To answer your question about how long I have known of Angelina: I am a 78 yo American who has been living in Costa Rica since retiring 16 years ago. I watch very little TV but in 2014 after her first audition on NGT went viral, a local TV station aired it and then her other 3 performances. I just happened to have had the TV on when I her her singing. I thought it was an adult or almost adult woman singing. I stopped what I was doing and went to the TV to see who it was. To my shock and amazement it was this little 7 yo with teeth missing. I Have followed her ever since watching her grow into a beautiful teenager and an even more beautiful person. I certainly have not keep count of the number of times, but i feel very safe in saying I have heard everyone of her songs on KZread well over 100 times. I have never felt that any one of her songs was my number 1 but maintained an ever changing top five list. That is till she released her latest cover song (All I ask by Adele). It is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion and I now have a #1 song by Angelina!! That is till she does something even more astounding which I am sure will not be long from now!! I am really enjoying your reactions to Angelina and hope you keep it going!!

I remember the first time I watched Angelina on Norway Got Talent singing GLOOMY SUNDAY. This cute little girl with missing baby teeth and unkempt hair comes on stage. She looked very confident, answered the judges questions, signalled to the technician to start the music, flipped her hair, and started to sing. I felt something in my chest. Angelina had just lit a flame of love in my heart and the hearts of many others. Since then those flames have grown into huge infernos of love and appreciation of Angelina and her music. She single handedly changed the lives of many of us to the better with her music and actions. Thank you Angelina and thank you for reacting to this song by the one and only Angelina Jordan

I was looking on internet for female Jazz artists in order to comment on a comment made by someone reacting to a song on KZread in 2017when I stumbled on a picture of Angelina on a clip of Gloomy Sunday. I never ended up making the comment. The next six hours were spent listening to Angelina. Now I have been able to cut my obsession down to 2 or 3 hours per day (on most days). PS. Not looking for help.

This was my introduction to Angelina, and what ever musical knowledge I thought I had past or present was changed from then on. I spent 2 weeks watching everything I could find about her. I fell in love with her voice, I listen to her everyday, only exception was a couple of days when I had covid. My favorite singer. Thumbs up Dave.

How many times have you seen the rowdy AGT audience stunned into total silence? BTW, the last judge, Heidi Klum, gave her the Golden Buzzer. I think all the judges knew of Angelina, particularly Simon who had tried to get her to sing on the show for 2 years. She & her team kept saying no because of the restrictive contract you have to sign before you perform. Finally, he relented & offered her a special contract that gave him no say in her career. Simon needed one of the greatest vocalists on the planet to boost the ratings & she needed exposure to the American audience to boost her fan-base & release an album last spring. Then came COVID-19 & here we are, still waiting for her album. I think the look on Simon's face is " I can't believe this one got away."

I first heard Angelina at this performance. I'm envious of those who found her earlier. Every day since January 6, 2020, I have listened to Angelina many times each day. She made 2020 more bearable. It started with Bohemian Rhapsody and ended with Million Miles, her 1st original with Republic Records. Now we have one more original and a new cover. Life is good!

Angelina was traveling on a country when she saw a poor girl with a scale for weights. her feet had sores and obviously no shoes. Angelina gave her the shoes she was wearing. The girl told Angelina that she was never going to forget her and Angelina promise her to not wear shoes on her performances until all the children in the World had shoes. When Angelina was 9 years old she wrote a book about this event (hopefully I remembered all the facts)

I didn't mind that. But this was a song the judges foisted on her for THEIR convenience to do an apples-to-apples comparison will all the other kajillion slow solo-piano versions of YELLOW. No, Elton sat on his hands. Now... when there's a chance for a duet - AND at the piano - that's what I'm hoping for.

These talent show audiences are special. You need an arrangement, in which you can show all kind of your skills, emotion, range, compressed in 2and a half minutes. Reflecting that, this was a masterpiece.

