Real Volvo 850 T-5R drama. You will be amazed by this video. - HOWR

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Prior to me checking out this new purchase, my daughter decided to take the car on a road trip 450 to Niagara Falls Canada. Well, it didn't make it and I had to go rescue it from the side of the road.

    Robert, It’s Chris from Oceanside Oregon. I just watched your on the road rescue of Elizabeth’s borrowed ride and I would like to have you consider adopting me as your son. This shade tree rescue effort left me dazed and amazed. You meet and exceed the “hell of a dad” standard. Congratulations on your diagnosis, good luck, and commando repair work. Proud to know you!

    Hard to believe a "Volvo Mechanic" installed that head. How in the world do you over tighten and destroy a cam sprocket like that! He should be ashamed of himself. I've never seen any like this before. Also shame on that shop that misdiagnosed the spark issue. It's impossible to find good help anymore. You truly are a master mechanic!

    M6 x 1 bolts usually torque to 90 inch pounds for 8.8 , and about a hundred for 10.9 , about 7 and a half, to eight and a half foot lbs. A tiny spot of blue loctite and proper torque hasn't let me down in 30 years. Nice work.

    the bolts weren't over tightened, the were not tightened, you can tell by the wear pattern on the face as they backed out and the gear started to wobble and occulate why they broke before backing all the way out must be from high rpm imbalance once the gear wasn't located on the cam boss.

  • @RobertDIY

    @RobertDIY

    Interesting opinion.

  • @TylersNeighborhoodGarage

    @TylersNeighborhoodGarage

    8 ай бұрын

    I concur. Bolts aren't designed for lateral stresses. When they loosened up, the gear started bouncing against the bolts rotationally, egging out the cam sprocket....then when the last one broke, game over. Things would have been a lot worse had the sprocket and belt fallen completely off. You see what you get from a mechanic that "used" to work at a Volvo dealer.

    The plugs were tight. I put it down to either a faulty injector or bad timing. On the up side I have my new engine running well now! I bought a set of refurbished injectors and it turned out 2 of them were dead! Hopefully have the car back on the road soon!

    It was not rusted, but it had so many problems. It had been extremely abused. Motor was broken, transmission was broken, fuel tank was full of something foreign and gross, fuel system was bad. Suspension and brakes were bad. Dents or damage on all panels. And it sat in the sun for who knows how long. I gave the interior to a friend and kept the wheels. @@kllvturbo
