Air 3. I was very worried about low light but so many reviewers have shown it does well. The C1 classifications also are a huge point for me. I travel quite a bit so it is nice to know that I can fly a bigger drone in the EU. I was leaning towards the Mavic 3 classic but the price point, new RC (with improved range), and new flight modes you mentioned (cruise control) make this an easy choice. It checks so many boxes. I was a skeptic but not anymore.

Photos look better on the 2s so maybe a photographer will prefer the 2s but the rest , air3 really shines !

Great video, agree with everything except you saying the battery doesn't feel that safe on the air 2s with it being on top. It's actually safer that was because if a clip spring fails, you have gravity to hold it in. If one fails on the Air 3 the battery poops out the back and your drone drops like a stone. That being said, I've never had my air 2s battery clip fail, pop out or anything like that. I've also never heard of it happening unless someone crashed it. That would likely happy with any drone though. The interesting thing I've noticed is that out of all the tons of Air 3s reviews I cannot find a single one that actually compares the photos side by side for resolution, zoomed in, pixel peeping or blown up for larger prints. No one is doing it. It makes me think all of the first reviews are just paid ones, not sure though.

One reviewer said that for photos the Air2s remains the better drone compared to Air3

I was very worried about the smaller sensor in low light. Thanks for doing the comparison. I'm leaning towards a Mavic 3 Classic because my Mini struggles so much in winds over 20mph. Also, you're so right about birds, glad to hear the Air 3 descends and ascends faster now. I was in Colorado this last week in the mountains and a what looked like a turkey vulture got close to my drone. I went straight up and flew away and came back and landed safely. Cruise control is such a HUGE feature, so glad it made its way to the Air 3. Great review as always!

not really in the market for an air series. i run a m3e, m2 pro and mini 2 (for scoping to save the bigger brothers batteries) for work. i dont think i could live with the fixed aperture in the UK - the light levels change all the time with cloud/sun/cloud. if i was looking to replace my 2 pro it would be for the m3 classic.

I see so many people talking about the Air 3 being an upgrade from the Air 2s but don’t you think that the Air 3 is more of an upgrade from the Air 2? If you look at the history of DJI it’s very likely that the Air 3s will be the next version released. And that will be an upgrade from the Air 2s.

Although that might be true I’m just comparing the two latest models from the Air series. The comparison with the Air2 would be quite pointless as the drone is much older.

It’s the next Air. They don’t blindly look back 2 generations to make the latest.

The Air2s camera quality is much more "organic". I definitely prefer the 1" sensor on the 2s since it resolves the edges of objects in a nicer way than the way the 3 interprets the edges and makes them look a little too "sharp". Even with the sharpness on the 3 turned down, I think it will unsharpen the image in a way that doesn't look nice. The air 3 is crazy in lowlight, absolutely bonkers. As far as the DR goes, why didn't you shoot in d-log on the 2S?

Air 2 S 1 inch sensor 20mp - Air 3 1/1.3 sensor 12 mp - for photographers the Air 2 S is the better choice. You have a lot more room to work with. Wake me up when the Air 4 launches.

@sloppyjoe400 it's not really a 48mp photo. The photo quality of the Air 3 won't be on par with the Air 2s. Air 2s sensor is larger. That's like saying a 100mp cell phone picture will outshine a 40mp full frame shot from a Nikon Z8. No way no how.

@steveborghardt whatever you say boss.. he said it does 48mp, and yet you say it's not really 48, then what is it? From his own evidence in the video, I would say the air 3 has a better camera, but by all means tell me how the 2s is better. I currently have the air 2s, which I use for my business, which is primarily aerial photography. The air 3 in almost every way seems like a huge improvement over the 2s.

12 MP is plenty good if your not cropping or printing large.. for social media or real estate where it’s viewed online 12 is fine. It also has 3X zoom camera.

How is video quality against mavic 3 classic?Is it much diferent?

So far I see a pattern in all reviews that are DJI sponsored: Skip the photo part. Here you mention only the resolutions and quickly move on. This 12 MP, is that the true resolution and is the 48 mp some upscaled thin? Or is it a true 48mp image? Because if it is a 12 mp cam thats a huge difference with the 20MP of the air2s.

The BSI back side illuminated sensor helps with low light improvement. I think because it’s lower res at 4K each pixel is bigger so that helps with low light as well.

I'm saving you from pulling your hair off 6 months later! 😆Wait for the Dji Air 3 Pro. I said this more than 2 weeks ago, when the leaks confirmed that the Air 3 will come with a dual 1/1.3 sensor. PS. Dji is dropping the S version.

