The MV is about an abusive relationship with a narcissist. Through the lyrics we find out he controls her life, he makes her think he's the only one in the world who understands and puts up with her, he makes it seem like it's all her fault. This narcissist is called NAR. In the beginning of the video, snippets of texts as if pages of a notebook quickly flash on the screen. What we first learn about NAR is, "NAR, when you flipped over the chair, the frame, the books next to the television, and even the vases in the kitchen. I was like, is this really a perfect world? I don't know. It's so confusing. I need to turn the light off". The MV seems to start after this happened as we can see NAR straightening the book and vases. This violent outburst made Taeyeon question the relationship: "is this really a perfect world?" CIS, the house, the relationship The house, the photos and the world being upside down symbolize the relationship. How NAR makes it all seem normal even though an outside viewer can immediately see it's wrong. Taeyeon has fallen into believing that it's normal that the world is upside down, that the relationship is normal. This interpretation is also backed by the text in the beginning: "Yeah, you're right. I think the world flipped upside down is beautiful. I believe". That's why towards the end NAR forces Taeyeon to watch the city upside down, trying to force her back into his lies when she starts to see the truth in the relationship. SIS, the crystal ball, the help The crystal ball helps Taeyeon see this truth. When she looks through it, it shows her the upside down world the right side up again. It helps her see the relationship through the eyes of someone else. The first notebook page in the beginning says, "When I got the crystal ball, I decided to call it 'SIS'. Is this what having a sister feels like? I rely on her more and more". This makes me think the crystal ball symbolizes someone, a person, who helps Taeyeon out of the abusive relationship. NARCISSIST The letters CIS and SIS keep appearing here and there over the music video. They are the little signs in the relationship, the red flags. By themselves they don't mean much and might even go unnoticed. But when the truth finally comes out, thinking back the signs were always there. Taeyeon puts all these pieces together in the end when she pulls out the before partly hidden word 'NARCISSIST', revealing the true nature of NAR, and burns down the house, ending the relationship.

Yes you definitely correct. This time she wants to release a light comfortable music to listen. That's why, all songs in the album have no crazy high notes like previous albums. But still its a no skips album to listen too..

Thanks for reacting! I wanted to say that in Taeyeon's live she explained that she wanted the title track to be simple so that we can listen to it comfortably. That's probably, why we didn't get an amazing bridge either way; I love the song.💯

I think Taeyeon left the 'high belts' away in purpose. It's a message that there is more in singing than high notes and for her delivering music and songs is about delivering music and songs, not showcasing her ability. (Which is incredible.) And that' s exactly the reason why I really, really respect and love her. And that's why I think I never get bored of any of her singing. 'Virtuotic' show- off singing (or playing) might give you WOW- effect once or twice but after that it is only boring. Taeyeon is a true musician. And I think it was a time for her to think of herself, her wellbeing and boldly not to try to reach the ever growing expectations for something 'grand' from the public. It was a right time to relax a bit. Taeyeon is also smart.

To be honest i have my own theory for this song 🤣🤣 (the whole album actually coughjessicacough) plus taeyeon say the whole album is like a storyline altho she didnt personally wrote each of em (she does write one of em) she did direct how she want the lyrics to be wrote. Plus taeyeon always pick her song carefully and she do have couple song where the lyrics dont actually talk about love wise relationship altho its look like a love song. Taeyeon is the type she need to be connect to the song so she can give her all singing it. She have hard time connecting with four season song coz the song i guess it didnt match her ( if u saw the lyrics the song have sorta attitude on it). So she take the song as her relationship with her music/singing. how she at that time was strugling with her career. When she feel she wasnt good enough and have second thought about wanting to continue being a singer. Among sone and taeyeon we all know some song she low key use to throw some shade to sm. And there is so many song of her speaking about her struggle on her depression. There is also a song how toxic the whole kpop industry actually is. She also have a song where she dedicate it all to her fans as how she got thru the dark part of her life and survive coz the support and love she receive for her fans (u may not be aware but taeyeon known for struggling with depression and been thru a lot her whole career since debut). I think most of her song she pick at dingo is a song that held dear to her. So im not suprise if she lowkey throw shade at someone here without being too obvious to offend anybody 😂😂😂

The words spell out Nar-Cis-Sis. In the video, it looks like hes making her watch all the good things that happened in their relationship. Gaslighting her, saying im the only good thing in your life.
