    We met a young woman at Kennywood last year that had 3 kids with her, the oldest being about 5 yrs old. The little girl asked me if I liked Little Phantom and I told her I haven't been on it because I'm too scared. She said "I'll ride it with you. You won't be scared". Her mother & my wife agreed it would be "cute". That's how I got my Little Phantom credit. And ironically it has more room than most adult coasters.

    In fairness to the cutting wires question, I think they are referring to traveling carnivals where wires powering the rides are clumped together, and then go across the midway to reach power sources, covered by those black step ramp things so that people don't trip on them. Those are totally accessible to the public.

    Ok, if I'm going to take the question about coasters being used for transit WAY too seriously, the problem is capacity. Take the standard 6 car RMC train for example. It's a pretty average roller coaster train. 12 meters long, 24 seats. Well, a standard solo bus is also about 12 meters long but it has 31 seats with standing space for an additional 30 people. 61 passengers. And that's the lowest-capacity type of transit. Let's look at rail-based transit. An average tram in my city is over 27 meters long with room for 157 passengers. And then there's the metro. 6 car trains just like the RMC but the train is 115 meters long and can fit 912 people. 252 of them get a seat. So there are over 10 times more seats and space for another 660 standing passengers. No roller coaster could ever hope to compete with that. Not even the huge 9 car B&M Hyper trains with their mere 36 seats. And let's not forget dispatch procedures. On a roller coaster train, you need to pull down and check restrains, not everyone might fit in the seats, etc. Most parks take around a minute to dispatch a train. On a metro train you just close the doors and go. Trains are only stopped for about 20 seconds before they start moving again. HOWEVER: I would still be so down for some actual roller coaster transit. Screw efficiency, it would be so much fun!

    Some years back there was a video containing a doctored shot (which was also the thumbnail) of a coaster with a loop that had a gap in it, and it was extremely effective KZread clickbait. I recall hearing that back in the 1920s or so there was an entrepreneur at Coney Island who tried to build a roller coaster that jumped a gap, but he never actually completed it, probably for the best.

    1:08 Tyler seems stoned. As for the wires, the person who wrote the question is asking about the black insulated cables laying on the ground. Those cable go from the generator to the rides. Cutting into one of those cables will likely electrocute the person holding the knife. Electrocution, a 10,000 degree F arc flash, molten metal splattering in your face, etc.

  • @Tacoaloto
    @Tacoaloto2 жыл бұрын

    3:21 Reviving my ride idea, we take top thrill dragster, re-profile it into a transit ride. Launch 120 MPH 420 feet in the air, then instead of returning to the station, you go to the 2nd station in the back of Frontier town. Then new passengers board it, go 120 mph up 420 feet in the air, and end up at Dragster's original station. Call it, Top thrill transport.

  • @Hangtime_Davi64
    @Hangtime_Davi64 Жыл бұрын

    The question about wires is probably referring to pop-up fairs where they do tend to have cables fed through cable-runners across pathways. I imagine if you cut them you would go to jail.

    "Maybe when people get too old for rollercoasters" A returning visitor to my local themepark is an 80+ years old woman, who goes on all the rides the park has, sometimes 20-30 times in a row. That includes an invert multilooper and a launched eurofighter. She's been on both rides more than 1000 times. I am aware that this is uncommon, but it gives me hope.

    I'm sure every enthusiast has considered the roller coaster public transport at least once. Whenever I do, its a blue vekoma with LSMs and obnoxious OTSRs. Not sure why

    I can honestly say I've never had my period because of a ride. I'm also a guy, but you know how that goes these days. I rode the fun house coaster at SFOG and was over 30. 🤣 Kanye and Kim, the turbulent ride from the dark side. Disney has a mouse, cedar point has a Rougerou. Infants are great drag them along to ruin your fun.

    Lol so there isn’t a bus to Cedar Point and you can’t walk there since they prohibit pedestrians on the causeway. HOWEVER, that may change in the future, since Sandusky and Cedar Point have talked about causeway improvements that include a pedestrian/cycling trail!

    Doesn't RCT 2 have a park challenge where you only build rollercoasters and the park comes with a rollercoaster that has four different stations and it works as transport around the park? IRL....anything is possible. LOL

    Dumb questions are funny but dumb answers are better. Me emailing someone recently to buy a used wardrobe: Q: “Hi - what are the dimensions of this? Just checking it can fit in my house. Thanks.” A: “Hi! It’s tall and wide-ish. Thanks.” …..
