to see image quality difference of M3 telephoto vs M2 digitally zoomed. Thousands of people have to shoot a subject from a long distance/ want a close up (eg. wildlife shooters who can't get close) so this is really important!

Hey Luke, great point and thanks for the feedback. It's funny you bring that up because I've been wanting to make a follow-up video dedicated to just that tele lens. At the time of filming this the capabilities were severely limited (no raw, manual, etc), so I brushed it off as kind of gimmicky. But I've grown to love it after using it for over a year, and I'm especially excited for the 70mm option and upgraded 166mm on the Mavic 3 Pro - Mine's on pre-order so keep an eye out for a follow-up vid!

I like how unique photo you can get with the telephoto lens, but it wonders me why some people in reviews of this dron almost don't mention this lens or say the quality is poor and blurry and to not use it, for me it is one of the main futures of this drone.

Hey great question! With that comment I was mostly referring to the M3 cine version, which is $5k. But honestly I would totally recommend the Mavic 3 still for starting your business! Depending on your budget you could get the regular or the “classic” version (which would only cost between $1600 and $3k)

How do you feel about sharpness in the Mavic 3? I loved this kind of softer image in the Mavic 2, because it matchet better to cinema cameras like Blackmagic. Now the Mavic 3 seems to be too sharp, almost like smartphone cameras. What do you think about that?

Very nice video, but I have no flare at all when shooting with my two M2Ps. No flare at all. Super clean! On the M3 I get a large green flare on both of my M3s :(

Hey Frederik, thanks for sharing that. That's super interesting! Very strange, no idea how to explain it. I've seen it on some other as well, but maybe it could have to do with how clean the lens is. I agree that the big green artifact on M3 is kindof annoying :(

I can assure you, the M2pro has awfull looking green and red colored flare when shooting into the sun at low horizon, e.g the midnight sun. Exactly like what is showing in this video.

I found that the color pallet & sharpness, Alex, better on the Mavic 3 Classic than the Mavic 2 Zoom. Repeatedly & undeniably I found that the GO 4 app outperformed the Sky app on the Mavic 3 though. More disconnections. At the same location & in 4K the way point missions had too many un-programed jerks in them which could ruin the whole video clip if it was not @ the very beginning or end. The Sky app was much better though @ controlling the yaw rotational speed with the Mavic 3.

Good video except the complaint on the screen. It’s a huge improvement to use an RC remote from standard people using phones. The fact you used a mini iPad is totally your choice and bad to compare with new remote

Mavic 2 pro shots has smoother color look. Mavic 3 shots seems sharpened. I can see "iphone" look in Mavic 3. Mavic 2 Pro has more "real camera" look.

m2p stand it's own level STILL such a great drone! m3p or classic undeniably is better but not MUCH! this is impressive HOW good m2p still is and it's since 2018!

Mavic 2 Pro footage looks better in daylight
