Well that actually kinda happened to college students in their tiny dorm rooms and in debt on top of that so they can just afford cup noodles. Or people in very very very tiny bathroom sized hong kong apartments because housing there are expensive. Definitely not ideal tho. At least humans can still walk out of it

The things about parents not letting their children have bigger hamster enclosures make me so sad. I’m planning on fostering a hamster soon and I told my mom that if I can’t make a 1000 sq inch cage for him/her then she might as well just not let me own a hamster since I’m not willing to put one in a smaller tank 🤷‍♀️

And if I’m making it I don’t really see the use in not making it huge! Especially since I don’t know the type/gender of my hamster to be fostered, so if I get some sort of “diva” (haha) female Syrian I wanna be prepared y’know? I hope your hammy loves their new spacious home

My mom thinks that my hamster doesn’t need 6 inches of bedding so I try and put in as much as I possibly can without her knowing and I put 7 inches in the very back of her cage without her knowing and now she’s burrowing and I think that it’s actually pretty happy that she’s finally borrowing for the first time. (Sorry bad spelling)

i had a syerian hamster a year ago he was so adorable🤩 i miss him every day he had such a good life and its all because i made sure i watched videos and talked to vets but your great and sooo very helpful thank you so much!!

i love how you are so calm and you care for these lovely animals

my hamster would still be in a critter trail, with an unbalanced diet, and very few chew toys if it weren't for this wonderful lady

When that person said "I'm ten and I love my hamster" IT TRIGGERED ME because when I was ten my hamster was in a large cage, lots of bedding, and all around proper care. AGE IS NOT AN EXCUSE

my cage wasn’t the best when I was younger but with my last 2 hamsters I’ve had a cage above the minimum and have upgraded for my newest hamster to an ikea detolf! I get you can make mistakes, but that’s not a reason to refuse to listen to advice!

I had two hamsters when I was younger and they were both in a tiny cage with barely any bedding(it was dangerous too). If someone had told me that wasn’t suitable I would’ve done everything I could to change it but i didn’t know. I still feel really bad for them.

My hamster started out with a bad cage, wheel and bedding but I found this channel and managed to convince my parents to change it

Honestly I am so grateful for all the knowledge you’ve given me. I just got my first hamster at age 26 and went from thinking they were an easy pet that would take up a tiny amount of space, to learning that they require A LOT of care. I’m just so appreciative that because of you I got to start my hamster mum journey correctly and now have a happy hamster living his best life 😊❤️

don't get a pet if you cannot afford the proper cage setup, its enrichment, and food e.t.c people don't impulsively get kids and then mourn about how poor they are and how they can't afford stuff for them A pet is a choice, ''If you can't afford a good, happy life for it, don't get a pet''

My mom thought that hamsters were just small simple animals.I did so much research and most of it was from you and I gave my mom and dad almost a 20 minute speach about hamsters.I now have a winter white hamster named Bean and she is living a happy healthy life.Thank you so much.

I'm now grateful that my parents let me get the proper enclosure for my hamster. They did comment that why does a hamster need so much things, but they still let me buy all the things (sand bath, big/safe hamster wheel, hideouts) that a hamster needs in order to be happy.

I love your videos! I literally watch them every morning. I realized how small my robo’s hamster rlly was..we are getting the IKEA detolf in a week and my parents have a whole new perspective of how much care hamsters rlly need after sitting and watching your videos with me! You are my favorite creator and pls never stop! :))))

I want to thank you so much. Your getting through a hamsters death video has really helped me. He died today in my arms. You helped me so much and you don’t deserve any hate. Anyone who can make the worst day of my life a little bit better deserves the world.

I work at a big chain pet store and a lot of people complain when I try to explain proper care for any of the animals that we carry you wouldn’t believe some of the things we hear! Just yesterday someone said “well we’ve always had hamsters in that size cage and they were fine.” Why even come up to me with questions if you aren’t going to take the advice thank you for teaching me how to properly care for my robo ham! I adopted with a bad eye and now he’s all better and living his best life!

I think your videos are really nice! And you seem like a really nice person and you don’t deserve the hate. Your videos are helping me a lot preparing for my future hamster! I love your videos!

