I found this band more than 3 years ago. As a drummer the first thing I focused in on was the drums. When I clicked the video I had assumed this was just another Pop-Idol group where the girls just sing and dance and I was just going to click away pretty quick. But from the first ("Start Over") the Drummer was clearly playing. It went from this kind of light guitar pop to slowly built up piece that had me clicking on the next one on the list: "Thrill." A total throwback to 80s Hard Rock nearly Metal. The drummer is sprinkling in double pedals and just keeping it rock solid. At this point I'm impressed enough to keep going. "Real Existence" is what put me over the edge. Akane (I had read the comments to find out her name at this point) goes completely Keith Moon wild on the drums while never losing control. Each verse, each chorus and the guitar solo all have multiple sub sections on the drums, and it is simply amazing. Simple, but ever moving, changing and perfectly locked into the rest of the music. So, after watching every last official video on their channel multiple times, made my first iTunes purchase EVER (and first money spent on new music in DECADES) I called up a friend of mine who had played guitar professionally in Japan back in the 90s. "Dude, I just found THE MOST AMAZING Japanese band! and they're all girls! and all dressed up li...." "Oh, you found Band-Maid, here, let me send you a link" ONSET. I think I cried. I've not been THIS into a band since first learning to play drums listening to Rush. They are THAT good.

Akane is inspired by Nao Kawakita from Maximum the Hormon . Nao Kawakita is probably the most influential female drummer in Japan. She inspired several hard rock and metal drummers . Nao is a 45 year old mother of 2 ; and she still active . She’s one of the best and craziest drummers, just like Akane.

I love Akane as much as I love Haruna. And Misa...her bass is amazing!!!

Your tears of joy mean "you get it".....you get the Maids and what they bring to the table each and every song. MISA;s 4minute bass solo here is my highlight..

I've been a Maidiac for a while now and sometimes I still cry when listening to certain songs like Daydreaming, Puzzle, Blooming or Anemone. However, I do remember feeling overwhelmed to tears the first time I watched this live video. I was totally lost in the bass line, but then the drum solo kicked in and my heart was just racing. As a woman myself, this band is more than something to admire, they inspire me and keep me motivated in my own music journey. I was impressed by your smile and beautiful tears, BAND-MAID is in its element in live performance, and I look forward to its Reaction.

As the next song, I want you to listen to DICE, and then listen carefully when Akane plays the bass drum. She throws in triplets here and there, and I don't understand how she manages to do that without losing the rhythm. I'm totally fascinated by it! What makes it even more amazing for me is that she does the triplets with her right foot, without support with her left. Myself is a beginner behind the drum set and to be honest, Akane is really an inspiration to me. I'm really watching what she's doing and trying to learn from it. Many thanks for today's reaction! I also love Miku and Akane on the side of the stage, pumping their fists, clapping and cheering for Akane during her solo(many people do not notice this). How many bands have you seen do that for other band members???

Nice you took my suggestion, i knew you gonna love this, but wasnt prepared for tears of joy! WOW! They also get me emotional every time and i know them for years, they always do new solos, intros, outros etc. for every concert or liveshow they do, so its always a suprise... There is a lot to learn from Akane, in my book she is the best drummer today! There are many reasons for it, but its for you to discover and decide afterwards. Have a great new year 2022! Loved the smile and reaction. Being a drummer yourself, I knew you would appreciate Akane's drum solo and infectious smile. That's the one of the things I love about Band-Maid. Is that every member loves performing for their fans. As can be seen by the smiles on their faces. I'm sure that it's already been requested in the comments for Manners/Black Hole video from their online concert.

Fun inside bits in this vid. Miku had previously forgotten her part of the lyrics, so during this to tease her, Kanami came over and sat on the screen that shows the lyrics when Miku's part came up. That's why Miku kept giving the odd looks when Kanami came over. Also Saki came over to pull faces at Akane to try an make her laugh and mess up. But Akane is part Gorilla, part metronome, so it rarely works, and she just makes faces back while keeping it perfect. In "Play" Akane makes Saki laugh while singing if you listen for it. The way they interact, and have such a good time is just another of many reasons to love this band.

One of the BEST things about this band is that Miku started as the lead singer BUT just knew the band would be even better if stepped back, many a musician would NOT be able to do that.

It's special to be able to shed a tear because what you are hearing and seeing is so good. Band-Maid has many songs that when I am really listening, their playing and or singing brings a tear to my eye. Some how they can rip emotions out of me. Very few bands can do that to me once, let alone many times.

Facts! I honestly believe LOVEBITES is on the same level when it comes to musicianship just in a different genre (metal). They are currently on hiatus and it remains to be seen if and how they will be able to replace Miho (co-founder and bassist supreme).

Not only smiles, but their friendship. Kanami, Miku's guitar teacher and composer, crouches down during Miku's vocals and stares at Miku. Miku, whose eyes met, was a little surprised to be stared at by Kanami. During Akane's drum solo, Miku and Kanami crouch and raise their hands to cheer. They enjoy playing and make us happy.

I read somewhere that it was also a little bit of a trolling move by Kanami. By crouching Kanami blocked Miku's monitor, because Miku had made a lyrics mistake (lol) in an earlier concert.

These five incredible women are a gift to the world. They are phenomenal.Their talent undeniable and they are incredible, loving people.

For me it's maniacal laughter combined with the wiping of the eyes, and your reaction made me do it all over again with you. That's priceless. BTW: Of all the reactions to Freedom I've seen, spontaneous shirt-masking is a first. You're adorable and fast becoming one of my favorites. Keep it up! I'm looking forward to more drum covers too!

If you like BAND-MAID, I recommend their online acoustic live on December 25th. It's paid, but tickets that can be viewed until March are on sale on their official website. You can enjoy the live performance of 14 songs for 75 minutes for 150 minutes because you also have a commentary video. It sounds great and has great footage and I've already seen it seven times, but I'm always smiling and staring at something. The family is also smiling at it.

One of my favorite song of theirs and definitely my favorite video! Love it. Thank you for reacting to this video.

I took my wife to see them live a few weeks ago, before the show, I told her "If I cry, don't make fun of me." How does Band-Maid do that to us???

This is an early song they and we still love a lot.. Freedom lyrics were written by Miku. The music was an outside composer. But it's a good fit for them. The lyrics are a declaration of personal freedom. She is saying essentially, I go my own way and you can come along with my way, or go away! And gradually they have gained the artistic freedom they aspired to at the time. Talent, practice, determination.

This performance is pure fun and pleasure!