This was filmed in Oct 2019 (Aired in Jan 2020). Some us knew that she was on it in Oct, and some us had even heard that she got the buzzer, but there were zero leaks on what song she was going to sing. Nobody would have predicted this. To answer your question.... I was following Angelina long before AGT, and anticipating this for 3 months prior to the air, and know of her dream to sing for simon since she was 3... I can even explain how incredible this was to watch that night. I also can't overstate how much exposure this gave her. The fanbase exploded after this. Also.... I usually only leave this once for any give reactor, but I am getting the feeling that maybe you missed it the first time ;) If nothing else, read why she sings barefoot... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 15 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need. - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 130 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written four of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", and "Million Miles" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube) In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music. - Updates: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced in an interview that they have decided on Republic Records as the best fit for Angelina and she is now signed with them as their "highest priority new artist". On Nov 6 she released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"! On March 19 2021 Angelina released her latest single "7th Heaven" She has done so much already, but at 15 she is just getting started!!!

@@whatitdodave , I subscribed a few days ago because of your favorable reaction to Angelina. Just thought you'd like to know something for future reference -- The four people on the front row the camera kept cutting to, and where you paused it at the end for your comments, are her family. And what a close, tight-knit, supportive family they are! The man is Angelina's Uncle Michael Astar (who is also her manager and the one who helped her close the deal with Republic Records last year). The little girl is Angelina's adorable sister Juliette. If you ever react to Angelina's cover of Amy Winehouse's "Valerie," you will see Juliette dancing behind Angelina on the beach where it was filmed. Cuteness plus! The pretty blonde lady is Angelina's mother Sara Astar who has been very wise and protective of Angelina during her childhood, upbringing, and methodical, almost chess-like moves into the musical scene. The older lady is Angelina's grandmother Meri Zamani. She is a famous Iranian artist / poet, being a prodigy herself when she was a child! You will see her paintings in the background from time to time in many of Angelina's "at-home" performances. She is actually the one who "introduced" Angelina to music at one year of age, and began helping Angelina actually research and learn primarily jazz songs (and other genre) at age three! There is a very short video clip of Angelina singing part of "I Will Always Love You" at 18-MONTHS (!) after hearing Whitney Houston sing it several times on her Grandmother's CD! Hope this is good background information for you! Blessings to you!

I know Angelina four years prior to AGT. What AGT did for her is that Bohemian Rhapsody got tens of millions of views if not more. And that was throughout the world. It gave her exposure worldwide, but especially in the United States where she was less well known. Her version of Bohemian Rhapsody was arranged by herself and received wide acclaim. In fact, Queen members reposted her version on their website! Next, I would encourage you to react to Angelinas Goodbye Yellow Brick Road from Elton John. Bohemian Rhapsody was her audition on the show, and the Elton John song was her final. It is quite special.

When I saw her sing "Gloomy sunday" on Norway got talent I had the same feeling of something extraordinary as you had when listening to "All I ask". After that she`s been great for her age all the way until today. To me it feels like she after all the music she has given us, now sing Adeles "All I ask" as a final exam for just telling us she`s ready. And that`s why I feel this is her best song until now. Wonderful, Angelina, both watching and listen to.

Dave, love you, man! Hey, what did you expect? This has been regarded as her MASTERPIECE and rightfully so. But, Bohemian Rhapsody now has company because ALL I Ask has to be considered another MASTERPIECE. That one shot you froze of the audience was her family. It was her grandma, mom, sister and uncle (who is also her manager). I think of that scene often because can you imagine what they felt like during the performance!!!!! I mean, we went nuts! Can you imagine they way they felt? If you get your hands on a video which features her getting the Golden Buzzer it is definitely worth watching.Angelina's reaction is heart wrenching and the family is standing and sobbing. Geez, I'm starting to tear up just picturing the scene. Someday, if I ever meet you and buy you a cup of coffee we can talk about the AGT results. Suffice to say Angelina's camp came to the USA and AGT to get the exposure they were seeking and, boy, did they get it. AGT, although compromised by the Angelina camp for not signing any binding contracts with AGT knew they had to have Angelina on the show. So, the results were agreed on before the results were announced. So many other details but, Dave, of course she won if everything was legit. She did two other songs during the AGT Show and both of them received standing ovations. In fact, her three appearances were the highlights of the entire show. Who won? Don't remember. I don't think anybody does. It wasn't a singer, though. That would have been ridiculous. Thanks, Dave. I love your reactions. You will continue to be amazed as you check out Angelina's journey so far. I don't want to scare you but there's a clip of her singing Whitney Houston laying in bed with a microphone at 1 1/2 yrs old!