I first showed your channel to my mom about a week ago when I got my second hammie and now she’s always marking mini meals for him and playing with him and getting him toys… thank you 😊

If my mom yelled at me for trying to give my hamster a better cage/life and for them to be happy and then threatened me to give it away- I would say ‘fine give her/him away. Just make sure the hamster has a better life than it did here :)’

As a parent and a hamster owner, I was so happy when you added the rest of the comment that the mom changed her mind! You are exactly right that parents should be happy that their child cares about another living being and wants to care for the animal properly, and the parent should reward and encourage that behavior. And, I'm sorry for the nasty comments you get sometimes. Hopefully you get a lot more positive comments than negative!

She's doing a perfect job. Pet shops aren't 100% accurate and most of the of the toys and cages are too small and not safe. You can look all this information on the internet, the legal minimum is 80cm by 50cm and you need to take care of hamsters deemed by the RSPCA, Woodgreen animal sanctuary and PACT. look it up before you insult someone.

Hi! I love you videos! You teach me something new about hamsters every day!❤ some of those comments were just rude. My hamster was originally in a really small cage and after I watched you basic hamster care video it helped me so much! My hamster now has a bigger cage and lots of bedding and lots of toys and I still upgrade almost every day! Thank you so much!! Love you!!!❤❤

as a dog groomer, parents getting their kids pets and then shirking responsibility for their care makes me see red. the number of dogs that I've seen come in PELTED with the parent blaming it on the kids for not brushing is disgusting. a few weeks ago I showed somebody how to brush so that they could maintain the dog at home after I shaved off the severe matting, and the mother literally said to the two very young kids she had with her, "make sure you watch, cause this is your job at home". I looked her in the eye and said "ultimately this is your responsibility because you are the parent" and she hastily said "oh, okay". another family came in for pickup and saw their dog's pelt sitting on the shelf, and the parent said to the like 8 year old kid "that's from your dog" and laughed. no dude, that is from YOUR DOG because YOU are the parent, and by the way it's abuse and is not remotely funny I fully support giving kids responsibility when it comes to their pets. I think it's great for fostering a sense of responsibility and accountability, and establishing routines for kids, things like that. but it's the parents' responsibility to 1) delegate appropriately manageable tasks to kids, 2) ensure that they follow through with those tasks, and 3) make sure to do it themselves if the kids don't do it. it's beyond me how anybody could think otherwise

@@lilyjones4289 I mean it's not the kids' fault. you cannot expect an 11 year old to care for an animal's needs, plain and simple. it's the parents' fault for getting pets for their kids (or allowing their kids to get pets) and not taking care of them

@@inbuttsmeeting but you can. I'm 12 and for the past 2 years I have worked for money for my hamster. And ended up spending over 2k. 10 years is old enough. Have you even met a ten year old😬tye boys act like rich old men and the girls are...umm...unique. But my point is that you absolutely CAN expect an 11 year old to care for a hamster. Maybe not pay ALL the expenses like I did but some at least.

@@inbuttsmeeting and it can be the kids fault. They think an animal is cute and ask for it with no knowledge on it at all. And the stupid parents buy it and improper supplies. Then the kid os too lazy to clean it and the parent said it is their responsibility so they dont either. Hamster gets neglected or sold to another horrible child and parent. U should never get an animal for an irresponsible child because at 9, 10, 11+ you are DEFINITELY old enough to have spent time researching and putting effort into helping the animal. And are old enough for the responsibility but most kids are just too lazy or uneducated to care.

@@lilyjones4289 no, you cannot expect an 11 year old to care for an animal's needs. it is 100% the adult's responsibility to ensure the animal is cared for. this does not mean 11 year olds are incapable of taking care of an animal, it just means they cannot be expected to do so for one thing, children that age cannot be expected to have the critical thinking skills to parse through research and know what's good information and what isn't. I'm glad you've been able to care for your animals and find good info, but that's you. another thing is that while some kids can be trusted to remember to manage basic care, it is still the parents' responsibility to ensure nothing is getting forgotten. and last, not all kids are capable of caring for animals and that doesn't make them stupid. it is absolutely never ever a child's fault if their pet is neglected - it is always the responsibility of the adult who brought the animal into the home.

Lol These people saying not everyone can afford big cages and they make the small cages for poor people. Crittertrails and the like are soo expensive. You could literally buy three appropriately sized bin cages for the cost of one 🤦🏼‍♀️

honestly! and they're super fragile! I bought a $30 critter trail to use as a travel cage, broke it the third time I attempted to clean it 🙃 I've made four bin cages for less than $30 a piece lmao
