I love that you recognized the chromatic drop and I also love that you recognized it as something very common in gospel music. They always add the sauce but they added that Louisiana Hot Sauce on this one.

I love how much you catch and teach us about music. I can hear the vibe but not know why it is. You explain it so well. I always love seeing reactions to this because anyone who know anything about music always freak out at that chromatic (?) part, while amateurs at most say "oh, that's cool". The absolute nerdy glee musically knowledgeable reactors get from that is beautiful to see!

I *love* "Come Along!" Matt's bass notes get me right to my core, Kevin goes off the RAILS with his beatboxing, Scott and Kirstin are flawless as usual, and there's even a tiny little Mitch-Slap in there :D

I was pretty much going to come up with a list more or less exactly like this, but now I don't have to. YAY! This list is absolutely spot on. The only addition I can think of to add is the "Fa la la la la" song... um... errrr.... "Deck the Halls!" That one is crazy! It's like every lyric they're switching things around, which is pretty much one of their signature moves.

PTX has a playlist on their channel called Pentatonix's Ultimate Christmas KZread Playlist with all their christmas songs and videos I would just dig through it and find something that interests you! They go craaaazy with the arrangements for christmas songs they're either full of beautiful harmonies or just straight bangers and you never know which one you'll get lol o come all ye faithful goes HARD

I'd love to see your reaction to their Christmas original songs Evergreen (this has a guitar in it), and Thank You (piano and cello). They are both beautiful!

Dave - I appreciate you so much! I love this song and as is often the case, I don’t know why I just feel it and love it. Then you come along and break it down, providing all of that musical knowledge, and with that understanding I love it even more. I knew there had to be a name for that super interesting thing they did and now I know. Chromatic descension. Hardly anyone notices this and i always wonder why cuz it sounds so cool. Thank you! As for Christmas music, I was never into it until I discovered PTX. A few of my favs include The First Noel, O Come All Ye Faithful, Joyful joyful (live 2021 Evergreen concert), Silent Night live in a cathedral, That’s Christmas To Me (original written by KO). There are so many. Wish I could hook you up with my Spotify playlist. 🎅🏻🎄🎁

Can’t wait for Christmas this year! And Pentatonix has a LARGE Christmas playlist to choose from. Some of the best older throwback are OCome All Ye Faithful, thier 1st Joy to the world, Silent Night, Carol of the Bells, White winter hymnal… And of course Mary Did You Know, but I think you may have reacted to that. They did a live concert at BYU that was amazing last fall and I think you can find the individual songs out there to react to. . Nice! I think there was an invisible tambourine in Scott's hand . . . You have eleven years of Christmas songs to go through, including the new "Joy to the World" album for this year. As you have discovered (The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy) some of those "Christmas" songs can be a little edgy. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" sounds like a warning of the Apocalypse. Some are deliriously bright. Any song you pick will be memorable. I hear sleigh bells coming. Or is that Mitch?

Dave, I am on an a total binge of your PTX and Superfruit reactions! Love how expressive you are and how the music moves you. I am learning a lot from you, it helps me appreciate their music even more. My very favorite Christmas song of theirs is The First Noel. It is angelic, and Avi's voice is really showcased. It gives me chills and soothes my soul at the same time:)

Hello Dave. PTX does it again. This another fantastic cover - they are singing with such passion. Mitch on that last verse with his swag is just classic. Have you reacted to "Come Along" and "Havana" yet? BTW if you want to see more of PTX live performance there is a great interview with the New York Times Talks Festival (2018) where PTX did an interview, answered questions and performed about five songs, at the beginning and the end of the interview, including Attention and Havana. Hope you get a chance to react to that. The entire show is about one hour so you could break it up into segments for the interview portion and do each song separately. Also recommend the live performance of "No" with Mitch in a black bow-tie. Look out for fan videos posted after Hollywood Bowl on September 29. Great reaction as always. More PTX please.

Love the reaction my man!! I really enjoy how you get into the music...it's cool to see. With their new album they now have right at 5.25 hours of Christmas music...We start them at 7pm Christmas eve and go straight through...Love this.
