Real Families: Jo Frost and Teen Parenthood

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How would you cope with the trials and tribulations of parenting while still a child yourself? Super nanny Susie Whytock transforms some of Britain’s youngest mums into better parents and happier teenagers. Susie mentors each parent as they tackle everything from tantrum-throwing toddlers to the loss of a maternal bond. Parents include 15-year-old Zoe, who gives her baby biscuits for breakfast, and 17-year-old Ashley, who’s already pregnant with her second child.
Real Families brings you stories of modern day family life from around the world through the eyes of children, parents, and parenting experts.

10 months old, pregnant, smoking, combative, angry, sad, depressed, unmotivated. This lady needs serious psychological support before they start a generational trauma impact. The Profesional blames it on laziness, this is serious depressive state a see. Her kids night even be at risk.

I get that they are kids themselves, I get that being a parent is super tough (I know because I have an 18 month old) but they are being offered professional advice and they just reject it because they don't want people telling them what to do? Don't be a bratty kid, this will benefit both you AND your baby, for crying out loud.

That's the joy of not having a fully developed frontal cortex, a very important part of the brain that doesn't mature until around age 25. I couldn't be told what to do at 15 and I thank God I didn't get pregnant at that age. The very way you think changes so much with age, at least for most people.

@@doramares253 women get the sole responsibility for providing for the baby while the man can break up with her and walk free of his child. Females don't get that option so easily, they get stuck with the diapers, the feeding and usually raising. Men get it so easy because we treat them as incompetent and yet call them future leaders. Watching this hurts. My sister was a young mom. She is now 26 with 4 (3 amazing girls and a sweet boy). I’m working on not being jealous. I’m 36 and cannot have children. And I cherish every moment that we get with them. My sister and her husband don’t work and my mom supports their whole house of 7. All I want these kids to know is they are loved, and I want them to grow up knowing that they can be independent, and don’t need someone to make them feel loved.

Honey if My health wasn’t the way it is, I’d bare a child for you. I hate seeing situations where people have kids and take it for granted and then individuals that can’t have kids and yet they want them more than anything. I know the feeling of having a child young and basically growing up with a child and then to want a child, be prepared etc and struggle to have one. ( I have PCOS and it causes fertility issues) I had my son at 17 without trying and I had my daughter at 30 after years and years of trying

I was 17 when I had my oldest, 19 when I had my second. Nobody had to tell me to change, feed, bathe, or care for my babies in any way. It came naturally to me. I did learn from the elders along the way but they taught me thing's, they didn't have to tell or make me do the obvious. My girls are 15 and 23 no, they didn't become teen moms like me either thank God. My daughter had her first at 20 and I wasn't happy but she was already in her first place, working and I couldn't do anything about it, she was an adult. I still think 20 is too young but she is fine. My other daughter just got her associate in psychology and now working towards her bachelor's and masters degree at the same time. I didn't know u could do that.

I never put a spoon in my baby's mouth. We let her feed herself finger foods once she was ready. At 17 months now, she uses utensils well on her own, which she decided she wanted. Also, why does no one breastfeed? I would imagine the teen moms would appreciate the convenience and lack of expense.

I'm no expert, but I don't believe the girl at 19:10 (Ashley?) Is necessarily just lazy like the counselor believes. I had my first child at 33 and after a long, high risk, horrible pregnancy filled with anxiety, medical problems (even the medication i had been on for a decade stopped working for the duration of my pregnancy) then to top it off my son was born premature, an emergency c-section was needed and I had horrid post partum depression for up to a year after birth. I woke up everyday crying because I was hoping to somehow just die in my sleep. But the way I acted outwards was similar to Ashley, I was argumentive, chain smoking and didn't want to do anything or hear criticism. I even started wishing to be a child or teenager again, just to go back to a time when life was easy, fun and I didn't have a child to worry about. I was extremely still immature at 33, and having a newborn made me feel overwhelmed and scared which is normal even with even new moms who have good experiences with pregnancy and birth. Unlike me Ashley actually IS a teenager so imagine how she likely felt. Personally I think she has post partum depression, combined with her immaturity. Not saying the counselors should coddle her or hold her hand through everything, but I felt her attitude was due to other issues and that should have been addressed. This particular show i believe is from the mid 2000s, so I wonder how she and the other girls are doing now.

What really gets me mad is the daddies not being there, being with underage girls, leaving these girls to deal with it all,and they get to go one with their lives while they get some other young girl pregnant.
