That's Paula Cole. Sinead O’Connor dropped out and she got the call, packed a bag and arrived in time for one rehearsal before the tour started. She made her name on this tour and never looked back. Well deserved.

In Your Eyes, was the very last song at Woodstock 94. Peter Gabriel took the stage at around 3am Monday morning. We had been building on site for a month, I had maybe 2 hrs sleep since Friday morning. The rain Saturday afternoon, kept me in the Stage Left Tower of the Main ( North) Stage 105ft in the air, keeping the roof system together. When Gabriel was ready to go on I thought I could relax, at last, but one of the followspot operators on top of the mix tower had passed out, so I was asked to run a spot for the performance. When I started through the crowd and the mud, the Security Guard accompanying me asked the crowd to let me through, and 10,000+ people made a path for me and applauded until I had climbed to the top of the mix tower! I can hardly believe it has been 29 years.

I'm going to agree with some of the other commenters that this is one of my all-time favorite concerts. Although I've only seen it on video - I never saw it live. The entire concert is worth watching. And the woman is Paula Cole - she had several hits back in the 90s. She has a great voice. And Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads is another fantastic concert movie that's worth checking out.

The first time I saw video of this performance was when the entire concert was broadcast on PBS. I think it was a fundraising drive. But it’s as amazing now as it was that first time. I would also recommend the videos of the songs Steam, Shaking the Tree, and I think they did Biko in that concert as well. But treat yourself and just watch the entire performance straight through. The visuals make the music even more emotionally appealing.

I was able to see this concert three times, once in the seventh row. (Unbelibal Vibe) I have been to many shows of his spanning many years. He always (Always) ends his shows with Biko. I am talking about the ones I have seen, "twelve" including Woodstock. If anyone here has seen him end a concert-more like a show, with any other song well let me know, and with what song? I almost met him, but I did share a moment. I was let to the stage with a rose that I tossed to him at the end of -In Your Eyes- twirling to his foot, I was five feet from him as he looked at me and said thank you as I said love you Peter. Great shows! Great man! His work with Amnesty International is unbelievable. He put thousands of video cameras from his own account into people's hands to record australites throughout the world.

The electric violin is not only double necked, but on each there are 5 strings, rather than the usual 4 on a typical violin. And the guitar is called - a 'headless guitar'. That particular one is by a company called Steinberger. The strings are fixed at the head end, just beyond the nut, and tuning adjustments are made by small screws down at the bridge end.

Peter had always intended this song to be a closer. The only reason it didn’t originally close out the “So” album was because it literally wouldn’t fit in the inside grooves of a vinyl album. When it was originally remastered for CD he changed the order so it could be the last song.

It addition to Paula Cole, there's a lot of other talent there. Manu Katche on drums is a monster. Tony Levin on bass is one of the best out there who has played with a lot of folks, such as King Crimson. The violinist is a very well known Indian classical musician, who has played on Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel albums, and who could probably still play this stuff if you cut off both his arms. But he's probably having a blast being on the road with these guys. Peter Gabriel of course was lead singer for Genesis in their classic period and was ubiquitous in the late 80s and early 90s as a solo artist. This whole show is available on DVD/blu-ray, and it's awesome. Check out Paula's song Mississippi, which is really good.

Hi Viouslyerdy, As someone earlier mentioned, the duet between Peter and Paula Cole on Don't Give Up in this same concert is enough to make you cry...it is a legendary duet with Paula having equal time singing. The original version of Don't Give Up was with Peter and Kate Bush which is also fabulous. I think you might really enjoy both versions as you have great taste in female vocalists.

One of those occasions when a live version turns an already great song into something transcendental. - Like the Paris version of 'In The Air Tonight', the Alchemy version of 'Sultans Of Swing'. Peter is doing a tour in the summer and I'm fulfilling a lifetime ambition by seeing him at the O2 in London. Really hoping he does this one! I've seen Genesis and Steve Hackett, and Peter's going to be the last piece of the puzzle.

I love Peter Gabriel and have seen him in concert many times. I’d love to see you react to more/different music of his as “In Your Eyes” is one of my least favorite songs of his… Maybe try something from, or the entire albums PG I (car), PGIII (melt), or PG IV (Security).

It was the encore so yes it was at the end of the concert. Saw this at the old Montreal Forum in 1994.
