@@iangubeli like I said before, life be life-ing! All of my fave BookTubers have taken breaks, long, short, vacation, mental health breaks, whatever. You and Ashlynn do what you need to do to be happy and take care of yourselves. Not only that, but it’s YOUR damn channels, nobody elses. You guys still make me want to start my own channel…maybe after the holidays. Finally, been waiting to chat with ya about this-FINALLY finished “The Stand” last week. And I’ll probably have people making my image into voodoo dollars after this, lol, but I LIKED it, didn’t love it. It had a major plot hole over something for me, and I felt the ending was tied up too fast. Which, as it was the extended version, I’m sure Sai King was like “Please, Lord take the wheel, pen, typewriter,” and was just thrilled to be done with it. I gave the plot three stars, the characters though-10 put of 5! I loved me some Trashy and Tom Cullen lol

The chestnut man by Soren sviestrop is sooo good. Was a 4.5 for me. I listened to the audiobook a few years ago and immediately had to buy the physical copy so that I could keep it forever.

Rock paper scissors was so amazing. Not many thriller can get to me. But it was one of very few of them Also Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney was such a great thriller too. You may get attached to characters which is rare in a thirller book.

So fun to watch your reactions to these books, I have Dark Matter in my TBR and really hope I can squeeze it in soon. As I mentioned in Ash's video when she read Rock, Paper, Scissors, I'd like to recommend you read Daisy Darker also by that author, I had a blast with it 😊

Awesome creepy soundtrack with this one!! I read Rock, Paper, Scissors a couple of months ago, and it kept me reading, but in the end, I still hated all the characters in it. I think there were too many obvious holes and too many twists for me to give it a decent rating. I'm looking forward to reading Dark Matter soon because I've read a lot of his other works and highly recommend his Wayward Pines series. And now I need to check out Hidden Pictures as it sounds like it right up my alley! 😊 Ty!

I enjoyed Dark Matter so much. Weird thing I added it on my tbr and a few days later I found it at the thriftstore. So I had to buy it and read it duh! AND IT GAVE ME NIGHTMARES !

Hidden Pictures has been on my TBR for so long lol, yet I never seem to get to it. As I said on the video where Ashlynn read Dark Matter, I wish I'd heard your summary of it before I read it. I already knew the twist and didn't realize that it was supposed to be a twist until halfway through the book. I think I'd have liked it so much better not knowing, though admittedly spoilers are not usually an issue for me. Love your energy and your videos, definitely subscribing.

I hate it when I know the twist (or guess) it prematurely. I don’t whether it’s just poor writing on the authors part, or my brain just trying to be twenty steps ahead because it thinks it’s smart😂

Just found your channel and binged a few. I’ve agreed with your ratings/comments for the ones I’ve seen so far (LOTR, GOT, Atlas Shrugged, Fahrenheit 451, HP series). Of the three on this video, I’ve only read ‘Hidden Pictures’ and this is the first time I slightly disagree with you. I thought a lot of it was boring and would have rated it a little bit lower. But I do also hate the whole miscommunication thing in books and agree that that side plot wasn’t necessary.

I was on the fence about picking up Dark Matter but you convinced me!

Awesome vlog‼️🎃👻 I am finishing a romance series and a dark romance series and I can’t wait to get back and read Morning Star because romance is not my genre. But I hopefully I will get into one of these thriller books that you have chosen because o have expanded my reading through your recommendations. Also I finished reading Narnia series and it was good I didn’t like the ending but my favourite books of this series are definitely the ones that are also film adaptations and the Magician’s Nephew was amazing and I loved how that shows you how it started 😊‼️ thank you for that recommendation.

Blake Crouch is the shit. You should check out his wayward pines trilogy. Also recursion.

I enjoy reading books too! Although I am not satisfied with the translated editions, I am not proficient enough to read English-edition books on my own. With the help of the web extension Immersive Translate, I can grasp the basic meaning of the passages. I hope I can get closer to these intriguing books.

