To anyone who comes across this video who is a fan of Slick Slime Sam. This is *not* a hate video, I do not hate their channel. I think their Craft, DIY and Science videos are wonderful for kids to watch and try. I'm disappointed by the channel because of their lack of misinformation they're spreading to millions, animals require special care which Slick Slime Sam could very well help educate millions on the proper care but they've done the opposite unfortunately and that needs to be talked about.

I had a cousin who had rats (or mice, I dont remember), and it was the size of a large shelf and it was also tall. She had a couple, so they were social and had toys. This was just way too small for the rat.

Working K9luna as an owner of two males I guess it depends on gender because I tried a wheel but they never used it and perfered to climb on bridges and in their hammocks or generally play with me

It’s insanely sad that videos like the one by Slick Slime Sam get millions of views while educational videos that promote proper care don’t get nearly as many. This channel is underrated.

Ikr I dont own hamsters so I guess seeing the hamsters in those cages didn't affect me on a personal level as much (of course it's still horrible) but I have 2 rats and omg when I saw that cage, there's nothing in it except food and water, no bedding or toys or even a wheel or a hide, and it's way too tiny for tater tot AND there's only one rat and they're social so rats really need to be in groups of at least 2 or more

My daughter will be turning 6 in a couple weeks and has been begging for a hamster for the past TWO years. This is largely because she is such a fan of Slick Slime Sam. The whole reason I'm here right now is because I've been researching how to properly care for hamsters. I'm so glad I found your channel before committing to our first hamster. If my daughter is going to get a hamster for her birthday she is going to learn the proper way to care for one! Thanks so much for all your informative videos!

Thank you for doing that. I wish my parents did this for me when I got my first hamster because over 10 years later I still feel bad about how terribly my hamster was cared for. We just did what the pet store told us to and didn’t know that we could do our own research. I’ll carry that guilt for the rest of my life and it’s great your kids won’t have to deal with that.

I know this is a bit late, but I think there's no saving grace for that channel, it's owned by the same company or publisher, that also did 5-Minutes Craft, so poor Hamsters and Rats. They wouldn't really care either way, regardless of whoever spoke up, unless it's the authority.

Even my HAND would be to big for that wheel!

When we first got our super cute angora hamster, Pet Smart recommended we get a little cage with a lot of tubes. We didn't know any better until we found your channel. Poor Hammie was always squished in the tunnel and bitting the bars of the cage. She got scabs around her mouth. We quickly got rid of that cage and bought her a big spacious one with only 2 levels which she loves. She is really relaxed, happy and healthy. We (me, little Hammie and the 3 kids) cannot thank you enough for your educational videos.

I found my daughter watching this channel and questioned it, having a hamster and thanks to you knowing how to care for her properly. It's weird with cats and dogs they treat em more as pets but with hamsters some people treat them like toys...

Victoria Raechel i hate people like that! What should we do if friends (esp parents) don’t want to listen to advice... my mom always tells me to let things go but when I see animal mistreatment I speak up. Very few people take it well :( this might be a great topic to discuss in depth unless the only thing we really can do is let it go 😭

That first rat cage is literally the size carrier I had to take my gerbils to the vets

My parents got me a hamster when i was nine... i had no clue what i was doing. Two years later i got another, had a bit of a clue but wasnt allowed to change things. Im now 14, my hamster artemis is living in the largest ikea pax with a more natural set up and lots of deep bedding and what i believe is a good diet. Im really sad i didnt have that information before but im glad that artemis can have a good life!

Now this is just making me upset look, I'm ten and when i was seven my parents told me i could have a hamster when I'm ten, i was currently watching little kid channels that were cruel to hamsters and other small animals so i started my research right on the spot now my hamster cooper is very happy and all my research payed off but it upsets me how parents tell little kids they they're not gonna do anything for the hamster and they'd have to do it themselves.Most would start counting down the days till they get one without research but a few would look at any video with the title hamster in it and believe what ever it says so this stupid slick slime thing could have a big impact on a poor little hamsters life.And that rat cage shocked me. this might be the longest comment here lol!

It may be long but it’s factual, I’m glad someone younger than most people here how’s a lot, nOw I used to have two hamsters, and I feeel so sorry and wish I could apologize to them, but they died shortly after we got them.. they had a pretty small cage, we loved them and let them free roam lots but they just...ughh.. I was so young as well as my family and we didn’t do research...I am older now and want more hammies (I’ve done lots of research of lots of animals I wanted) so I know now what to do, and they are so cute 💜

for a ten year old, you're smart, too. i used to own rats, and hamsters as a kid, and now i only have one old hamster that i got from my cousin who decided to neglect it after it bit her for what she did to it. i know how to take care of hamsters, but tbh, i'm here because i just want to look at the horrible care people consider for THEIR hamsters

Same with me! Except I really want a Ferret, I'm still doing my research as the days go by. I hope my parents come to an agreement where they could get me one, some people just buy pets without research, or do it without thinking all the responsibilities thinking they can handle it. And yes your comment is long but it's very informative, so thank you for that! Hope you're happy with your hamster and that you can treat them with all the care you can. I also hope I could get a Ferret, without my mom thinking they look like possums.. anyway I'll try to help her get rid of that image and good day to you (or night, wherever you live)

Connecting cages creates broken floor space which doesn’t benefit the hamster much and can be stressful

This is so sad. I know nothing about hamster care, but I do know the care in her turtle video was equally as bad.

Something not pointed out is, the slime thing says; the hamsters are out of the cage! And the lady says; I let them out He says; Aren’t you scared they’ll escape??? She goes; They’ll be fine! Don’t worry! Ahem...if you let a hamster free where nobody’s paying attention to them they’re bound to escape, get injured, or even die smh-

Sarah Brown Yes in the video there is. My point mainly was that they’re influencing children, and if a kid thinks they can let their hamster roam free, that isn’t a good thing to teach children..

I totally agree animals are not toys but living beings that need love and care

The hamster and tater tot caring is making me crazy like make me wanna mad at them

When I got my hamster my dad said to buy that cage that it was fine but I told him it actually isn’t so I got a better cage

I don’t have a hamster but if or when I do, and have the bin or fish cage/tank for the hamster, can I also buy the small cages (that pet smart have) when I am cleaning him/or her home?

my dad had that cage for a rat. i knew it was to small when i saw it. that was 20 years ago. now we use that cage for a travel cage for a g pig. we only had to use it once cus we spend the summer with are mom. we are working on getting her another g pig. but covid has messed stuff up fr.