You made a great comparison of this two drones , I just put out my air 2s for sale after two years and I think it’s time to move forward as the technology admits. After this video I think it’s the right way to go even if the Air 2S is a fantastic drone, but in my humble opinion Air 3 seem to be better. Wow the air 3 looks so much better! Funny how people were talking crap about the sensor size but look at the difference in the night shots! The air 2s should be better with the larger sensor but that night mode is like you said, a game changer!

As a Air 2S owner I’m perfectly CONTENT with my 2S. Don’t get caught up with the latest and greatest 👍🏼

same with me , marketing trick , I`m dissapointed of Air3 , no point for the upgrade.

Hi, I lost my air2s on a windy flight recently and it didn't make it home. I'm a photographer and I'd like to know if it's worth the upgrade and if the Air 2s' camera is better than the Air3's during the day. I'm not sure whether to buy a new air2s because I was also flying with an insta360sphere lens attached to it and I really enjoyed making 360º videos. And with the air3 it would not be possible to make 360º videos However, I don't know if it was because of the insta360 sphere camera that caused the loss of signal in a lot of wind and not returning to home.

I was wondering if it is more worth it to get the air 2s fly more combo or just the bare air 3 (they're both around 1k USD).

I was in that same conundrum but actually went with the air 3 fly more combo with the RC 2. $1599 usd. Went ahead and got a best buy credit card with 1 year deferred interest. I think the monthly payments are around $140. I'm ok with that

its July 29th after midnight i just got an update for my Mavic 3 pro and its telling me the comtroller is going to be compatable with the new Air 3 i hope i read that right

im just curious at 4:01 you said you shoot dcinelike on air2s and dlog for air3, air2s has dlog right? why not shoot both on dlog?

Hi there! Love your video! Been watching reviews all day long. I was so sure to get a mini 3 pro as my first drone. Then they released the air 3 and now I’m split between air2s and the air 3. It’s gonna be my 1st drone ever - and I’m not sure i will see the difference camera wise. I like the obstacle avoidance on the air3 though. In Denmark I can get a used air 2S for 1000$ with fly more set or the new 3 air for 1770$. Can you give me some guidance please? The drone will mainly be used for vertical shooting and pictures (also most vertical) But is it waste to use those 700$ more? So many comments about “wait for the 3air s and etc”

Don’t wait, go for it! Especially for vertical shots - it’s either the Air3 or the Mini3 Pro,, you can’t go wrong with any of them

Would the Air 3 be better than the 2S for photogrammetry ? I already fly the P4P v2 at work for that purpose and I'm looking for an affordable drone for a side hustle.

p4p has a mechanical shutter which is the best for photogrammetry. The only other alternative is mavic 3 enterprise with the mechanical shutter but this is much more expensive than the p4p.

the p4p v2 is still my workhorse and it is going to be as long as I can get the parts and batteries. i also have the air 3 but it is not going to replace it. This also has to do with the software I use on the phantom, and a very expensive Flir camera it carries.

I'm thinking it doesn't have the 1inch sensor becasue the Air 2 didn't. This is why i'm confused that the Air 3 is being compared to the 2S and not the Air2? It seems like everyone has forgot about the Air 2. So was the 2s a one off or can we expect a 3S?

Hi, thanks for the video. Wondering if you could take some D-Log M shots with sharpening and noise reduction set to -2? That setting is key on my Mini 3 Pro to get good looking footage espeically in low light. Would love to see what difference it makes on the Air 3.

@@dnch DJI actually released an update to the Air 3 already with these two options. Would be great to see some footage with NR/Sharp -2/-2 now. Phillip Bloom will probably take a few more days with his review using the proper settings. ;)

I had my Air2s flyaway earlier this month and went for Air 3 without second thought. Loving it in my first flight. The only thing I am not happy with it is Air 3 is O4 and does not support O3 goggles like Avata's Goggles2. On the other hand RC2 is pretty good and I can wait for O4 goggles.

I have 3 friends who bought the Air 3 and this what they pretty much said. Never found the zoom feature useful. There isn't a significant upgrade in terms of image quality in camera and if anything the Air 2s produces slightly better images due to it larger pixels They hate the fact that the fly more combo of the Air 3 does not come with a charger they wishes they just spent that money on extra air 2s batteries I currently run the Air 2s and the only viasble upgrade would be the Air 3s if they release it.

So is "night mode" essentially a dual native ISO?

