Michael Mittermeier is one of the most successful comedians in Germany and is more popular than ever. He goes on tour and makes many TV appearances. "Blackout" was his 2016 program in London, so it's older. Humor is a matter of taste. Some people like it, others don't and that's completely ok. If you don't like it, don't watch it. So easy.

The last german comedy price he won was in 2008. For the last 15years he disappeared from TV and Radioshows in Germany. Next time you can see him on TV is on 01.06.2024 with a repetition of his appearance from "Quatsch Comedy Club Season 5 of the year 2000 ... thats 24 years ago". Not sure why you think hes "more popular than ever" ?

@@Una_one The "German Cabaret Prize" you mention is a local archievement given from a local nürnberg theatre. I have won a local drawing contest 10 years ago, this doesnt make me a good artist ^^. Plus he didnt win the price, 2021 Horst Evers won. Its just a sidecategory win from a local theatre. 2022 German Comedy Price went to Carolin Kebekus. He just won a "Special Price" that was given to him via Quatsch Comedy Club. He wasnt even there or mentioned while the main event and the main prices were given. Edit: 2015. Yes, thats a real price. But thats also almost 10 years ago so i feel that this only supports my opinion So, in a way you are right. But in another way hes just insignificant for german comedy in the last 15 years.

@@speku87 Ok specu87 what exactly is your problem? A price is a price. A cabaret prize is not a student competition. However, he can be seen often, whether on stage or on TV, and that makes him very present for me. You don't like him, that's okay. I like him and listen and be amazed, that's ok too. We don't have to agree and if I think he's one of the best comedians, then that's my right. If you think differently about it, that's your right. No reason to argue about it. Relax a little.

(This part I understand and I accept)... but... Yugoslavian conflict... tv news... A prisoner who looks like a skeleton is standing on the other side of a fence and it wasn't in the 40's.... .everyone saw it and it still took a long time before the UN did anything. And now ? ..... Same fence... where? Palestine.... Hmmm.. Has the world learned anything?..... "Ohhhh, shut up....what did the Germans do in the 40's - so be quiet ...." Dit the World learn ?

It is hard to not feel guilty if this is the most stuff you learn about german history. Some people don‘t care so much, they need more pressure to learn what‘s important. Others are more empathic, these go through different emotions of guilt and shame while listening about what Germans did in the world wars. That is no reason to avoid the topic, but to maybe adjust the lessons a bit. (But I think it is already taught differently today compared to the time when Mittermayer went to school)

Back then he was usually wearing a blue shirt and basecap turned around 180° and the first comedy Special with him i saw was "Zapped - a TV junky goes nuts" and found it pretty good. So yeah, i never understood the stereotype of Germans not having any sense of humor xD Our humor is just different.

Being German is quite tragic, really. Guilt, shame....but still, pride, shuffling by awkwardly in the background 😎

I have a decent knowledge of English, I watch a lot of videos in English, but your accent made it impossible for me to enjoy your beautiful reaction - I simply did not understand you most of the time.

It's not that Germans don't have sence of humor, it's the way this sense is, the sense is not funny, except for small kids and the other Germans....German humor is pretty childish and flat!

German humor is often based on the many dialects they have. A northern German finds it amusing how a southern German speaks and vice versa. TV shows often play with the habits the Germans have or their bureaucracy and the struggle against it. Volk who do not know German culture would never fully understand German humor "Herr Müller Ludenscheidt".....(unless it is slapstick).

@@Holgerdansk I mean like I live in germany for a long time, and there is this guy "Mario Barth" he fills stadiums with "jokes" about everyday life of couples partly his life for example..., it's so repetitive and it's more the childish acting of this guy what amuses the germans more than the jokes, they r crappy! Ah don't forget about the Turkish immigrants comedians with all the same stories about immigration and crap like that, it's a disaster!!!

And then it has "Loriot" who plays with the German correctness and "Heinz Becker with the Family" (Gerd Dudenhöffer), Bully (Michael Herbig) and many others who have a different level than those you name..... stubborn.. .. a man with a telephone entertains a room with 15,000 people for over an hour.... (Dudenhöffer), well, that's ok enough. There are at least 50 comedians who hit the German humor and you only come up with a few.....well - how long did you live in Germany? maybe not long enough 😉
