Every time I see this I just can't get over it. Most bands today don't sound this good in their high-priced studios! This was live. The crowd knew all the words to each song. What an exciting prefomance . History was made this day, and Queen punched a hole in the sky. Love Freddie and Queen forever💕💕💕💕💕

What makes Freddie's performance even more impressive is the fact that he was diagnosed with laryngitis the week before Live Aid. His doctor recommended that he skip the performance but he ignored the suggestion and went on to make history.

Has 20 minutes ever gone so quick and left you buzzing like that? Epic!! They practiced for a week for their alloted 20 minutes and went over by 20 seconds! A 16 hour concert, with the biggest bands/acts of the day, and Queen nailed it, and stole the show! And poor David Bowie had to follow that! Loved you jamming along. Great reaction! Thank you 👏👏👏

I was a teenager and remember I watched LIVE AID on my small tv in my room... all of a sudden Queen were on stage and.... that was fire! I can't recall any other artists perform that day. They stole it! After so many years this is one of my most precious youth memories

This entire set is iconic. Queen was so smart to pick songs that the audience knew so that they could interact with the band, something that the other bands did not do. Queen was used to playing to large stadium crowds which most of the other groups weren't used to either. Queen smashed this performance and left the crowd wanting more instead of just waiting for the next band, which incidentally was David Bowie who is one of the few performers who could actually hold his own following Queen. Nobody expected Queen to shine because they would not have all their costumes, smoke and lights...but as Brian had said before the show "It really does come down to the music, doesn't it."

Queen performing at Live Aid is quite a show. They are just so good. I've watched it so much but it never gets old; it still amazes me. Freddie just knew how draw the crowd to him. He's so fun to watch and better to listen to. The whole band just played together so well. Gotta love Queen. As usual, great reaction. Keep on keeping it real. 🌞🌞😊😊🌹🌹🌹💜💙

Freddie performed with a throat infection against doctors orders at live aid this was the best 20 minutes of the whole show. There's also another song that was done later that night that was just Freddie and Brian it's called Is this the world we created that's quite nice and unfortunately many people never see it. What an amazing concert this was to raise money for starving people in Africa.

Their set lasted 21 minutes and consisted of : 1. "Bohemian Rhapsody" (ballad section and guitar solo) 2. "Radio Ga Ga (a slightly faster version than the studio recording), 3. Freddie's call and answer crowd singalong, 4. "Hammer to Fall", 5. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", 6. "We Will Rock You" (1st verse only), 7. "We Are the Champions". Freddie and Brian returned later, near the finale, to perform "Is This the World We Created?"

Twenty minutes was nothing for Queen! Their concerts regularly lasted 2 hours, with few breaks, maybe 15 minutes when Brian did a long guitar solo. They were also used to playing for huge crowds, had just recently been in South America where they played to football stadiums with 250,000 in the audience. Few other bands had that experience. Freddie knew how to work large crowds and Queen had plenty of volume and a great sound system. At Live Aid they had a crew member turn up the volume a bit louder. Great reaction, Scrub!

Great reaction! That’s John Deacon on Bass guitar. He wrote, “Another One Bites the Dust” and, “ You’re My Best Friend” among other great songs. He also invented an amplifier for Brian, dubbed, “The Deaky Amp.” Brian’s guitar was handmade when he was a teenager, by him and his dad, from pieces of fireplace mantle, mom’s pearl buttons and pieces of knitting needles. Roger Taylor on drums contributed the high backing notes with his voice, that was his ultra high, “Galileo” on Bohemian Rhapsody. Freddie called Roger’s ability to hit those notes, a dog whistle. He wrote “Radio Ga-Ga” and “These were the days of Our Lives.” Keep going down the Queen rabbit hole. Try, “39” by Brian about how space travel can affect time. “The Miracle” will blow you away. Very surprising and entertaining. Good job, mate!

Was the call and response part new to you? They did it at many of their concerts. Freddie was having some trouble with his voice and was advised by his doctor not to perform that day. Freddie turned his butt to the audience after one of his songs. I've never heard Freddie say what that meant, so it may have had different meanings to him, but many say it was his ongoing comment to Queens ex-manager for whom his famous dis song Death on Two Legs was written. One line of that song says, "...you can kiss my ass good bye". BTW you should do that song, lots of energy and venom and, to me, very funny. Anyway it seems this gesture was Freddie saying, "I'll bet you regret treating us so badly now, too bad, eat your heart out and take THIS.

When you considered that Freddie having laryngitis on the day of this concert and he was not feeling well, imagine if he'd been fully fit. David Bowie was on after Queen and as they passed each other backstage Bowie said to Mercury "you ba***rds how the hell are we supposed to follow that", Queen produced one of the all-time iconic live sets of any concert before or since.

Queen fantastic, again! And, your reaction great! (Did you know each song was written by one of the Queen 'boys'?) Brian and his guitar riffs which seemingly Freddie had choreographed moves; Roger's never hesitating drums and significant vocal back-up to Freddie; Deaky, i.e., John Deacon, redhead on the Bass...constant bouncing around to the beat! Queen a perfect team. Thanks oodles.

Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer to Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You, and We are the Champions. Did I miss any? Band members: Drummer-Roger Taylor, Bass-John Deacon, Lead guitar- Brian May, Lead vocals and piano-Freddie Mercury, previously Farrokh Bulsara (a hat tip to his parents and family). They all played more than one instrument, the ones I named are the ones each is most associated with.

@@yvonnewakefield7748 That too! Lol. I picked the name because of the line from that song and the fact that I'm a knitter who, like all knitters, has to unravel sometimes, so I'm fast at it. In a comment I made on a political thread someone jumped on my name as a comment about the state of our country. I had to straighten them out. 😁