I just bought an Air2s. I love the higher FOV of the 22mm lens. Less bulky. I'll get an Mavic 3 Classic if I ever want bulk and flight time.

It’s great to see improvements into the drone market, but for my need, I’ll keep my Air 2s for longer

Can't go wrong with it, it's still a fantastic drone!

In some shots, the vdeo looks better with the 2 but the 3 still has the better camera. But I will stick with the 2 for now. I have had the 2 for a while now and it still works and looks new.

Can't help thinking that these would have been a lot closer had you bumped the Air 2s EV by a stop. Those Air 2s shots seem unnaturally dark and had I personally seen that on the controller screen I'd have given it an EV bump.

To keep everything as fair as possible i shot everything in auto on both drones. Yes, I’m sure the results would have been a lot different with ND filters, manual settings etc but that’s not the point. So I think I did it as fair as possible, relying on the tech inside the drones to do the work :)

@@DroneSupremacy I can see your logic and understand that you wanted to keep the playing field level, but you haven't compared the sensor/lens qualities, just the metering capabilities of the firmware. The Air 3 is doing a better job at balancing the scene, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Air 2s couldn't do as well out of auto mode. Just playing devil's advocate here - I really enjoyed your comprehensive review. :)

Notice all the sharpening artifacts in the buildings in the Air3 video. I own the Air2, Air2S and the Mavic 3 Classic. I can add sharpness in post but if it is over sharpened it is very difficult to remove. This is one of my biggest complaints of my Air2. Ever tried a feathered mask with a Gaussian blur? At 2.8 with the Classic the corners are rough. I can not really describe them as soft. Anybody else seeing what I am seeing in the video samples?

Great review thanks. Reddit immediately discounts the Air 3 due to a smaller sensor and reduced MP count alone. The vertical speed increase alone is needed. My Air 2 is way too slow up/down. Especially when the rain starts or I get a manned aircraft warning.

Hey, are you in EU? they claim 10km in CE , that interesting how they achieve that as power should be limited in CE. Sure anyone should comply with flight rules and keep the drone at visual distance. But just in theory its interesting stuff, is it marketing bluff or they really improved that somehow.

In June 2023 an Eagle snatched and flew away with my Air2S in Mesa Camp, CA. Somehow he managed to disconnect the battery and my drone turned off. I never found it

Having purchased the Air 2S last year, I think I’ll wait for the Air 3S to come out before considering purchasing a new drone.

1. I believe your comparison is not real as I suspect your Air2s had an ND filter on it. I've seen other comparisons. I switched from the Air 2 to the Sir 2s because I expected more from the Air 3 and this is a ! inch sensor and 4K/120fps, because I edit my video projects with 30fps format! Waiting for the Air 3s or Pro! I already have a lot of surprises with my Air 2!

The air 2s looks great at night when there are a lot of bright lights around it. Even the mini 3 pro looks better in very low light. Think it’s the algorithm more than anything else but it’s not changing for the 2s. If you took the air 2s into time square it would look amazing but when it’s low light without any bright lights. It struggles a bit. Still a great drone. Love mine

I think DJI needs to start considering upgrading plans for their current customers. While I do think the new battery mounting is better, and the flight time is obviously better. I have serious concerns about the air4 or air3s. I currently have 8 Air2s batteries to have a rolling battery system. Given the price of the mavic 3 batteries - to have a similar setup, the batteries would cost more than the drone. There's no clear indication from DJI that they will even use this chassis on their next models. If DJI commits to sticking with one battery chassis (maybe an upgraded battery in the future in the same form factor) then I would start to consider the upgrade.

The Air 2s batteries easily swell up and become bricks forcing you to buy more batteries. The new and better design should keep us from replacing them so often.

@@bobmarkee6859 I agree with you, but who's to say that the Air3S or 4 won't use a new battery design ? What I would like is for DJI to standardize on this battery design, and make it an upgradable component to the next drone in line. Even if the technology improves internally, you can keep the same design so there's compatibility during the lifespan of your batteries

Great comparison, the Air 2S is still a fine drone, but the Air 3 does have some nice upgrades. I think I upgrade eventually. Thanks sharing Mike.

Dont wait to long cause dji likes to shaft people pretty quick throwing up little so called upgrades to make a buck watch for the Air3S or Pro by xmas... Keep your money and just fly. This industry is a mess.

Love the Dji Air 3. but I don't like that it can't be used with Dji rc pro and dji rc. It can only be used with Dji Rc2 and dji n2

It's an easy win for the Mavic 3 in terms of quality but in terms of very noticeable quality in everyday shots, hmmm i would go air3... It has the same 70mm as the Mavic 3 pro.