I believe that Simon knew of her and her abilities before her appearance. He was evaluating her to see how good she really was and how hard to fight for a contract. He was impressed. After this performance, the judges go up on stage and he says to her something like "I don't think you know how good you are". Nonetheless, she was 13 and wasn't going to get signed at that age.

For my part, I cannot remember exactly, I probably saw her for the first time around 2015. I was browsing KZread through Talent shows performances and I stumbled upon her NGT audition song "Gloomy Sunday" in my recommendations. I felt very emotional from the very first notes. I was completely amazed by the emotions she carried and the technique she was showing at such a young age. After that, I went through all her NGT performances and her live performances available at that time. At that point, though I've never been a fan of child singers, I also did search to see if I wasn't missing on any other prodigies. In the end, I came to the conclusion that she was the only young singer and, actually, the only Talent show performer that had this gift. No matter how technically flawless a performer could be, no one could convey these emotions as well as that 7-year-old barefoot little girl with crazy hair. I did stop watching KZread and even listening to music altogether for many years, slowly restarting to listen to her two years ago. I've been listen to her everyday these past months! The other singer I got impressed with was Morissette Amon, because she is most likely one of the best vocalists of our times. However, Angelina is special. All of us true fans are connected to her with our hearts, and that can only be possible because it's Angelina~

I had never heard of "Angelina Jordan" when I stumbled on this song. My jaw went slack almost from the first bars. Almost catatonic, I barely moved until I had to click the mouse to hit replay. Then again, after it completed. Then again. And again. All in a numb buzz. Now one of my greatest joys is watching people discover Angelina. Far and away my greatest recreation at this point. And it's not just the music. It is all backed up by who she is. Barefooted, until every child in the world has shoes. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The Barefoot Princess isn't just a special singer. She is a special person. At 6 she takes the shoes off her own feet and gave them to a young girl in need. That is when she became a 6 year old philanthropist and declared she would never perform with shoes on again until all children in the world have shoes. At 7, after winning NGT, she donated a portion of her winnings to charities that help the poor with an emphasis on the poor children. She became the youngest published author after writing a book about her experience with the giving away of her shoes. She arranges her own music. She designs her own cloths. She designed what she's wearing in this video. She's humble, she's kind. An older woman once told AJ her singing brought her to tears. Angelina apologized to the woman. I watched your reaction to "I Put a Spell on You". If you notice at the start of that vid she is writing on a peice of paper and then an older gentleman was reading it and chuckled. That was a 9 year old telling a seasoned conductor and a professional band how she wanted this to go. Sorry to ramble so long but she is such a complex person and has already accomplished so much at such a young age a person can go on and on about her. At the begining of this vid she said she waited 10 years to sing for Simon. She was 13. That means she already knew what path she will be going down at age 3! Saw her on AGT with this performance and that was it. She "Put a Spell On Me". It has been a priveledge to follow her career. She is a gift to the world.

America's Got Talent - The Champions is produced in the Fall when the crew is not busy with the original AGT. So, Angelina was 13 when this was produced, but not aired until the following winter (so no live judging). She said that she won at age 7, but she did not, it was age 8. It is thought that she said that to make the math easier to follow! Of course, I am sure that all the judges knew of Angelina - just remember that this is a scripted show. And Simon had been trying to sign her up for years (so did Disney and others). I've lost track, but have been following her career for many years, long before AGT.

I stumbled on Angelina a little over 5 years ago. Just browsing KZread and "BAM". A new understanding of "Pure Music". Changed my entire view and feelings toward Music. A greater appreciation of all genres of music. Never been moved like Angelina, takes a song and draws you in deeper and deeper and deeper. Now I am down that beautiful rabbit hole and completely love it.

BARE FEET - At age 6 Angelina and her mom were traveling when they came upon a poor girl about the same age as Angelina. The girl was sitting on the side of the road and she had no shoes on her feet. Angelina asked her why she didn't have shoes and the girl told her she was too poor to have shoes. Angelina took her shoes off and gave them to the girl. The girl offered to pray with Angelina and Angelina decided at that point that she would not wear shoes whenever she performed as a reminder to the world that there are those around us in need. She is an incredible person!!

