Who knew, in 1969, that Steve Perry would turn out to be one of the best rock vocalists ever! In high school, he was a senior and I was a freshman. He didn't know I was alive, but I knew who he was - he was friends with my next door neighbors. I snuck out my bedroom window to go to the graduation party next door, but didn't get to talk to him. I faded out fast after 1 beer and snuck back home!

Once upon a time many years ago I was friends with a DJ at 94.9 Zeta 4. I was in the studio with my friend during one of his shifts and this song came up on the play list. He smiled at me and said, "There's only one way to listen to this song: Really loud." He then cranked up these massive studio speaker to like 80 Dbs and we just rocked out to it. Wow finally! Your audience has been waiting for another Journey reaction after you reacted to Wheel In The Sky, a month ago. So Thank you! About Faithfully, Keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote it for his then wife about the difficulties of touring, being married and the long separations on the road, yet remaining faithful. Steve Perry is the lead singer of all of Journey's iconic songs from October 1977 through 1987 and again from 1995 - 1998. After Steve left the band Journey has had 3 or 4 lead singers the current one being Arnel Pineda all required to sound like Steve Perry who co- wrote most all the iconic songs with Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon. It's Steve Perry's soaring vocal range paired with the chemistry of these crazy, talented musicians that brought the success to Journey. The one and only Steve Perry is known as "The Voice", a named so by Jon Bon Jovie. Please listen to Journey with Steve Perry live in concert performances too, you haven't even begun to be blown away. The love they showed performing live for their fans really comes through. Recommend: "Still They Ride" live from Tokyo 1983 "Mother Father" live from Houston Escape Tour 1981. "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever" official video.

Yes, the live is great. I was fortunate enough to see this live in 1983. Bryan Adams, Zebra, and Foghat opened up for them. Journey was one of the first to utilize the big screen videos at their concerts. Steve Perry wanted to make sure the fans in the back of the huge arenas could enjoy the concert as much as those up front. When they did this song they actually played the official video of this song on the screens. You should check it out, pretty iconic. About being on the road and missing the one you love. Please go on a long Journey with them. They don't have a bad song with Steve Perry singing, especially live. I got to see them 4 times. Thanks and God Bless.

You really need to watch this with the video. It shows them on the road, rocking their guts out on stage.

Oh, you really should watch their live version of this song..."Live in Tokyo 1983". And remember that Journey's most successful years were when Steve Perry was the lead singer in the band, 1977-1998. There is no other voice like his...PERIOD.

If you are 90s like me, then you know exactly when you write a letter to someone with end of sentence "Forever yours, faithfully". That's why writing a letter more genuinely feel true from the heart rather than modern day messages phone, WhatsApp etc. Especially when you write a letter while listening journey faithfully music. Just what I did it in the past

I've heard that song 1000 times, and I've never heard that synth part in the background that you picked out. Good ears! What makes this song and the band so good, is that they are all very good at their instruments, but they don't play over each other to show off. Everything they do is to contribute to the song in a positive direction. Even the last music line of the song, you can hear the guitar doing reverse bends to set the mood. And just in case you haven't seen it, while I normally don't like videos, because I think they are often non relevant to the song and takes something away from it, the original video for this song is spot on and really adds even more to an amazing song.

My, then fiance', and I were out dancing and this song came on. As we slow danced I sang along with it in her ear (it was quite loud in the club). Later, when we left, she said she wanted me to sing it at our wedding. I didn't, because I had to sing most of it in Head Voice, which wasn't too good back then. Side note: I also played the big drum fills on her butt, which made her giggle. 🤪😁 I love that this touched you emotionally! 😍

Journey originated the power ballad, largely because Steve Perry was such an amazing balladeer. When Jonathan Cain joined the group, he and Steve got together and the ballads started coming. Steve Perry is really a crooner or an R&B singer. He was really driving the bus for much of the band's most successful era. No big hits since he left in the 90s.

I saw them in concert during their Raised on Radio tour, the last one with Steve Perry. We were in Alaska (I think they were on their way back from Japan) and we got free tickets because my ex-husband, a commercial bush pilot, gave some of them and crew a flight tour. Epic concert!

Faithfully was actually written by Johnathan Cain. The Pianist/keyboard player/vocalist/songwriter. He wrote it for, or I should say, to his wife, during a time in which they were going through a very tough time in their marriage due to the obviously heartbreaking toll of the lifestyle that they both chose was having such a painful effect on both of them, and what they were both going through because of it. So he wrote this song to show her just how much he truly loved her, and to acknowledge how deeply her pain, was effecting her (as well as to tell her how deeply it was effecting him also). And well, all I can say is that the lyrics say it all so beautifully as well as perfectly!! His lyrics not only capture and portray his emotions and feelings, but those of millions of people in this world so well. This is the reason that this song is so loved by millions of people, because it's so very heartfelt and relatable to the so many millions. Between this, and the fact that Steve Perry is in my eyes the best, most technical singer in rock and roll history. There's a reason why he was, and always be referred to as "The Voice" by not only all of his fans, but also everyone in the music industry as well. That, along with the fact that Journey is a group made up of literally five of the all-time most talented, technical musicians to ever come together as a band, they will forever be one of the best bands in the world! As far as the song "Faithfully", it is, and always will be, one of the best songs (or ballads) of all-time. Especially the live version that they performed during their "Escape" tour in Houston, in 1981. BTW...One very important thing that has to be pointed out, is that this music was made and recorded during a time in the music industry when there were no such things such as pitch correctors, etc. So whenever you're hearing Steve Perry singing, you're hearing Steve Perry's actual real, flawless voice....raw! Which by the way, he had a phenomenal four octave vocal range of C3-C4-C5-C6 PHENOMENAL!

Neal Schon was a guitarist for Santana. He and Greg Rolie quit Santana. They founded Journey. Santana, Journey and I were born in San Francisco. I grew up listening to both bands. 40 years.🎂 Faithfully was released in 1983. Written by Jonathan Cain. He is on piano and synth. Steve Perry was the lead singer. The lead singer now is Arnel Pineda. Neal Schon discovered AP on the Internet! The late Prince called Jonathan Cain to have him listen to Purple Rain because he thought it sounded like Faithfully and didn’t want to step on any toes. JC said Purple Rain was inspired by Faithfully but not copied. JC gave a big thumbs up! 👍 RIP Prince. Drums by Steve Smith. 🥁 Same year, 1983. Faithfully song sounds like Heaven. Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. BA needed a drummer to record Heaven. His drummer Mickey Curry was not available because he was required by a prior contract to play with another musician. Steve Smith happened to be in town, New York. Thus, Heaven sounds like Faithfully. Suggested videos: 1 Steve Perry sings Foolish Heart 2 Bryan Adams sings Heaven.
