Did that goon start off by saying.."can I come in" before even introducing himself! Wow..unbelievable, a vulnerable person may have just let them in. Frightening! Great work ChilliJon as always. It shows what cowboys they are.

I got a visit last week. opened the door and we both just stared at each other for over 5 seconds. He did not even speak to me. So politely said no thank you and the door got shut. He posted a letter through the door and that was that. No more picking on women. But i cannot believe he tried to use the silent treatment on me. x

Thanks for all your good work. If we are going to stop the BBC charter being renewed in 2027 it is going to be necessary to have some kind of widespread grassroots movement that brings in the under 30s in particular. Until it becomes politically painful to renew the BBC charter nothing is going to change.

I had to laugh at the first one especially when he said that he couldn’t come in at this time due to what’s going on. Well you have to invite them into your house in the fist place, as they don’t have legal power to enter your house.

Lockdown must have been really frustrating for a tvl inspector. The rich pickings of everyone being indoors, potentially watching live tv, yet there was nothing they could do about it!

Best advice you will get is what this chap has to say here. Tell them nothing, don't engage in conversation at all.

You should do more of these Jon. Second one, absolutely perfect, the best I've seen. The first one was very poorly handled though by the resident. Why get into any dialogue with them at all let alone a long diatribe why you don't need a licence? The more you talk, the greater the chance of you incrimnating yourself.

Top job again mate. Second visit perfectly executed. First one, not so much. Should’ve just closed the door.

I removed their implied right of access and havnt heard anything from tv licencing since, its been about ten years now.

"Firstly, could you step off of my property please? I'll talk to you at the end of my drive" Then shut the door and go about your day.

I've had to stop lining my parrots cage with their threatograms. He keeps falling off his perch laughing.

The second one....ABSOLUTE TEXTBOOK......and exactly the way I did it a month ago.

My past action has been exactly the same as the last guy. Well done to him.

Somebody please find out what those funny devices are for? They keep poking at them....are they recording devices? Personally, even if they weren't TVL, I'd probably shut the door in their face. People with mobiles seem far more interested in bending their heads to a silly device, so if they do, I'd walk away.... because it's a clear sign they're not engaging with ME ! So rude.

I've been getting hammered with letters this year, they said that they will come to mine on the 9th but never even turned up. I was going to get my 75yr old mother to answer whilst i secretly hid and recorded.

If they came to my door. I would just say no thanks bye

I've been getting accusatory letters for ages with threats of turning up at my door. I'm actually very disappointed that they've never followed through with that threat. I'm completely above board with not having a TV licence. Other than a PS4 and DVD player, the only other thing that's connected to my TV is ethernet cable so I can watch Netflix and KZread. No TV receiver whatsoever in my house.

That first guy was an absolute BELL-END!!! This is why you should never engage.

I recieved the English version of the Welsh letter that was shown a few weeks ago, so relieved they will NOT be visiting me before 25 Sept, time to get the camera charged up.

I decided to cancel my license after watching your channel. Had my first goon visit last week! Me- no thanks don't need one. Goon- but you have a satellite dish! Me- take it with you if you like, sky won't collect it. DOOR CLOSED. Not heard anything yet but I expect they'll be back.

If the law says we need tv license to watch tv then why doesn't the tv force us to put our tv license details in to watch tv? These tv license people are crooks.

Actually i found out the best way to deal with these goons is to just not answer the door let them keep coming every other week eventually what happens is they stop coming altogether. If you answer the door or contact them in ANY WAY they will keep coming and coming and coming. The reason not answering the door at all is best is because if you look at that device they write on it records every time they visited the house and OTHER goons can see those messages each time they visit a house and if they see the door is never answered then they dont bother because it wastes too much of their time.

I got another letter asking me if I will be in on the 9th inst, do they really think I will confirm that, in the bin like all others. They are simply door to door sales people and not worth talking to.

A Silvertop friend of mine had a visit from a TV goon/ salesman two weeks ago . He said" I'm a tv licence enforcement inspector" and as quick as a flash my freind said " OH i am so sorry to hear that . i really do hope you get better soon" and the look of bewillderment and and shock on the goons face was a joy to behold ,as he shut the door in his face . my HERO.

Joking aside, if you really want to engage with them (which I wouldn't recommend) then this is the next best way to deal with them. Get them on the back foot from the off and keep them there!

I had a visit from them last week, I didn't record them but I have to say the guy was actually very polite and not pushy in any way. I have watched a lot of these videos and I generally find that the person doing the recording is usually the rude and aggressive one.There is a right way of dealing with people and there is a wrong way and most of these videos show the wrong way to do it.

I’d tend to agree. A lot of the time, it seems the cammer wants to have that moment of hostile confrontation. But it’s just all a bit pointless as these goons will visit 50 address a day; they’re not gonna care for histrionics.