I first saw Angelina Jordan perform for Little Big Shots and loved the performance. She was great but didn't immediately grab me until I thought back about it, searched youtube, and watched her "Bang Bang" performance on Norway's Got Talent. From then on I was a fan, especially of her younger performances. Between 11-14 she performed a lot more pop than Jazz and I wasn't nearly as impressed. I considered "Gloom Sunday," "Summertime(Either version)," and "Unchained Melody(earlier version)" her best work. I love her originals, and I loved this cover, but it wasn't until I heard her latest Adelle cover that I have to admit she is better as an adult than she was as a child.

You have officially become my favorite reactor. This performance was my first exposure to Angelina. I then went back to her Norway’s Got Talent and if you are blown away now than just hold on. What this child at seven does will send you to the moon. By the way, have you heard her version of Fly My To The Moon yet? As to her bare feet. It is a beautiful story. I may not get all the details right but at the age of six she was traveling in the Middle East. (Her grandmother is Iranian I believe, but Angelina does not identify the country she was in) she saw a child about her age on the street. The girl had bathroom scales and was weighing people as a means to make a living. The two spent several hours talking. The girl was an orphan, had siblings, dreamed of being a doctor but had little hope of achieving her dream. Angelina noticed her bare feet which torn and scared. I believe the child commented on Angelina’s shoes, a pair of green boots that Angelina loved. Without a thought Angelina gave her boots to the girl who then promised to pray for Angelina every day, that her dreams of becoming a superstar would come true. Angelina promised to always perform barefoot so that she would never forget this girl and to work for children so that every child has shoes to wear. Angelina has donated millions toward helping children and written a book about this experience.

I discovered her by cruising through KZread videos. I find it hard to believe that you never heard of her until just recently - I would guess that Yellow Brick Road on AGT will be on your list. The thing that gets me is that when Angelina Jordan walks on that stage to do this performance she was already a professional performer. Don't get me wrong she blows my socks off. When I heard her singing some of those blues pieces, my first impression was that she must have weaned on Billy Holiday. Now you want to be rocked by an amateur on AGT, who is now a professional take a look at Grace VanderWaal.

You asked when we first came across Angelina Jordan. For me it was purely by chance. On 27th June 2018 I went to the concert for Quincy Jones 85th birthday at the O2 in London. Went to see Mick Hucknall from Simply Red and Mark Ronson. A 12 year old girl had been invited to open the show singing Fly me to the moon. Quincy Jones had done the arrangements of this for Frank Sinatra. I had never heard of Angelina before, but have spent the time since then watching her huge numbers of you tube videos.

Great reaction Dave! When America’s Got Talent had aired, I had been following Angelina for about three years (I had first heard her in 2017). I think I was atypical as an American - I don’t think many of us had heard of her prior to this performance (with the exception of Angelina’s angels, of course😉). When I heard she was going to be on, I thought “IT’S ABOUT TIME!”... she was finally going to get the attention in America that she deserved (she made a bit of a splash when she performed on the View in 2017, but I’d died down and she was mostly forgotten about [an excellent performance worth reviewing, by the way]). So she did spectacularly on America’s Got Talent and then BOOM!... the Pandemic hit. 😢 This past year, most of us have been biding our time and waiting (frustratingly) for her anticipated meteoric rise to worldwide fame. Personally, I think it will happen THIS year when the Pandemic is mostly behind us and the entertainment and live performance industries slowly get back to a semblance of normalcy. It’s exciting to watch it happen. With Angelina, the SKY is the limit (as well as being her inspiration🌙🌝✨). BTW, Dave - you should consider reacting to one of Angelina’s NGT performances. Like all of Angelina’s performances, they will blow your doors off.

We and her dedicated Angels, definitely knew who she was and the reason for her being there at AGT Champion. Not only because she was the winner of Norway's Got Talent , it was her life long desire since the age of 3 (yes ,you're hearing correctly !) to sing in front of Simon, her idol. Also , it was a strategic move by her and her Management to base themselves in L.A to capture the large audience of USA .