I need to read more thrillers, it's been an age since I've read any. Bird Box and the sequel Malory by Josh Malerman are quite interesting and I enjoyed them both. Also The Vanishing At Castle Moreau by Jaime Jo Wright kept me on the edge of my seat.

I have not read Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney but I did listen to the audiobook of His and Hers. The book was so good and the two narrators were incredible. The final twist, the murderer, was the last person I suspected. I highly recommend it. I also recommend The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor.

@@iangubeli I checked on the narrators for both books, and they are the same two people - Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine. Not sure if you are aware, but Richard is also an actor and played Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit films produced by Peter Jackson. Anyway, hope you enjoy His and Hers when you get a chance to check it out. 😊❤️

This is an odd rec, but since you like horror and you've tried branching out to YA before, have you tried THE GIRL FROM THE WELL by Rin Chupeco? It's a very good YA horror ghost story type book. I like it a lot.

I couldn't stand Rock Paper Scissors. A common theme with psych thriller writers is the hint at the supernatural and there never actually is anything supernatural going on at all. At least Hidden Pictures owned the supernatural element and went with it. I love Blake Crouch, you should read ALL his books (except Upgrade maybe). Like Wayward Pines was WILD

You are braver then I would ever be.

Dark Matter is my favorite Crouch book, it is intense & has a little science but not too much His other books are similar but get to be a little heavier on the science talk (Forgot I have not read Wayward Pines series yet)

I have wanted to read Wayward Pines for a long time! He does seem (on the surface) that he is a man in STEM. His books just give that feeling off.

If you haven’t read pretty girls by Karin slaughter got me into thrillers now I’m hooked highly recommend really great book very action packed also I own a copy of hidden pictures loved that book too such a fun read

I knew it! I knew we were best friends... Thanks for confirming in the beginning of the video. I just thought maybe I was being a bit stalkerish but I guess we really are beaties. 😂 So I started reading again the start of Jan. 2022. Rock Paper Scissors was my first 5 star read that year which was in May... I read 52 books that year so it took a bit to get my 1st 5 star. Well anyways I only know that from going back and seeing what I gave this book because I have zero recollection of it now. Lol I'm not a fan of rereads because there are so many books I haven't read yet but I may see if I can get the audio to this and listen to it while I work... Audios aren't reading... remember. Lol so for me technically it wont be a reread. Lol I think the sad point here is it's only been 1.5 years and I don't remember a great book. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. 😢 So I read Dracula by Bram Stoker which was amazing... I read The Ruins by Scott Smith which was good. I saw the movie so kind of ruined it for me. No pun intended. I'm finishing Ghost Story by Peter Straubs today (really good) and The Terror (pretty good so for) by Dan Simmons should be finished sometime this week. That will wrap up my spooky season reads. Pretty good month not many books but 3 of them were chunckers for my reading speed. All that to say The Pariah and Jade City are on deck and I will let you know what I thought... Why? Not because I have no life and live in this fantasy world where you really care but because we are best friends and I know you really wanna know my take on them. Sounds like you had a great October reading! Full of good spooky books. I need to check some of those out! I have only read Dracula. I am trying to expand my horror repertoire. @@iangubeli No need to apologize. We are all busy with life and completely understand. Been struggling to stay awake when I read lately so I'm taking forever to get thru The Pariah. I am really enjoying it and I love all the possible things to come in the other books. I'd say Im about 70ish percent thru so hopefully I'll have it finished in the next night or two. Still have Jade City to read after that. Ahhh oh and 70% thru The Terror... So still have that to finish as well... Ugh... After these 3 books I'm going to take a break from the chunkers. Maybe a nice 250 page western or cozy mystery. 😂 Ok done rambling. Take care my friend.

It’s definitely a good cross between horror and thriller. It’s just very suspenseful, I’ll put it that way!!