Yesterday I took my dish down today I cancelled my licence. Very strange that when they sell you a licence it's almost instant but when you want to cancel they make you wait a good while! Good things come to those who wait and now I'm free from funding the lies and corruption

They never come on the day they say in the letter. It's bluff to get you to 'act now'. If they do ever visit, they will never tell you when they're coming. It's meant to be a 'surprise'.

the fact of the matter is, the 100% digital medium that is modern tv is very easy to see exactly which households are watching what, tv "inspectors" are nothing but a shakedown racket that serves no legitimate purpose.

its good to see people fighting back loose the fear as they say !!

If you answer the door saying “hello Ive just eaten lots of mushrooms are you from venus” they usually just leave ?

Never, ever volunteer any information at all with these people. Don't feel that you need to explain yourself to them in any way, whatsoever. It's really none of their business what electrical appliances you have in your home, whether they're capable of receiving live television or not. Unless they have definitive proof that you're breaking the law, (which they're not going to be able to get if they're stood on your door step and aren't allowed in), there's nothing they can do about it. Without any evidence, they can't do anything. Telling them stuff like you don't have an aerial or that you don't watch the BBC, as excuses for why you don't need a licence will only prick their interest. Tell them nothing, other than you have no interest in talking to them and end it there with a closed door. The second video being a near perfect example!

Speaking as someone who doesn't own a TV just a PC. I like to have a bit of sport with the goons. The longer I've wasted their time the Less the have to harass others. 😂😂😂

@James Stewart No, as I don't watch or record live TV as broadcast or watch BBC iPlayer.

I'd like to see a video where the goons catch the people outside, i.e. just coming home, in the garden etc. I know of an elderly person that was harrassed that way, the guy waited in a car outside his home for him to appear. It always seems the vids are of people opening the door, which is helpful, but there are other circumstances, an example would be great.

There is a video on this channel of that very thing happening.I don't recall the title of the video. However, Jon gave commentary on how to handle such a situation. It was something along the lines of asking the tv licence inspector to leave your property, thereby revoking their implied right of access,and walking away.

Unfortunately, not having a TV is not enough as you might be accessing I-player on another device. That's a way for them to catch you out.

Interesting point to consider. These people are in the employ of Capita: they have no direct link to the BBC. That being the case, I question why they are attempting to enforce an implied contract (nor an express contract) on the behalf of a third party.

I called them back in 2018 and they never bothered me again or sent any letters. Saved them the journey and waste of paper. A win win

In fairness to the inspector in the first video - he was also polite. He only wrote down what you said as you may change your story next time and they try to catch you out. “I don’t watch Bbc” could be interpreted as “I only watch some broadcast tv”. Hence the mantra - keep quiet!

I get what you're saying about there being no need for a conversation, but sometimes it's just good for a laugh. It wastes their time. And it gives you content. 😉 I'm expecting another visit from them soon. It's been ages and it's definitely overdue. I'll be filming and definitely talking to them for sure. Can't wait.

My 82 year old mum just got her letter this morning saying her tv licence expired last week but she couldn’t take the hassle off these goons so will just pay it again to the bbc to pay all their overpayed presenters etc ….. £159 and never watches the bbc.

I think slamming the door might make them keep coming and or apply for a court order. I just do the two year declaration that I don’t need one. The only issue I find is after the first 12 months they start chasing you to make sure they are up to date etc etc… I did a new declaration rather than respond to their letters and all quiet again.

Sure, if you want to end up with a warrant to check your home go for it. You may well be above board but the more you chat, the more likely you are to give them something they can use to secure a warrant.

@@toshiroyamada2443 They do get warrant's quite regularly, I worked for the Magistrates court and would have a desk full every day. 50% of my work was TV License related, 48% Driving offences. 2% actual crime.

@@thesaltybrit9321 they can't get in with a warrant either. Don't open the door, there is nothing they can do as it's a civil warrant with consent required. No consent, no entry.

I've had letter after letter and have just received the 'you've got 10 days to get correctly licensed'.... so I'm expecting a visit soon lol! I'll video it and send it in!

Excellent advice ! I don't like or watch live anything on BBC. It is all rubbish. Funniest thing is when I divorced well over 10 years ago, my ex-husbands name was on the licence. I phoned to change it to my name but was told he had to write a letter - which he did. The next licence and every licence still had his name on it. ! I tried once again, but yet again it was not changed. So If they try to charge me, due to their inefficiencies his name will be the one responsible !!!

I'm constantly getting the red love letters asking me on a date.. But they keep standing me up!

apparently an investigation has been done and a visit authorised to my home ..... but they still dont know my name! looking forward to it.

I look through my door spy hole, if it's not a friend or a postman then the door stays shut.

They came to my house twice once I moved in 5yrs ago and both times I politely told them to leave my property, and they did just that without any further interaction

the first video, the hand held device if you look has a forward facing camera, are they taking photos or video of the occupants

perceived right of access, need to look in to this, police body worn, do they need permission, bailiffs (civil and county court) do they need permission, ( ID tag cameras )

Ask them to leave your property before you shut the door would be my only change to the method prescribed here that way if they stay they are trespassing and you can call the police.

I'm waiting for a visit myself but happens when you don't expect it I imagine. No thank-you close the door. If I'm not home and a family member was unfortunate to answer I'd be concerned though. But I've told them to close the door to sale's people