My problem is the 3 seems really Bulky, that kinda was the point of the air series to be portable at first I know the mini exist but it's not great.

Yes the air3 has a smaller sensor but its not always about the sensor size you have to consider the architecture of the sensor.

You need to mention that those sensors are stacked BSI sensors on Air3

Its a no-brainier. Will be waiting for the Air 3s to come out; it’ll have dual 1 inch sensors no doubt and cruise control

Why didn't you use DLog on the Air2s but used DlogM on the Air3? It's not necessarily increased dynamic range on the Air3 but rather the way it is exposed when using auto settings. I've never seen an Air2S footage so bad... Not a fair comparison, seems almost intentional.

I think as a heavy user its worth replacing the drone every 2 yrs or ao regardless if its a small ugrade. Sell on the old one, find a good deal, youre only down a few hundred bucks. And your bird is new to fly reliably for another 2yrs.

To be honest I'm going to buy the A3...I own several DJI drones and will support them.

As a real estate photographer that does a video every 3 months, its really hard ro find info on the photo quality. This video, like most, gives us abiut a 10second review. Ill find out soon

No way around it. Air 2s has more resolution and you can do more in post with the bigger sensor. Those are just facts. You can spin It any way you want. This is not even an upgrade from the mini 3 pro. Same camera.

These vidoes do not match the other reviews that I have seen. There is not a huge difference in video quiality, however the Air2s comes out on top due to the crunched shadows of the Air 3. It's almost like you have the videos reveersed. But even then the Air 3 video isn't that bad. Your Air 2s video is very contasty with a hard shadow crunch. I know that is not the norm for that drone.

No 20mp camera or 5.4k though. Air3s in 6 months

Are you sure you had the same settings or hopefully used the histogram? Air 2s looks underexposed.

Oh and who really needs a vertical mode when you can simply crop it in post? :P and I never used the 5.4K on my Air 2S

It’s not just cropping though, you actually gain some pixels from top and bottom, check my video :)

5.4 k on small screens like phones does not make sense, however the benefit of shooting in 5.4k and you edit your video later, you will not lose quality while cropping and editing.

To be honest, i don't like the nightmode, i think that the light just explode...

3 is ovesaturated. 3 sees more in the dark, than your eyes. Like the new iphones.

Is it my impression, or is the Air 3's night mode forcing an artificial light that doesn't exist? It's beautiful, but it doesn't look real, I think these lights were real, even the people there wouldn't stand so much light 😆

Of course it's an upgrade.

I actually liked the 2s its night footage better. the Air 3's footage looks fake and the highlights are over exposed.

As a person who believes a bigger sensor gives you a better picture, I think the air2s is superior . I wouldn’t go for the Air3. I think the 3 looks over pixelated and fuzzy. I’ve owned everything from the Phantom 3 to the Inspire Pro and the wow factor increases with the sensor size. The only thing “wrong” with the Air2S is the fixed aperture . I always carry at least 2 batteries when pro shooting so flight time is never an issue. 😊

I gave up on buying drones that require registration and intrusive ID... it is simply not worth the money or risks anymore. Even the Mavic Mini 3 will cost you about $1k and will be obsolete by Christmas season. Save your money and look for better options.

While not a fan of the Remote ID myself, it's integrated in new and some old DJi drones as well. The Mini 3 Pro does not need to comply with the remote ID because it's sub 250g.

Your statement makes some sense until you said look for better options. The mini 3 pro is what you are best with if those are your thoughts. Maybe mini 4 will get a zoom and then that will steal back the spotlight

The other options that I’ve seen are constantly sold out and cost way more than DJI drones.

the AIR should get every version 80g lighter/smaller not bigger!!! ...we startet at 430g with the original AIR. That was a real sweet spot. DJI has no normal Drone between 249g and 720g??? That's a shame

right? I just can't... Air 2s is the one for photography. And it's not even close. Give me all the features in the world, but from the flying camera, I want best camera. Simple as that. Air3 doesn't provide it.

again DJI is making another yet different drone, not perfect but new.. you just have to have them all... ;)

I wonder why do you underexpose air 2s footage? If it's the best result you could get from flat profile on the air 2s unfortunatly it just demonstrate you are uncapable of set up and color grade correctly simple footage.... or maybe you are just DJI sponsored and so this is just a giant disguised ad for this new drone

As a Air 2S owner I’m perfectly CONTENT with my 2S. Don’t get caught up with the latest and greatest 👍🏼
