That little step down that you asked what it was isn't heard very often which is why it's so pronounced here - it's a chromatic step down. If you step down through a scale on a piano, usually, you'd press each white key. In a chromatic step, you press every key including the black keys between them.

Matt was introduced with the group as an "interim member" during the 2017 Christmas tour (Avi had officially left about two months earlier). Matt appeared on stage in their 2017 Christmas TV special, but was not part of their onstage banter or between-songs skits. He was not on their first video for the 2017 Christmas album (Away in a Manger) but made his first appearance on the Deck The Halls video, although he was not yet an official member. He officially joined the group in March 2018. This video is from the Top Pop Vol 1 album, which was his first as a full-time member.

Matt’s first introduction was around Christmas, the deck the halls song was the first video he did with Pentatonix, he also came in and out at the their Christmas special that year he joined them when they were singing but the fun chatting interaction parts he left the stage, I think they were just seeing if he was the right fit at that time. This song and album was the first non Christmas songs with Pentatonix I believe

You're right. He was called in September 2017 and asked to move to LA within a week. That was 3 months after his live audition. The day after he got there they had him in the studio. I believe he said that was the 15th. Then he went on tour with them, but he wasn't made an official member until February 2018.

Matt joined them for the 2017 Christmas tour and special. He was in the Deck the Halls video and others for that year. This is on the first album he did... with Havana, New Rules... etc.

They are just amazing. This definitely shows what Matt can do. And well Kevin is always Kevin. Thanks for the reaction!!

You commented on Kirsties attitude, from what I've read, this was around the time she broke up with her ex fiance. I think she put some effort into the not giving him attention, good for her. Don't know who her ex is, but maybe he was jealous of her success. Some guys can't handle the female leaving them in the dust. She rocks

her ex is the guy (jeremey micheal lewis) she sang the disney love medley with in the voctave video. he is now dating youtuber LaurDIY. the rumor is he is a clout chaser because hehas dated successful people in the industry even before kirstie.

For the record, Dennis, 4:05, you hit those notes pretty effortlessly.

For me this is way in the top echelon among all their videos, and you sir are top among reactors to it -- you noticed everything, where so many others miss something (or many somethings). This has about 500 great arranging/performing moments in it, and they work together brilliantly. (I'll confess that instead of the abrupt ending -- which I recognize is a stylistic thing -- I would prefer another 4 bars of playout to bring it to a true end and let Matt do his "badoombadehdeh" again. That would bring it to perfection. But no matter.) As you noted, it lets all 5 members shine, wonderfully. And that moment when they all descend the chromatic scale together -- genius.

This was the first one I decided that I MUST listen to each one of theirs at least 5 times to zone in on each part... Simply put... WOW !!!

Yeah, they do this dirty. That's all there is to it.

Great reaction (as always). That scale down was in the Chromatic scale. Rare and not easy at all. Go PTX.

Visually it's similar to "Valerie" by Acapop Kids. All those bass drops were so cool. I know you haven't reacted to "Can't Hold Us" by Pentatonix.

For a real treat, listen to Michael Babbage's mix of both the Charlie Puth original (in the right ear) and Pentatonix (in the left ear). He changed the pitch on one of them (they were a half step off) and a teensy bit of time adjustment (they were almost the same tempo). From the end of the bridge to the end of the song, it is such a great point/counterpoint between the two. During the verses, regardless of who is singing, it sounds much like Charlie's original.
