    Good news - it seems they are starting to sell the diaphragm separately in case it needs to be replaced. Search for "Membrane Valve Cover Diaphragm For BMW B58 11127645173 repair kit" on ebay or similar sites.

    After I got a built engine. I started getting smoke on startups if the car sits from more than 5 mins then smoke clears. No smoke on acceleration on idling. It was the pcv basically the 32 psi with the bigger ring gap and extra tolerance built into the forged pistons overwhelmed the pcv system. All we could do was install the pcv delete and it worked like a charm.

    Just replaced a PCV Diagphram on my Sons VW 2.0 TSI (similar solution to the issue). His rubber diaphragm was cracked as shown in your video and the car would drop in idle and stumble around ... no smoke at all however. I don't think the OCC along with the PCV is really a complicating problem. One that works well will collect a fair amount of oil that doesn't need to be deposited all over the internals of the intake manifold and valves over time. It is another maintenance item however and if you forget to drain and it fills to the top it can suck in excess oil!

    The vader kit is better. I would not recommend the vargas breather without the vader kit, and vader solutions sells their own breather as well. So really you can get it all from VS. However, it's not needed for most people. Unless you suspect there's an issue with your pcv, save your money.

    Hi there, I recently had a pcv diaphragm fail on me causing it smoke. I got it fixed but the guy that changed it removed the entire valve cover saying it was integrated with the pcv. I know removing it you have to remove the ignition coils and HPFP, and fuel injectors. it ran for 2 days then I got a misfire in my 6th cylinder. I changes The coil and spark plug and no misfire but then the turbo wasn’t spooling loud how it’s supposed to. went to a shop to get the check engine light turned off so I thought maybe that was the issue for the turbo not spooling how it should but then it misfired again in the 6th cylinder. Do you think the fuel injector is the problem for the misfit and the turbo not function as it should? Would like a response back thanks!

    B58 leader please help once again my man, I saw a forum post that you replied too of a guy that had the PVC problem and replaced the whole valve cover since it’s built in. I saw that he had the same symptoms I had which was after 20-30 mins it will suddenly rough idle & the tea kettle whistling noise. Do you think if I just replace the PVC diaphragm and seal it would it fix it or do you have to replace the whole valve cover? The only thing that is making me think to replace the whole valve cover is that the people with PVC issues that would just replace the diaphragm had ether the kettle noise or white smoke but NO rough idle shaking? .. would the PVC diaphragm failing cause only the kettle whistle & NOT the rough idle shaking or would that shaking be due to the valve cover? TL;DR Rough idle shaking and tea kettle whistle after 20-30 mins of parked idle. Replace whole valve cover (fixes the rough idle shaking & kettle whistle after 30 min idle) OR replace PVC diaphragm (fixes the kettle whistle after 30 mins but possibly will not fix the shaking rough idle)

  • @Domas64

    PCV works only on light load. It blocks ventilation under boost where intake would pressurize crank case or under idle where vacuum is too great and would pull too much vapor. Idling puts stress on pcv valve/diaphragm as it has to hold all that vacuum. Over long time it probably gets overwhelmed, allowing idle vaccum to suck vapor into combustion instead of just venting. That causes poor running and smoking. Giving it a good rev once in a while while idling should give a chance for pcv valve to recover. Issue is probably happening with older PCVs, replacing them more often would prob reduce the issue somewhat. But still it's a design flaw. Car should idle for a month without an issue

  • @harbl2479

    @harbl2479

    Жыл бұрын

    Stop perpetuating this silly myth about idling in some way being the cause of this issue. The only reason people think that is because a damaged pcv is most likely to be noticed at idle. I recently had my pcv fail and I inspected the pcv valve's operation during engine running when I did the repair. You can look at the valve operating with the cap removed and you can depress it with your finger. The spring and plastic piece (for anyone who doesn't understand what I mean, look at kern417's pcv replacement video for clarification) take up the forces involved and the rubber diaphragm's sole job is to provide an airtight seal and is not "stressed" or "stretched" in any way during idling. The reason it ruptures is due to poor material quality and age. When that happens, excessive vacuum will build up in the crankcase because the valve can no longer work. So please everyone, idle your b58 equipped car without any worries and make sure to replace the diaphragm as regular maintenance every 2-3 years :) It's a cheap part and takes 5 minutes to do.

  • @Domas64

    @Domas64

    Жыл бұрын

    @@harbl2479 I was just brainstorming. I'm not aware of how it works exactly on b58, but on other cars PCV valve is holding the boost or vacuum of the engine so it is under stress. Maybe it's not much stress on b58 as you say, but probably enough to rupture and old diaphragm. So I agree on being on top of it and changing it before it fails.

  • @harbl2479

    @harbl2479

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Domas64 It's good that you are brainstorming. But you don't understand the system. It is a valve with a spring that simply regulates pressure inside the engine and keeps the crankcase in a slight vacuum as intended by the manufacturer. If there is too much vacuum, it will close the vacuum feed and if there is not enough, it will allow more gasses to escape thus keeping the optimal level, which is determined by the spring. It never sees excessive vacuum or any boost at all. Once it ruptures from old age, it will no longer control the pressure (because the spring will never compress enough to seal the vacuum feed) which will result in excessive negative pressure in the crankcase.

  • @harbl2479

    @harbl2479

    Жыл бұрын

    Your mental model of it "holding back" boost or vacuum is wrong. Also the deflection from fully open to fully closed of the diaphragm is minimal (a few milimeters) and does not stretch the rubber. All of this can be verified by anyone by opening the pcv cap while the engine is running in the hopes of finally putting this myth to rest.

    What’s up man, I was driving my car home from work and like at random times, white smoke would come out of the exhaust while driving and I have no clue what it could be. Some times there would be a lot of white smoke coming out. Do you know what it could possibly be?

    @@xcashinx7370 you can do port fuel injection or port meth Injection. Port fuel injection isn't needed with the pure800, but you won't make 600 on 93 octane. You'll need meth, whether it's injected in the charge pipe or port Injection. Port is more ideal but port meth Injection is hard to setup.

    What about adding a breather to the PCV port and blocking the turbo inlet PCV connection? I did that to my 2020 Supra running a Pure800.. Followed what most top frame turbo upgrade kits did..

    The Vader kit does that in a sense. It adds a dump tube to the pcv port so you don't need to route it back to the intake. Sorry I missed that in the video.

    @kern417 thank you so much for this video. Maybe you can give some insight. I have a creaking noise coming from the "membrane" or whatever is inside the ventilation 2-3 seconds after I turn off my engine. As heard here kzread.infoZMgZ7TqSPjs?feature=share car has no codes and runs fine. I was told I would need to replace the whole cover to get rid of the noise. I'm wondering is this really a worry right now? I've taken out the hose and have minimal oil residue, I would say "normal". So I'm not sure if there is an easy fix. Thanks!
