Lars is basically Kazuya's half brother, meaning Heihachi's child from another woman. Debuted on Tekken 6 and had appearance in Naruto ninja storm as a collab, his rage art/cinematic ultimate is a reference to that game.

Kazuya and Jun are Jin's parents, Asuka is rumored to be Jin's cousin, Lars and Reina is Kazuya's half brother and sister, Lee is the adoptive son of Heihachi, Kuma is Heihachi's favorite more than Kazuya and Jin.

The white aura you see with the fighters is a new fighting mechanic called "HEAT". It increases some moves in each fighter, plus they have an option to use HEAT SMASH, or HEAT DASH. The move they show off at the end of their trailer is called RAGE ART. Each property you can only use once in each round.

Jin is the son to Kazuya and Jun Lars and Lee Chaolan are Jin’s uncles; Lars being Kazuya’s half-brother and Lee being Kazuya’s adopted brother Reina is the half-sister to Kazuya and Lars, making Jin her nephew And Kuma was Heihachi’s (The father to Kazuya, Lars and Reina; Jin’s grandfather) pet bear. In the earlier games you could play as him but in this game he is confirmed to have passed on. You could have ALSO played as his wife (Kazuya’s mom) Kazumi in Tekken 7!

Jun would be Kazuya's "wife" (not sure if they really married). She is Jin's mom. I really like her, specially how she shows to be the master of the Kazama style. Asuka Kazama is from the same clan and you can see their styles are similar, but Asuka seems to improvise much more and her combos are not so spectacular, she is not at the same level as Jun. I think Asuka would be her niece.

Asuka is also a master and teacher of Kazama Karate. She does admittedly have her own style, that she doesn't teach in the dojo where she mixes experiences from street-brawling in. She's been the main teacher at the dojo for quite a while. And while I certainly think that Jun is stronger. To call Asuka a sub-par practitioner would be categorically false. Her's is the Kazama style whilst all the flowing motion Jun does is more to do with her spiritual nature. Mind you Jun while skilled in the Kazama style is not connected to any other practitioners of the art. And has likely not been since she joined the conservationist movement through which she met Kazuya. It can clearly also be noticed that in terms of movement Asuka seems to have steadier footing on key Kazama moves like the cart-wheel. This is also reflected in Gameplay as most of her Kazama style moves have quicker recovery as compared to Jun's use of the style. Also canonically Jun did about as well in the King of Iron Fist Tournement in her one run of it as Asuka has been in her 2... Or was it 3? Neither making it to the top 8. Or even top 16. Middle of the road peformances. New spiritual Jun is probably stronger overall.. As anything mystical seems to be lore wise.

@@tysej4 Wow, thanks for your feedback, that's very cool. Yeah, I suppose Asuka's mixed techniques "feel wrong", even if they are very effective. The combinations of different styles is very obvious and hurts the cosmetic flow of her movements, but it's probably just a superficial look from someone who doesn't reallly understands what's happening like me. Also, while Jun's movements feel controlled, Asuka seems to use a lot of strength in them, like, you know, she is not keeping her strength, she is releasing everything almost with every blow. Again, it's probably just a cosmetic thing but it makes her look more impulsive and reckless.

I dunno where you got the idea that they would have even had time to get married... Jin was conceived via a tryst... to even call Jun and Kazuya at any point a couple is generous.

The thing is with the use of the same stage music for trailers is that when you're not watching them all in one go, but rather as they are released, it makes it feel a little more cohesive. Like it really linked them all together while you went a couple of weeks or so without a new trailer. It also made the new characters for 8 stand out especially compared to the returning ones as they did end up with their own unique trailer music.

Just wanna say this. If you have any interest in the lore, especially if you plan on going through the story of 8, I recommend checking out a video called “The Insane Lore of Tekken” by ClementJ64. It’s a nearly 2 hour long video, but it is the most popular lore video among the fandom with how entertaining and cohesive it is. It goes through every mainline game from 1-7 and shows just how crazy Tekken has been throughout the years. And if the length of the video seems a bit too much, the guy who made the video put chapters in it for each main game, so you can watch it in parts instead of one sitting.

This was one of the very few fighting games I bought on release, and I LOVED IT. For a time. In the end I think it's become too expensive to support it, I am not recommending it in my steam review. I mean, 8 bucks for a character, without any stage or anything, not being able to buy a season pass but some weird deluxe upgrade for 40 bucks so I am able to play with the new characters... wtf. What I like the most about this game is the PERSONALITY the characters show in every expression, they never felt so alive.

You really don’t have to buy the new characters if you don’t wanna play them and the game comes with like 32 characters on release with no DLC, far more than any other fighting game on release that I can think of. Not to mention one Tekken character has almost literally 3 or 4 times the moves and animations of most other fighting game characters just because the nature of the mechanics

@myolgiden That's pretty normal for a 3v3 fighting game like KOF to have a huge roster... Proportionally, as a 1v1 fighting game, Tekken 8 have a huge roster. Sure that many moves are coming from previoius games but no other fighting games have a bigger command list. I don't see any other games ever that can compete with that and Tekken the last 3D fighting game that have some success. 🙄

@@Squidward-jv7go You are being reasonable, but you are not being realistic. Sure, I can keep playing the base game. But after 100 or 200 hours you really wish to have new content, I mean, if you like the game. Humans like new stuff. New and shiny stuff. That's not being "dumb", that's looking for estimulation. New content in a game you love, everybody wants that. I'll just wait for a few years, abusive monetization tactics in a fighting game... that can't end up well. They'll eventually bend the knee and offer some cheap alternative, unless they just choose to kill the game. That already happened. The dead or alive 6 owners decided to let the game die completely instead of admitting their mistake and changing the monetization system. AND BY THE WAY, the price of the new characters in DOA6 WAS THE SAME as Tekken 8. It makes you think, right?