Mike, I've thought these judges only picked her from Tiny Norway because of the audition tapes someone HAD to provide. How could they not?!! The question, to me, has always been, "How many KZread videos were consumed before her Oct taping?" Simon was aiming to get her signed well before this - and why? "Because he'd seen videos" - probably live performances in open-air festivals (FEELING GOOD) then on TV shows (again, the slightly different FEELING GOOD cover). Like the live orchestral version of SUMMERTIME and compared it to her TV studio version.

@@BuffaloC305 All the judges knew exactly who she was before the show. There's a lot of acting going on, like the feigned surprise that she won Norway's Got Talent at seven or that she was now thirteen. Rumor has it the show's producers wanted Angelina for the first "Champions" show the prior year (this was season two), but her team (i.e., manager & uncle, Michael) wouldn't agree to Fremantle's terms. They want everyone to sign a contract before coming on the show that specifically grants Fremantle the right to a recording deal afterward (at their option). Her team wouldn't agree to that. But apparently by the second season's "Champions" show, AGT wanted her bad enough that they agreed to a contract that did NOT include the recording deal clause. The more skeptical among us claim she didn't win the show because of this disagreement. I hold a different view: I believe the so-called "SuperFans" who vote for the winners of this show are musical dolts who don't know talent when they see it! :-)

I've been following AJ's KZread videos since Summer, 2018, blown away by PUT A SPELL and I've never escaped that whirlpool since. 'Shock & Awe' on the audience/judges faces - oh wow - wait'll you see her 7-year-old Norwegian Talent show's bomb-like impact on those judges as she performed Billie Holliday's GLOOMY SUNDAY. One judge stops breathing so long that her final close-up has her gasping for breath, as if "I just forgot to breathe!!". When AJ returns later, she has the same impact singing George Gershwin's SUMMERTIME in that same canned, backing-track karaoke-style rendtion - with a live trumpet player alongside. Judges are all but blasted backwards. One thing to note in AJ's AGT pre-performance intro-talk - she says she's been waiting to perform in front of Simon "for 10 years." Uh. She's 13. Uh. So, she's THOUGHT about performing SINCE THREE?!! Yes. I dislike all of these talent shows and this AGT excursion is precisely why: (1) her first song is hers and hers alone "as long as it fits within our time constraints so chop up the two-verse section you want." Then (2) AGT says, "Great, but now we want an Apples To Apples comparison, so you're assigned to sing one of OUR songs - you can do it in YOUR way, but this is a song common to most every singer around; and do it in our time-constraints. (She does an excellent but entirely predictable version of YELLOW BRICK ROAD.) Her final song, too, is assigned to her, and she must share attention with two visual artists which predictably present oohs and ahhs to the audience while AJ is background Muzak. yawn... Finally, (3) the Winner gets voted by non-judges and it's clear to at least AJ fans that her BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is the kill-shot, the game winner in the First Inning, First Pitch. But not to the 'voters' whoever they are. This show was filmed almost 4 months before broadcast (Oct then on TV in Jan). There were rumors she hadn't signed with Simon's puppeteers during her performance, so her Not Winning was entirely predictable, too. Why would Simon want His Show's winner to NOT be among his cattle-herd of talent? He would not, and she was not. I am frankly more pleased with her refusal and couldn't care less about these shows. For at least those 3 reasons.

Hi Dave...loved your reaction. In answer to your question about Angelina before this AGT performance, here is what I know, which maybe missing some facts (Rusty Shackleford would know more) but she was approached by AGT after winning NGT at 7-8 years old to appear on AGT. Angelina and her family, who are very protective of her, refused do to the AGT, (Simon) because of the Contract restraints on signing with them. Eventually, Angelina and her family allowed her to appear on this show, only after they removed the restraints of contracts with AGT. Likely why she did not win this nonsense show since she was clearly the best performer on AGT that year. Is what it is I guess, though she did receive a lot of exposure to the American audiences... Rest is history. BTW, the blond lady they keep showing in the Audience is her Mom, also there are her Grandma Mery, little sis Juliette and her manager, Uncle Mike.
