Real men cry; even Jesus cried, and He was the most masculine man who ever lived. It's an emotional song. Nice reaction.

In An American Trilogy Dan IS the Son of Pain. It is very evident that in the Trilogy each of the three levels of the song affected him down to the core of his spirit and being! The Son is feeling the depth of pain at losing his beloved father and whom will not see or share in the successes of his sons. Feeling very sad when I watch both songs. Dan sings everything so beautifully and with intense emotion! NoTe: this is just my interpretation and opinion!😉😊🫶🏻🧔🏻‍♀️🫡

I'm SO glad you have reacted to this song. It was one of the first group of songs I heard Dan sing. The keyboardist is Jacob Kaasgard (or just Jacob Ka). His channel (A Hero for the World) has a lot of great music on it--mostly metal. Also, he and his family do a TON of great Christmas music! The words come from "The Odyssey," and there's also a scripture 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 that gives meaning to the song, as well. It's about Jabez, who was named that (Pain) because his mother endured heavy pain when he was born. Jabez prayed, and God gave him a new life, other than the pain with which he had been connected all his life, that was always been translated over to others. Near the end, you can hear the words, "You had a choice, and you chose to lie." In the story, because of that, the character was sent to Hell. Then he prayed, and his prayer was answered. The emotion is about becoming reborn, and escaping Hell, while DENYING HELL'S FLAMES, because "the angels have rescued him." It falls right in with the theme of "Amazing Grace." 😀

Well i think its the song, (cause of emotionalism). It may be based on a fantasy theme, perhaps Lord of the Rings, but it is about redemption of his soul. He's been under an evil spell, but in this final day or moment he sees clearly and seeks forgiveness. In the end he rejoices that even if it is his final day, he renounces hells flame. Emotional stuff regardless of ones beliefs. Dan definately gets into the songs. 😊

Fabio Lione, one of Dan's inspirations for the development of his singing voice, was the lead singer of the band "Rhapsody" for many years, also in 2006, when their Album "Triumph Or Agony" with the song "Son Of Pain" was released. Rhapsody's songs feature mythical beings in the battle between good and evil. Dan's poverful voice is out of all ranges. Dan Vasc is able to portray emotions like an actor. Dan does it so magnificently that we are deeply moved.

Years after listening for the first time, I get chills every time, whether it's Dan or Fabio Lione singing. Rhapsody albums are not collections of songs, they're each a part of a high fantasy story. This is the turning point of the Emerald Sword saga, when Dargor, the antagonist of the first albums, put his life in the hands of the Angels and is reborn as the hero that will save the world. Dawn of Victory even has a line about the army of Dargor. I believe that as he got into character, Dan got a bit overwhelmed by the thought that his father died just soon enough that he never got to see him earn a living with his music. Might be wrong. Anyway, this song always hits deep. Hail Rhapsody! 🤘🤘

Rhapsody (ska Rhapsody of Fire) is symphonic rock, a genre I first embraced with Trans Siberian Orchestra. They are probably closer to opera than the "rock operas" of the early 70's. The live shows in europe I've seen online are awsome and it's a rabbit hole I intend to dive into.

Home Free doesn't always have a country vibe. They can do (and have done) quite serious songs that aren't country at all. Before they did the sing-off, they rarely sang country. They chose that as their genre for that event, and have stuck to it a lot, but definitely not always. This is one reason Austin gets to sing opera once in a while, and now he and Rob have done Nessun Dorma. Both have been classically trained, though Austin was more theatrically trained (he traveled with the theater group from Disney, for a while), before he was discovered by Home Free on the cruise where they all were performing.
