Well, now I've added most of these to my TBR! Been wanting to read Ruth Ozeki and Louise Erdrich especially!

Elif Shafak: I would recommend both 10 minutes & 38 seconds on this Strange World and The Forty Rules of Love. The latter being my favourite and what made me fall in love with her. The island of Missing Trees definitely not the place to Starr.

So good to see your joy! Half the men at the party were wearing floral shirts so Erdrich’s editor didn’t have the only gay shirt there. 😂

The Book of Form and Emptiness was such an interesting reading experience for me- it made me feel emotionally anxious the whole time, and I wanted to stop reading it but I couldn't put it down, and then I loved it. My favorite of the nominees was Sorrow and Bliss, but I'm very happy that this won.

I really love all the books contrasted against the hammock. I don't know why it made me really happy. The Bread The Devil Knead is the only book for sure I want to read. Since the longlist it is the one that has stood out. I think Sorrow and Bliss will also be read. I am more interested in reading A Tale For The Time Being now but not sure I'll ever read The Book of Form and Emptiness.

I really need to start committing myself to reading the Man Booker and Women's Prize Shortlists. But I don't have that kind of stick-to-it-ness. 😩

I now want to read all of the shortlist. I've only read Great Circle. I have read Ruth Ozeki's book A Tale For a Time Being and really enjoyed it so now I need to The Book of Form and Emptiness. Great video as always.

A Tale for the Time Being has very similar vibes to Great Circle. I think you'd like it, and it's Can Lit since it's set between Canada and Japan, Ozeki also lives in Canada.
