This is very possibly...the greatest "power" ballad..ever! The emotional "steller" vocals makes girls cry...(without being sappy or cheesy!) and the "metallic" crunchy guitars make guys raise their fists! VERY, VERY few can do THAT!

I love this song. I can remember the first time I heard it. I was standing in line at a sub shop and some metal dude came in pumping this song on his boom box. True story. With that said, my favorite ballad is Angel Song by Great White. It is a less known ballad mainly because of Great White's other ballad (Save Your Love), which is an awesome ballad, too. They rarely play Angel Song live. But, that is my absolute favorite.

It is!! Much love.
The wailing of the guitars goes with the desperation in his voice a man that is so sorry for what he did begging for another chance !!!!
In my opinion ... one of the best ( power ) ballads written and recorded in history, so far. In this song is every single note perfect. The voice, the lyrics, the guitars, the bass and the drums. Best regards from hamburg/germany.
The song is from 1984. A small side note: The Scorpions are one of the few internationally successful German hard rock bands. Founded in 1965 !!! (under the name "Nameless"); first album 1972 and still active today.

Agreed!!!
My teenage yrs were in the 80's era. Graduated high school in 1991. The Scorpions were & STILL are my all time fav. A connection to my past that Scorpions had major part in. I'm a woman & women loved the Scorpions as well as did the men. In my school days we'd cover our school books w/brown paper bags. This left much surface for drawing space & BELIEVE ME, I wrote & drew the Scorpions on every book cover!!! Twisted Sister was HUGE when I was in 6th grade along w/Motley Crue. The boys would bring their Ghetto Blasters (is what we called these big carry w/you cassette boom boxes). 7th grade was Prince. In school these bands EVERYONE talked about & listened to. Scorpions I knew very well due to my father..was adult music at the time tho my era too BECAUSE had already made their mark while making their mark again & again. My father had a stereo system out of this world. He had the best available & EVERY album. Soon as album came out he would be the first to get it. We couldn't stomp through the house at all. Skipping a record would be Hell to pay. My ears heard music that kids in school didn't know yet. I remember when Quiet Rriot came out, remember Accept, Fastway, OF COURSE Aldo Nova already in there along with Alan Parsons (STILL LISTEN TODAY), Gary Newman, Peter Gabriel & ALL of Genesis then to Phil Collins, Zebra (SO LOVED) & more that my ears heard & listened to as a child into early teens my father played daily. My dad was a music buff. Every Saturday our house was packed for a party where this music played all night long. Yes, went to bed with loud music on. I'd lay in bed hoping to hear this song & that song. Days I still reminisce.. A time precious to me. Scorpions brings me there every time I listen to them.
Here's a quote you will understand. "Great music you love you just don't listen to, it's something you experience. It elicits an emotional response."

I'm in 100% agreement with your dad. This was/is the Scorpions best song and I think I could listen to it over and over. You can clearly feel the emotion of the lyrics in his voice.

That is absolutely true. I could listen to it over and over again. The emotion, my god, is on the next level than most ballads you hear. Just incredible. Thank you. He loves hearing your guys comments. Much love.
This is the epitome of power ballads. They have PLENTY of material, Holiday is another favorite of mine. In Trance, We'll Burn the Sky and Always Somewhere are awesome too!!! Great review.
One of our go to bands in the 80 s and still now. Never disappoint. Scorpions are an amazing band.

I've been in love with the song since I was a pre-teen. Hits the heart.

its strange, i d just heard this long version.. Thanks for uploading sist!!
There is an elegant Simplicity to these lyrics. They are not what I would call overly complicated or particularly grandiose. They are straight and direct to the point. And that really adds to the urgency of the message as far as I'm concerned. I agree with you that this has a purity and a vibe that feels like heartache personified. The song Still breathes all these years later because anyone who's been in this situation can relate to it 100%. Unlike a great deal of the sort of prefabricated and rather overly produced valids that were indicative of 80s pop metal or radio metal I guess would be perhaps a more accurate description this tune just has honesty written all over it. It goes right to the heart because it's real. This is my first time seeing your reactions, I really thought you nailed so much of the vibe in your opinions on the song, and I think it's awesome to know that these songs are still resonating with younger people who've never heard them before. Quality endures.

Thank you and I agree. It is why I started doing reactions. Because I loved watching new people enjoy my music, rock music. I thank my dad everyday for giving me this music all those years ago. I figured why listen to music I don't like to find one here and there when I could listen to my music, just ones I haven't heard yet. Best decision I have ever made haha.

@@SarahraeLivingLife I'm officially a thousand years old now, and probably share a great deal of the interest that your dad does musically. There is great stuff out there that is being released currently, the problem is is just buried under a septic Avalanche of derivative, simplistic, overtly corporate brain candy masquerading as music. When you look at the writing credits on songs like this one, you're going to see like one or two people. At most you might see the band in general if they were sharing the revenue equally when it comes to residuals.. but compare that to the current tired of production credits,.. where you're going to see the most ridiculously simple dribble featuring 35 different producers... and I use the term and it's brought us possible sense... that have contributed some goofy beat, or other element. I mean it's easy to fall into the trap at my age of thinking that music was categorically better when I was in my teens and twenties.. I think every generation feels like that... and it's not necessarily true across the board. It's just that we tend to favor things we have a nostalgia for, and when our genuinely want to be moved by music I tend to gravitate towards the older stuff. Even stuff that was around way before me such as the pop songs of the 50s 60s and seventies.. there is really some fantastic writing from that era and those songs hold up. I think those were cornerstones in the writing process for these bands from the '80s.. being is that would have been easily what they grew up on. Anyway song craft and arrangement is such a skillful and yet highly subjective art form, and it can make or break some genres. But in this instance this song would kick ass if it was just played on a simple acoustic guitar. Anyway, truly enjoying your channel and it's wonderful to see how much your getting out of this stuff. Kudos to your dad that is some badass parenting right there. Music is life and he is helped him view you with that kind of appreciation for Pure spirit. Cheers. Mars.

Literally the last video I watched had the same intro song as you! It was an auto racing channel. By the way, this is also my favorite Scorpions song and the best power ballad ever.
This song has stayed in my favorites playlist since the days of 8-track and cassette tapes! Another spectacular Rock love song/ballad/lament that I consider equal to this one is Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You".
Good to see you get so emotionally caught up in a song. It’s not just me! 😁 Another “break up” song you might like, that always brings a tear to my eye, is Now and Then, by Blackmore’s Night. The melody is based on Bach’s Prelude in C Major. You may recognise Ritchie Blackmore’s name from Deep Purple and Rainbow.

Nicely said. Top of the list of ALL the power ballads that came out back in the 80's and since then. With that said the art of the power balled hasn't been completely lost. Check out No Rain No Rainbow by Babymetal. A Japanese group that has a power ballad that would fit right in with this song from the Scorpions. Their producers block a lot of reactions. But if you just play the song, you won't have much trouble. I do advise that you watch the version from the Legend S concert. Just don't show it much while doing the reaction. It's in Japanese. I suggest looking up the translation after listening to the song. The song is so moving you hardly need the lyric translation. In the meantime, go enjoy some more Scorpions they're a great band.
